Up for auction is this 1974 Porsche 914 2.0 finished in Olympic Blue over black leatherette.  Equipped with the larger 2.0L fuel-injected flat-four engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, this late-model 914 also features an optional heated/tinted rear window, chrome bumpers, fog lights, dual mirrors, and 15” alloy wheels. Benefitting from a major service completed within the last 1k miles, this eye-catching Porsche 914 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Ohio.

This 914 comes finished in Olympic Blue (L51P), a distinctive nonmetallic color shared with Volkswagens of the same era. The chrome bumpers are fitted with U.S.-market bumperettes, and the roll bar comes trimmed in black vinyl to match the removable roof panel.  Other equipment includes dual chrome mirrors, a single exhaust outlet, and 15” Pedrini alloy wheels dressed in Dunlop Direzza tires from 2014. The car had been previously refinished in its original color and the seller reports a paint crack near the driver's door latch as well as traces of rust on the rocker panels, battery locations, and trunk wells. A blemish is also noted on the lower passenger-side fender just before the door, additional images are provided in the gallery. The seller notes several areas of the body had been repaired under prior ownership.

The cabin is trimmed in black leatherette with cloth seat centers and basketweave patterned inserts on the dashboard and door panels.  Features include a locking glovebox, analog VDO instrumentation, basic heat and ventilation, three-point seatbelts, black and blue checkered Palm Fiber CoCo floor mats, and an aftermarket Alpine stereo paired with upgraded Polk speakers.

The air-cooled 2.0L flat-four features Bosch fuel injection and comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, sending as much as 91 HP and 105 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels.  Service completed by Auto Assets of Ohio in 2015 included repacking the front wheel bearings, replacement of the front brake pads and rotors, starter, ball joints, fuel pump, tie rod assembly, torsion bars, valve cover gasket, front strut inserts, spark plugs, ignition points, fluids, filters, a wheel alignment, and more. The seller states all service was completed within the last 1k miles.

This sale will include a clean title. A charming example of Porsche's beloved mid-engine roadster, this well-sorted 914 2.0 awaits its next caretaker.

    @rwbutler Yes you are correct.

    Thx for those pics. Am I correct that the front stabilizer is missing?

  • AutoAssetsPPA (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

    @rwbutler behind the seat back pictures were added to listing.

    @rwbutler I’d be happy to get you clearer and in depth photos of those areas first thing tomorrow morning. Both driver and passenger door open and close very well. This vehicle doesn’t have any water leaks that I am aware of. It’s stored inside and hasn’t seen rain since our ownership. All seals for the targa top are in good shape as well.

  • rwbutler (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

    Would it be possible to see photos of the area behind the seats at the base of the seat back pad? And what is the covering on the underside of front and rear trunks? Do both doors open and close smoothly? Do you know if there are any water leaks into the cabin anywhere? Thx.

    A picture of the engine number (GA006617) has been added to the photo gallery

    @rwbutler I don't believe any other compression tests have been completed on the vehicle since the previous service record. electronically everything is working properly. There are no cold start issues, the vehicle starts every time. There are no drivability issues or suspension concerns. I did confirm that the Engine number matches the COA

  • rwbutler (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

    After reviewing receipts, this appears to be original engine with no internal work done other than maintenance. Also, shows compression readings with #1 being 105, has there been any other compression test done?

    Are there any electrical items that do not work? Are there any cold start or drivability issues with the car that need attention? I did not see a pic of engine number, can you confirm it matches the COA? Thanks
