We are pleased to offer this newly restored 1971 Land Rover Series IIA finished in Light Green over saddle leather.  One of the very few examples imported to the U.S. from Portugal where it was completely restored by Cool-N-Vintage Land Rovers, this Series IIA is the result of over 1,000 hours’ worth of painstaking work by a team of skilled craftsmen.  Showcasing upgraded suspension and brakes, a fully rebuilt drivetrain and some added amenities including power steering, air conditioning, and a custom wireless sound system, this Land Rover offers improved comfort and performance for the modern road. It is now being offered for auction by its seller in New York with just over 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) driven since the restoration.

This Land Rover was completely dissembled before its body panels were stripped down to bare aluminum, coated in several layers of primer, and refinished in a classic Light Green high-gloss paint (Pantone 13-0116).  A new canvas top has been installed and the chassis also received an anticorrosive coating to ensure maximum durability. The finish on this IIA remains like-new as can be seen in the provided images.  Optional furnishings installed during the custom restoration include military windows, mudflaps, LED lighting, and red-painted 5-lug wheels that come dressed in robust BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires.  Metal Cool-N-Vintage plaques are also affixed on both front fenders reading “Handmade in Lisbon”.

The cabin has been completely refurbished and stitched to perfection in saddle leather upholstery.  All of the wiring has been redone and air conditioning has been integrated along with a custom Marshall wireless sound system.  Other details include added soundproofing, a Motolita steering wheel, and a locking cubby box in the center console.

The 2.25L inline 4-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual gearbox were completely rebuilt and overhauled.  An overdrive gear was added for this example along with front disc brakes, power steering, parabolic springs, an upgraded suspension, and a high capacity fuel tank.  All of the hardware, bearings, and bushings have been replaced and all hard components have been powder-coated to bring this IIA beyond factory-original standards. The undercarriage remains absolutely pristine and the car is said to drive like-new with barely 800 miles driven since the restoration.

Accompanied by a set of 2 keys and the restoration invoice, this exceptional Land Rover IIA is ready to be enjoyed.

@rhmoritz thank you. All Land Rover parts are readily available. Very popular vehicles. I have had only done some minor maintenance repairs and had no issues with parts. The vehicle does have an over drive gear which acts like a 5th gear and can go up to 55 miles an hour so it will depend on how fast you want to get to where you’re going. I have traveled up to 40 miles away. The truck runs perfectly just doesn’t go over 55.

Keep coming back to this wonderful Landy. During your ownership, has any routine maintenance been completed? Are parts readily available? Due to understandable speed limitations, would you recommend trailering vehicle in excess of 25 mile radius? Great rig!

@Dkostic thank you! Correct, imported to the U.S. from Portugal where it was completely restored by Cool-N-Vintage Land Rovers.

Avid Porsche collector, but the truck is stunning! Just to clarify, all restoration work and upgrades done in Portugal?

@jwallick thank you for the reply. Looks great. Best of luck with the sale.

  • rhmoritz (registered bidder) 3 years, 5 monthsago

How many miles on engine/chassis prior to restoration? Any pictures available documenting all the work performed? Thanks.

  • jwallick (seller) 3 years, 5 monthsago

@CurtGT3RS i have had it up to 55 mph .. after you go into 4th gear if on the highway you can get into overdrive which really takes it to 5th gear and up to 55.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t go over 40-45

  • jwallick (seller) 3 years, 5 monthsago

@IdahoPotato did not fit our needs, would rather see someone else enjoy it.

@jwallick - Why the sale so soon after what must have been quite a wait and substantial investment?

  • jwallick (seller) 3 years, 5 monthsago

@dno76 in the $100k range with a very long lead time.

  • dno76 (registered bidder) 3 years, 5 monthsago

How much did you pay for this?

  • CurtGT3RS (registered bidder) 3 years, 5 monthsago

Will this drive at freeway speeds?

  • SteveinOakville (registered bidder) 3 years, 5 monthsago

I have always enjoyed Cool n Vintage's Youtube videos, artsy snippets of classic car life. Their Land Rovers look exceptional. Good luck with the sale.
