Up for auction is this well-sorted 1973 Porsche 914 finished in Tangerine over a black vinyl interior.  The 914 was introduced as Porsche's premier mid-engine sports car, offering drivers both an open air and coupe-style experience thanks to its removable top.  This example features a $16k engine refresh in 2016 and stands in ready-to-drive condition.  Previously listed on PCARMARKET, this excellent driver is now being offered by its seller out of Alphretta, GA.

Finished in timeless Tangerine, this 914 is said to have had one quality repaint at some point in its life which remains in very nice condition.  Please view the detailed photos provided by the seller.  The car rides on original 15” steel wheels that show to be in great condition.

Inside, you will notice a spartan black leatherette interior that is stated to be in nice condition.  Only one minor area of rust is present near the passenger seat area of this otherwise rust-free car.  Although unconfirmed, the seller believes that the interior received some cosmetic enhancements at some point in its life due to its crisp nature.  With a new blower motor and recently refreshed heating system, all electronics and functions of this interior are said to be in working order.  The seller also states that the a new odometer was installed last year with a reading slightly over 5k miles at the time of the replacement.  It currently shows 1k miles.

This 914 highlights a completely rebuilt and larger 2.2L four-cylinder engine that is connected to a 5-speed manual transmission.  In 2016, over $16k was invested into taking this engine to the next level.  While keeping its original block, the seller implemented a new exhaust system, clutch, fuel pump, improved cam shaft, Webber carburetors, and more.  The outcome; 125HP with all around increased performance.  Receipts of all work will be provided with the sale.  The engine is said to be up-to-date on all service and remains in excellent running condition.

The sale will include service records, documentation, all books, tools, and one key.  This is an excellent opportunity to own a nicely presented 914.

    Hi

I would like to sell the car to someone interested in continuing to appreciate and care for the car. At 10 feet away the car looks pretty good. At arms distance some of its age show such as a ding here and a chip there and some surface scratches. Definitely not perfect and pristine. It's 47 years old and will continue to need some TLC.

The best thing about the car in my opinion is its unique look, the way it handles curves and being able to take the roof off. Its a fun car that gets a lot of looks on the road. People driven next to me have opened their window to ask questions and to complement the car. I would say this is a drivers car instead of a garage queen. One unique aspect to this car is that it was built as a non-appearance car without the black vinyl on the center roll-bar. I have seen a few other 914's that were done the same way. I liked that aspect of the car especially since more Tangerine Orange shows. Great color!!

The 914 just celebrated 50 years since its introduction. Hagerty just featured the 914 as one of 10 cars in the 2020 Bull Market List- Cover story in the January/February 2020 issue. I will scan this and send in. They project some very good appreciation for this car- well over $20k.

Anyway, I have had this car for 6 years and I do not drive it very much which is why I need to sell it and open some space in my garage. I do hope someone has a passion for this car and bids $14,250 which I will accept.

    thanks
    Herb

please a pictures all right side passenger rocker panel with rocker removed and hell hole area with removed battery, door jamb all this critical for any 914 buyer.

  • FASTLANE911 (seller) 3 years, 11 monthsago

I have lowered the price to make a sale. Any offer over $15,000 will take the car.
More than that has been spent to rebuild the engine and add new parts.
    Fun to drive.
    thanks

I should say that I took the car to get the HP evaluated. It measured 90hp at the wheels and they estimated 140hp at the engine.

There is a spot of rust under the passenger seat area. I cannot see into the car from the bottom looking up at this area. This spot has been there for a long time at least 15 years. I did take the car to Auto Atlanta and they said it was an easy fix to cut the section out and replace with new metal. No quote though.

Hi, Can you talk a little more about the rust on the passenger side, can you see the ground or road from inside the 914?
Have you had a body shop look at it and any comment on what they said?
    Thanks a lot, RAM
