This 1972 example underwent a custom Carrera RS style transformation including a full lightweight interior, RS-spec brakes, steel fender flares, a classic Ducktail rear spoiler, and a powerful 3.6L flat-six engine sourced from a Porsche 993. Finished in White, this RS Tribute also features a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. After the build was completed in Los Angeles, the car spent time in Japan before being imported back to the U.S. when the seller acquired it in August of 2020. Delivering a truly visceral air-cooled driving experience, this custom 911 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

This 911 was refinished in White after being fitted with steel fender flares, fiberglass RS-style front and rear bumpers, and a fiberglass Ducktail rear spoiler.  Black Carrera RS graphics were also applied throughout the exterior. This 911 rides on 16” polished Fuchs wheels dressed in Toyo Extensa HP II tires. The seller notes a stress crack on the spoiler where the rear decklid meets the driver-side quarter panel. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, the cabin has been customized with lightweight RS-style door panels, sport bucket seats with houndstooth cloth centers, and an Alcantara-wrapped MOMO three-spoke steering wheel. The dashboard has been re-covered and both the air conditioning and radio have been removed along with the rear seats for weight savings.

This 911 has been fitted with an air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine sourced from a 1995 Porsche 993 Carrera. The engine is equipped with an upgraded intake and exhaust as well as an updated factory wiring harness and is paired with a recently rebuilt 5-speed 915 manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The seller adds that an engine performance chip and a max flow air filter were installed. The wheel hubs have been rebuilt and upgraded Carrera RS brakes have been installed along with new brake lines and a big bore master cylinder. New rear Bilstein Sport shocks and a Racing Dynamics front strut brace have also been equipped. The seller reports that the engine bears approximately 13k miles and was removed from a 993 during the late 1990s. The transmission was reportedly rebuilt within the last 4k miles. The seller also states the car has not been officially completed and the hood light is not connected although there are no major outstanding issues.

The sale will include a clean title.

@Cward2 can you send your # I will call you

  • Eurogroup1 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Cward2 They are Maxilights . Just purchased wheels tires and lugs.

  • Cward2 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Eurogroup1 Thanks Dave. Can you double check on the Fuchs please. On comparison the wheels appear to be Maxilight's. This is a great start for a hotrod since it's got the power already with the light chassis (plus no sunroof).

@Cward2 Hey There , I have a spare and also the 5 th lugs . The door switches are not on car .I did not have time to get COA . Doug

Driving vid? Back of Fuchs with date stamps? Do you have a COA from Porsche for how this car left the factory? Understanding that it was substantially modified afterwards. Any idea what happened to the door light switches? Look like some of the wiring is in the frunk. Please add the 5th wheel nut(s) before driving. Looks like a nice piece of kit for the canyons.

    Is a driving vid available?

    thank you

  • bbcycled 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Eurogroup1 So the "several cosmetic imperfections" are a single stress crack? Any original items that were removed included?

  • Eurogroup1 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@bbcycled Car is supplied as is no other parts.
Not so much blemishes! There is a small stress crack on 1/4 panel where it meets top of deck lid from torque . This is a common problem on big engine older cars from the Power flex.

  • Eurogroup1 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@72MFI The car is a 72 . The builder went with 73 look and welded it . The car will have CA title sent to CA buyer if sold in Ca . Thanks Doug

  • bbcycled 2 years, 5 monthsago

Can you post close up pics of the paint blemishes? Do any of the original items that have been removed come with the sale? Rear seats, radio, intake, etc..?

  • 2 years, 5 monthsago

A couple of question to the selling dealer, no Title? but comes with Japanese documentation, is the dealer going to supply a California title? Also the listing says 1972, but there is no oil flap on the passenger rear fender, so what year is the 911? Thank you.

That is such an impressive looking tribute!
