Positioned in the middle of Porsche’s 911 model range with an ideal balance of comfort and performance, the 911E came equipped with premium trim, a lightweight aluminum decklid, and a mechanical fuel-injection system borrowed from the flagship 911S. This 1971 example is one of 935 Porsche 911E Targas produced for the model year and comes finished in Bahia Red over a black interior. The car is said to have been recently serviced and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Ohio.
The seller notes this 911E was refinished in the current shade of Bahia Red from its original color of Signal yellow under prior ownership. It features premium exterior trim including chrome bumperettes with rubber overlays as well as polished aluminum deco moldings on the rockers and wheel arches. Other equipment includes a polished driver’s side mirror, a fender-mounted antenna, chrome headlight rings, a removable black roof panel, a brushed silver Targa bar, a heated glass rear window, and 15” Fuchs alloy wheels dressed in Vredestein Sprint Classic tires (2021). The seller notes a few paint chips are present as well as some excess paint on the rubber fender trim.
The black interior features leatherette seats with basketweave centers and matching trim on the dashboard and door panels. The entranceways are lined with aluminum sill panels and the driver is situated ahead of a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel. Accessories include a dashboard cover, roll-up windows, a locking glovebox, a heater, and a vintage JVC AM/FM cassette stereo paired with aftermarket speakers in the door panels. The seller confirms all gauges are working properly.
The air-cooled 2.2-liter flat-six engine is equipped Bosch mechanical fuel injection and delivers up to 155 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller indicates the engine number (6210974) is correct for a vehicle of this era. The seller notes some engine oil seeps onto the exhaust.

@Damaho912 It can always be returned to it's original Signal Yellow! But I agree, I do love the Bahia Red it is the color/car that always comes to mind when I think of 911s of this era.
The respray from Signal Yellow to red is tragic. But at least it’s Bahia and it’s beautiful!
@opener The toggle switch to left of heater controls appear to have been hooked to an accessory fan that is not in working order.

@Terra While we have NOT verified via the official Porsche Birth Certificate that this is the matching numbers engine to this car, according to the VIN and Engine charts at stuttcars.com it is highly probably this is the original engine for this vehicle. Though we can not make a guarantee at this moment the engine serial number-codes are a match for what would be in this car for 1971.
To address your question about the oil seepage. There is a small oil leak/weeping on the driver side around the lower valve cover and oil return tubes, a very common trait on older 911 engines. There are no apparent issues with piston rings or valve guides, the car does not use-burn any oil.

@Terra We have not verified with Porsche that the engine is numbers matching however we did lookup the code and it showed to be period correct based on the information we read online. The only thing that was done was an oil change on the car. There was not a detailed engine diagnosis or service done. The true mileage on the car is unknown and we cannot guarantee the amount of miles that are on the engine. Seepage is very common on these cars when not driven for extended periods of time.

Also it appears that like most the hydropneumatic suspension was replaced with bilsteins. What is the purpose of the velcro on the targa bar? I will take some photos and send them to you. I am not seeing velcro on the targa top can you reference a specific photo you are referring to. The top is in very good condition.
Any chance you could post a cold start or driving video. Are there any service records? I do not have any service records but we will upload a few running videos today as well.
