Available for auction is this 1973 Porsche 914/4 finished in Summer Yellow (35) over a Black leatherette interior. Lauded by some as the best year for Porsche’s 914, the 1973 model saw the introduction of a 2.0L flat-four engine and the 914/12 “side-shift” 5-speed manual transmission. This 1973 example underwent a comprehensive restoration over the course of three years and received a rebuild of its flat-four engine using big bore pistons and cylinders. This 914 has since earned first-place wins at major events including the 2018 Porsche Club of America Concours d’Elegance, the 2018 Misselwood Concours d'Elegance, and the Boston Cup as well as the Museum Choice Award at Larz Anderson Museum of Transportation. Accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this 1973 Porsche 914 2.0 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Virginia.

During the restoration process, this 914 was stripped to bare metal before being refinished in its factory-specified color of Summer Yellow (35). The car was reportedly delivered with a trim delete option, eliminating the vinyl sail panels and replacing the bright-finished bumpers with matte black pieces. Additional details include a single-side polished side-view mirror, a removable black Targa top, and 15” Pedrini alloy wheels dressed in continental tires.

The Black leatherette interior features basketweave pattern inserts on the seats, dashboard, and door panels, along with grey carpets. The Appearance Group center console includes an analog clock as well as gauges for oil temperature and battery voltage. Additional details include custom black and yellow Coco floor mats with a matching trunk liner, roll-up windows, VDO instrumentation, an AM/FM radio, and a heater.

Power comes from an air-cooled flat-four engine which was rebuilt during the restoration using a big bore piston and cylinder kit resulting in increased displacement and horsepower. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 914/12 “side-shift” 5-speed manual transaxle. Images of the undercarriage can be found in the gallery.
