DT: 1975 Porsche 911 Outlaw 3.6L

Now available for auction is this beautifully executed 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera “R-Gruppe” outlaw presented in its factory specified color of Cockney Brown over a custom leather interior.  Commissioned by its longtime previous owner in 2012 as a joint effort between Kelly Moss Road and Race and Rothsport Racing, this orignally stock 911 was transformed into the one of a kind outlaw we see today.  Showcasing custom exterior details and a vast array of performance modifications including an upgraded 3.6L Porsche 993 engine with a custom GT3 exhaust, this uncompromising 911 outlaw offers a driving experience that is second to none. Previously sold on PCARMARKET, this 911 is now being offered for auction in exceptional condition by its seller in New York while showing approximately 94k miles on the odometer.

After being completely disassembled and stripped down to bare metal, this 911’s body was fully inspected before being professionally refinished in its factory original color of Cockney Brown. The paint is noted to be excellent condition with front-end paint protection film and a full treatment of ceramic coating applied within the last year.  A small blemish is indicated on the rear decklid and a minor imperfection is also noted near the driver’s side headlight (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  New sunroof cables and wind deflectors have been installed along with H1 headlights and new OEM taillights.  Exterior modifications include custom front and rear bumpers, a front mounted oil cooler, a custom ducktail rear decklid with “Carrera RS” badging, anodized black aluminum trim and 3-piece BBS Motorsport E28 wheels with magnesium centers.  These wheels were also dressed in new Pirelli P-Zero tires within the last few hundred miles.

Inside, you will find a custom leather interior featuring reupholstered 1975 Recaro racing seats, a new leather dashboard, leather RS-style door cards and a new black headliner.  Custom Carrera carpeting has been fitted along with red seatbelts, OEM seatbelt receivers, an aluminum pedal set, MOMO steering wheel and custom instrument gauges with a 10,000 RPM tachometer.  It is safe to say that no expense was spared on this extraordinary cockpit.

Replacing the original 2.7L power plant is an upgraded 3.6L Porsche 993 Varioram flat-six engine, which was specially selected for greater horsepower and torque.  After being completely re-worked, this engine now produces approximately 315 HP which is sent to the rear wheels by way of a rebuilt magnesium-case 915 5-speed manual transmission.  For maximum stopping power, this 911 sports Pagid competition brake pads, upgraded 2-piece aluminum floating hat brake rotors, cross drilled rotors and Porsche OEM big red brake calipers.  Additional engine and transmission upgrades include:

  • Porsche GT Gears
  • Quaife Limited Slip Differential
  • Internal Gate Shifter
  • Shift Rod and Tower Bushings
  • Shift Coupler with Billet Collar
  • Custom Exhaust and Headers
  • 997 GT3 Muffler with titanium tips
  • WEVO Engine Mounts
  • New Air Intake
  • New Oil Tank with Level and Temp Sensors
  • Oil Line Heat Shields
  • Custom Wiring Harness
  • Bosch Motorsports Fuel Pump
  • 85L RS Fuel Tank with Custom Skid Plate

Built for performance, this 911 also highlights a completely reworked suspension system including motion control suspension remote reservoirs with 18-click double adjustable struts and shocks, 19mm raised spindles with competition gussets, 22mm sway bars with billet upper shock tower support, upper mono ball shock mounts, and a TRG shock tower brace.  Additionally, Elephant Racing poly bronze suspension bearings and bushings were added all around with Elephant Racing advanced tech adjustable rear spring plates and their quick-change rear splined hub.  Porsche Turbo tire rods were also added, along with WEVO RARB console rear sway reinforcements, a TRG bump steer kit, and hollow torsion bars (24mm front, 31mm rear).  Since being sold on PCARMARKET in 2019, this 911 has undergone routine maintenance and is said to be in exceptional driving condition.

When the initial build was completed, the proud owner took the car to five different concours events.  At four regional events, the car took 1st place in the G-body class with a score never lower than 178 out of 180 points.  More recently, this 911 won first in class at the 50th anniversary of Rennfest in Atlanta, GA with a score of 179.8 out of 180 points.

This sale will include books, documentation, photos of the build and a set of 2 keys.  Do not miss this unique opportunity to get behind the wheel of a truly exceptional Porsche 911 outlaw.

  • Two_tone_Tommy (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

@nobrakes I had put this car on my watch list and just read your comment. I just reviewed the photos (which seem to have been updated) and for as much as there are a few additional upgrades not listed in the auction, it’s pretty clear to understand the brake and suspension setup through what’s listed (prose included). It’s now gone beyond my bidding range but this is one Beast of an air cooled 911.

The use of prose to describe the modifications here is pure gobbledygoop... "upgraded 2-piece aluminum hat floating brake rotors, new mounts and cross drilled Porsche OEM brake rotors", is it upgraded or oem? new mounts for what, the rotors, isn't that called a hub?? or are the rotors "floating" on something different altogether?? It would certainly be more informative to describe the caliper rather than just giving the brand of brake pad as your lead in to what was executed on the brake system. And the description of the suspension is equally disjointed and hard to follow, for many I am sure, leaving the purpose of the red buttons to our wildest vin diesel imaginations. Please guys, you can do better than this.

The listing specifies that the engine was "completely re-worked" during the build. Does that mean that it was re-built? Is there documentation/details of the work? Thanks.

  • steve-racer 6 monthsago

wow, this is a perfect build. I am on the fence about doing it on a real '75 carrera though. only 395 made. I had 2 of them. This build is so custom it could have been done on a regular 911SC. BUT , at this level I am getting over it : ) beautiful ! from the right engine to the color. just wow.

  • Upshift4 (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

It looks like it has been raised about and inch or so. Is that correct ? And if yes, who did it and performed the re-aligment? Has it been re-corner balanced?

  • Ich_fahre_schnell (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

I have been fortunate enough to drive this car and all I can say is WOW. This is one of the most incredibly built and hands down perfect Porsches ever. Whoever wins this is going to have a permanent smile from ear to ear.

  • Upshift4 (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

    @PCARMARKET ; Car Porn!

  • PCARMARKET 6 monthsago

As per the seller, a full leak-down test and inspection has been performed on the vehicle in which all cylinders were below 3% on leak-down and all cylinders over 185-psi on compression. Found one weak injector to be the culprit of the misfire and all six injectors will be replaced for peace of mind.

*A new engine video has been posted.

  • FisterD 6 monthsago

@camel993 Thanks for the clarification. GLWS!

  • camel993 (seller) 6 monthsago

@FisterD When I purchased the car the seller advertised it as such. After some feed back I am unsure so the ad has been updated to remove it. Sorry for any confusion.

@Upshift4 The car hadn’t been run in a while and it cleared out after being driven.
Possibly a lightly fouled spark plug.

Agreed with Upshift4 on the misfire. Had our race tech view the video and he concurs. I’d like confirmation that this is sorted out prior to bidding.

  • FisterD 6 monthsago

Nice looking car. I am curious about the "R-Gruppe" designation. Was this built or owned by an R-Gruppe member?

  • camel993 (seller) 6 monthsago

@TRracer can make an appointment to see car at PCAR market headquarters. If you wish

  • camel993 (seller) 6 monthsago

    @TRracer yes heat system.

    No AC

  • camel993 (seller) 6 monthsago

@TRracer located in NY Long Island.

  • TRracer (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

    Very nice looking car.

Would like to see the car in person. Is it located in NY with the owner or is it in Atlanta since you mention it won at the Atlanta Rennfest event?

You show the heater controls; does the heating system still operate? Is there any AC?

  • Upshift4 (registered bidder) 6 months, 1 weekago

Sounds like it’s not firing on one cylinder
