Hand built in Blackpool from 1967 to 1973 with 1,029 examples produced across several generations, the TVR Vixen was the second TVR production model and features lightweight fiberglass bodywork mounted a tubular frame chassis with independent double-wishbone suspension. This 1979 example is an S2 version that was imported to Canada by the current owner in 2018 before being refinished and equipped with an upgraded Ford 289ci HiPo V8 mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The car also features four-wheel disc brakes, aftermarket coilovers, a Holley carburetor, a Moto-Lita steering wheel, and more. This TVR is now being offered for auction out of Canada.

Compared to the original TVR Vixen, the S2 version featured a longer wheelbase, new wraparound taillights, and bolt-fastened fiberglass bodywork which provided easier repairs. This example’s bodyshell is said to have been placed on a rotisserie and refinished in the current shade of light green under current ownership. The car rides on wire-spoke wheels with knock-off spinners and Signet SB-802 tires. Other details include a bullet-style driver’s side mirror, a polished fuel cap, front fender vents, chrome bumpers, dual exhaust tips, a wraparound glass rear window, and a clamshell hood with integrated air intake.

Inside, this TVR features a pair of fixed low-back bucket seats in black leather along with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Accessories include a three-spoke Moto-Lita steering wheel, an aftermarket shift knob, a heater, a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, and analog Smiths instrumentation.

Power comes from a replacement 289ci Ford HiPo V8 engine featuring an aluminum intake manifold and radiator, dual electric fans, finned valve covers, a Holley carburetor, and a polished air cleaner assembly. The engine is said to have been overhauled before installation and sends power to the rear wheels through a Mustang-sourced 5-speed manual transmission. The suspension has been modified with aftermarket coilovers and disc brakes are equipped at all four corners.

This sale will include a valid registration.

I restored my 1969 Vixen and this car looks like a 69 not a 70. Has the smaller side marker lights and lower seats, although they the seats in this car are incorrect anyway.

My big question is what did you do to the chassis and what rear-end is in the car. The original Triumph Vitesse rears would never handle the torque of the V8?

What spring rates are you running on the front & rear.

    I put a 2.0 Ford SOHC
(dynoed at 170hp) in mine and did some strenghtening to the chassis for the rear. I followed my friend's original V8 Tuscan chassis on where to add tubes.

One of the nicest TVRs I've ever seen...and I've owned several. Great color....and a 5 speed V8. In the day it was a much better car than the Cobra.
