Available for auction is this 1972 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special Brougham finished in Brewster Green Metallic over a black brocade and leather interior. The 60 Special nomenclature has been used by Cadillac since 1938 to designate some of its most luxurious models. For the tenth generation of the Sixty series, Cadillac introduced an all-new design with the most interior width of any car available at the time. This 1972 example was delivered to its original owner in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, in September 1971 and was later sold to an employee of the original owner who in turn sold it to a prominent Cadillac collector approximately five years ago. Having been serviced in preparation for this sale, this 60 Special is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

The tenth generation 60 Special shared design cues with the Calais and DeVille models but featured an exclusive long wheelbase and a distinctive roof design reminiscent of Bill Mitchell's original 1938 Sixty Special. This example is finished in Brewster Green Metallic with a vinyl top in black with opera lamps mounted at the C-pillars. 1972 marked Cadillac's 70th anniversary and this year’s model gained a chrome molding around the rear window. The brightwork and finish are noted to be in excellent condition, detailed images can be found in the gallery. It rides on a set of 15″ steel wheels with full covers, dressed in Auburn whitewall radial tires.

The cabin is upholstered in black leather with brocade cloth inserts and a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Features include woodgrain trim, dual power-adjustable front seats, a tilting and telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, an AM/FM 8-track radio, a rear defroster, and Twilight Sentinel lighting. The seller confirms that all gauges and accessories remain functional including the air conditioning.

Power comes from a 472ci V8 engine driving the rear wheels by way of a 3-speed automatic transmission. In preparation for sale, the car has been serviced with a new windshield washer pump and blade inserts, a new front left headlamp, battery, and rearview mirror as well as repairs to the flasher wiring harness, a new flasher relay, a coolant flush, and an oil and filter change.

This sale will include the original owner’s literature, key code card, data card, trunk and floor mats, and a clean title.

@Carfan1978 thank you! We have two more active Cadillacs on here. One closes tomorrow and one on Friday..... Good luck with the bidding.

Congratulations to buyer and seller. I was not familiar with this site until I saw a post on the web from Ken about his cars now for sale. I was afraid a buyer could not be found here since so many on the site are foreign specialty cars. These beautiful Cadillacs are a different breed and draw a different crowd. Great to see the sale could be completed, albeit in the deal tank department.

@bellaghia no there are no bubbles under the vinyl top. We posted a lot of close-up photos of the top so you could see there are no bubbles.

  • bellaghia (registered bidder) 1 year, 6 monthsago

are there any bubbles anywhere under the vinyl top? Many glass delaminated and is the pot meat without pits?

I did not initially see the detail on the Cadillac new car forms until last night . I assume a lady bought it and from the narrative, gave / sold it to her employee later. When we lived in Upper St Clair near Pittsburgh , we would have driven right by the neighborhood of the original owner all the time which coincidentally was the last name of the original owner). She or her husband must have developed those houses I see on Google maps and used their name as one of the streets. Very interesting story

Hello everyone and welcome to our auction of our 1972 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. This all original, 20,000 mile example is one of the finest there are. It has had two owners that lovingly cared for and stored it over the years. It is truly an exceptional unique example that will bring a lot of pride to its new owner. It is completely up-to-date on its maintenance and is turnkey, ready to be driven and enjoyed. This is an excellent car to use and bring to a local Concours. This would do extremely well in a preservation class. We are located in Delray Beach Florida and happy to show this car any potential bitters by appointment. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on here or click on contact seller for an immediate response. Good luck to the bidders, somebody is going to be a very happy new owner.
