  • Make: Porsche
  • Model: 911 T
  • VIN: 9113102863
  • Mileage: 120,028mi (5-digit odometer)
  • Transmission: Automatic
  • Title Status: Clean
  • Color: Light Yellow
  • Seller Type: Private Party
  • Location: Lynbrook, NY 11563
  • Lot #: V-0035811-DT

The 1973 model year was the last of the original long-hood body style. Finished in Light Yellow over black upholstery, this 1973 911T Coupe pairs an optional 4-speed Sportomatic transmission with its CIS fuel-injected flat-six. Reportedly single-family-owned and always garage-stored, this classic 911T is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.

This 911T came factory-finished in the non-metallic shade of Light Yellow (117). Equipment includes black front horn grilles, pop-out rear quarter windows, and 15” cookie cutter wheels with Continental tires mounted approximately 5 years ago. Other details include chrome-finished headlight bezels, window trim, mirrors, door handles, and lower rocker panels. The seller notes minor paint blemishes and signs of road wear consistent with the vehicle's age. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The driver is situated within a black leatherette interior fitted with upgraded cloth bucket seats. Equipment includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, a locking glovebox, roll-up windows, and an upgraded Sony AM/FM radio. Engine-tuned aluminum has been added to the door pockets and inner doorsills. The seller notes the original seats will accompany the sale and a tear is present in one of the seats. All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly. The seller notes the 5-digit odometer has rolled over once and the true mileage is approximately 120k.

This 911T is powered by an air-cooled Bosch CIS fuel-injected 2.4-liter flat-six delivering up to 140 HP to the rear wheels through a 4-speed Sportomatic semi-automatic transmission. The seller states that chain tensioners were upgraded over 30 years ago, a very small oil leak is present, and the car is occasionally tricky to start. The inner bodywork and underside have also been treated with Tuff-Kote rust inhibitor.

This sale will include a clean title, workshop manuals, two keys, and the original toolkit.

The seller would like you to know: “This 1973 911T is a one-family-owner car that is considered a survivor.  It has always been maintained and cared for meticulously.  It is totally stock and never raced.  It has never been in an accident and the body is factory-straight, even has the classic 911 ping when you close the car door.  Runs great and every time I take it out for a ride there is always someone striking up a conversation about the car. It's a head-turner!”

@Efariab Good evening! Thank you very much for your comments, I appreciate your input especially when it comes to safety. I will see that the + terminal is covered tomorrow. Also a second back up to secure the battery with could never hurt. This change was made to the battery only a few years after it was purchased and has always been secure without movement but for fear of rollover your point is very well taken and I appreciate your input.

    Thank you,
    Chuck

Just an opinion on the battery relocation!
I have the same year model and even same color(since 1989) of this beautiful '73 911 that is being auctioning here .
So, although the conversion and relocation of the 2 smaller batteries sound and look logical, it doesn't necessarily mean it's 100% safe wher it's sitting and loosely and casual strapped to keep it moving!
All that plus the fact that the battery terminals (+) are exposed.
Should this battery be dislodged due to the car going over a unexpected (here in the bay area, CA , we don't have shortage of those) heavy bumps and potholes, the least of the problem or danger, for that matter would be that the battery falling on its side and spilling the battery acid all over it's surroundings!
My suggestion for the lucky winner of this gorgeous and very unique "Early 911"( No, we don't call these beauties "LONGHOOD") would be to get a smaller generic OR even better, an "OPTIMA" battery and install it in the "Smugglers box directly below the battery where it's sitting now !!!

I hope the seller and the potential lucky future owner, see my comment as a constructive one for insuring everyone's SAFETY in mind and not a negative words to sabotage the deal !
Best of luck to the seller & the potential winner,
    E. Fariab( 40 year veteran of PCA )

Morning! The car since new has been a little tricky to start. Have changed injectors, cold starting valve, etc. never got to the bottom of it. The car has never not started and most times starts fine. Once started she runs perfect. As you see from the cv joint boot pictures they need replacement and since the car is 50 years old I would suggest reviewing any rubber bushings underneath. The car has not been repaired since it was never hit. The front fog lamp covers have been re-sprayed and should be repaired or replaced. Any other minor imperfections are due to the fact that this car is a survivor with original paint it does have the minor dings as shown in the detailed photos. Hope this helps, anything else please ask.

    Thanks,
    Chuck

Why do you think it’s hard to start? Also any repairs or repaint?

@beesnz1___ Good morning! The only reason for the battery in its current location was to eliminate the need for two smaller batteries. Since the single battery was larger it doesn’t fit in either original locations and fits nicely at its current location. It very easily could be brought back to the factory standard of two smaller batteries.

    Thanks,
    Chuck

I’m intrigued by the creative “factory” battery setup ?? Obviously has been shifted to accomodate the muffler like configuration beside the spare wheel. Can you enlighten me?

  • 1973911T (seller) 6 monthsago

Thank you for your question. Basically the sportomatic is a typical “H” pattern gearbox. When shifting you release the accelerator and shift gears wether up or down shifting. If you keep your foot on the accelerator and go to shift the revs will jump up quickly like being in neutral. You can however put the gear selector in third from a dead stop and (as Porsche says) go from 0 to100. Keep in mind as you accelerate from a dead stop you will be starting in third gear so acceleration is slower. Porsche refers to first gear as a creeper gear and recommends starting in second gear from a dead stop. Plenty of acceleration starting in second. Yes, you can bring the revs up as high as you like before shifting. I hope that helps and please let me know if you need further detail. Thanks, Chuck

I have questions re the sportomatic trans. It appears to operate a bit like a cvt but you must still manually shift the gears , is that correct? As far as revs go if the gear shift is done manually ( without a clutch) is it still possible to take the revs to an optimum power level before shifting?

Greetings car enthusiasts! Thank you for taking the time to view my car. This is a very rare find in that it has been in the family since new. My dad and I were the only drivers. This survivor has never been washed or taken to a car wash so the body is excellent. Please feel free to ask any questions.
