The BMW 2002tii (Touring Injection International) debuted in 1971 with Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection, offering a substantial increase in both performance and reliability. This 1973 example is finished in New Polaris Metallic over a navy-blue cloth and black vinyl interior and has received a rebuilt engine, a refreshed fuel system, and a repaint in its factory color under previous ownership. This classic 2002tii is now being offered at auction by its seller out of California.
This 2002 is said to have been refinished in its factory color of New Polaris Metallic (060) under prior ownership. Equipment includes front-mounted driving lights, dual polished flag-style mirrors, round taillights, a single polished exhaust outlet, a chrome grille, window surrounds, and front and rear bumpers with over-riders. Detailed images are provided in the gallery. The 14” E30 “bottlecap” wheels are mounted with Falken Azenis tires.
The interior features black vinyl upholstery on the dashboard, center console, seat bolsters, and upper door panels with blue patterned cloth seat centers and matching vinyl door panel inserts. Equipment includes a heater, a rear window defroster, manual front windows, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, pop-out rear windows, and a glove box. The seller reports all gauges and accessories are fully functional and notes a small blemish at the bottom of the steering wheel.
The 2002tii is powered by a fuel-injected 2.0L M10 inline-four cylinder engine rated at 130 HP and 131 lb.-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox. The engine is said to have been completely rebuilt including all new hoses, belts, a new thermostat, and a new water pump. The fuel system was also inspected and cleaned including the injectors and fuel tank. In November of 2021, the valves were adjusted and received new exhaust guides and valve seats.
This sale will include a clean title and service documentation.
