Evolved from the legendary 911 Carrera 2.7 RS, the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 featured a fuel-injected 3.0-liter engine, utilizing the same die-cast aluminum crankcase as the newly introduced Porsche 911 Turbo (930). It was situated between the standard 911 and the 911 Turbo in Porsche’s European RoW model range from 1976 to 1977, during which time only 3,687 cars were manufactured. This 1977 example is one of 2564 Coupes produced in total and comes finished in Copper Brown Metallic over a Cork leather interior with pinstripe velour seat centers. It comes equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, an optional sunroof, a whale tale rear spoiler, a stainless-steel exhaust system, Bilstein lowering springs, and more. The car is said to have been purchased in Europe in the late 1980s and was owned in New England up until 2014. It was later purchased by a car collector who oversaw a complete restoration that was completed in 2021. Accompanied by extensive documentation and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this Carrera 3.0 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

This 911 is finished in Copper Brown Metallic and features black Carrera script side stripes, a factory whale tail rear spoiler, a front chin spoiler, front fog lights, headlight washers, impact bumpers, a fender-mounted antenna, pop-out rear quarter windows, and 16” Fuchs alloy wheels. The seller notes the car was refinished in its original color during the restoration and has been driven approximately 4k miles since. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, this Carrera 3.0 features Cork leather upholstery complemented by matching carpets, a beige headliner, and pinstripe velour seat centers. Accessories include a black three-spoke steering wheel, custom coco floor mats, power windows, a quartz clock, and a Porsche-branded Blaupunkt cassette stereo. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.

The Carrera 3.0 is powered by an air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine featuring a die-cast aluminum case, Nikasil cylinders, and a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system derived from the 911 Turbo. Up to 200 HP and 188 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle. Other equipment includes four-wheel disc brakes, front and rear anti-roll bars, Bilstein lowering springs, and an aftermarket stainless-steel exhaust system. The seller adds that the fuel system was restored by CIS Flowtech in Alabama, and the top-end of the engine was restored by a local collector including service to the heads & piston rings.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a spare tire, a jack, service records, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title.

According to the Carrera 3.0 registry, this car should have engine number 6671166. The engine is everything in these 3.0s. Seller should post pic of the engine stamp and the COA.

This car is amazing. Don’t listen to the “mo”it alls below with no cash to buy any car. Great buy for anyone.

  • bigchungus (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

    @wingsandwheels agreed

  • Rockysultimategarage (seller) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@Wingsandwheels I'm no Porsche specialist like yourself, just doing my best to provide information about the car that I was given.

  • Wingsandwheels 1 month, 2 weeksago

@bigchungus I know, it was more a commentary on the seller’s increasingly apparent lack of knowledge about the car. Maybe if they get the shots you requested the car can speak for itself

  • bigchungus (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@wingsandwheels This lower than Europe ride height, but it doesn't matter. That's an easy fix.

@Rockysultimategarage Still waiting to see pics of engine numbers and COA.....

  • Wingsandwheels 1 month, 2 weeksago

@Rockysultimategarage that doesn’t really make sense. These have torsion bars, not springs and the Bilsteins have nothing to do with ride height. But from your notes and visually it appears it was lowered to European ride height - which is likely its original ride height since this is a European model. Maybe when it was imported it was raised to US height for federalization and it’s since been corrected back?

  • bigchungus (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@Rockysultimategarage thanks. Must not have uploaded yet. Not seeing

Hello everyone! Thank you for the interest in our beautiful 911. More pics and videos which were requested will be posted today.

  • MB-porsche (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Looks very nice! and a nice renovation job with a quick check, some pictures under the car would be interesting to see as well as a driving video, but these are incredible cars to drive! then the car still has original rear spoilers and many other original parts that are very hard to find today so it looks like a very well-restored car! little sister to this one http://930no55.com/

  • bigchungus (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Please post pictures of the COA, engine serial number and engine type stamps. The engine is everything in these Carrera 3.0s. Many, many of these cars were driven hard and had their engines replaced. If this is a matching numbers car, it is worth every penny. The nature/rareness/value of this model (Carrera 3.0) has not really been discovered yet especially in the US.

These are advertised as 200hp cars. Where did you lose 3hp. More information about restoration needed. Engine/transmission revised? More photos of condition of the body and underneath needed. Suspension now has coils?

  • Arffbubba (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Hi, beautiful example here. Love that brown. Must be getting old or deadly for anything other than red… did I spy Carrera tensioner oil lines?

  • NickW21 (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Looks like a beauty of a mid year. That said, to help determine value, you really should post some pics of the underside of the car. Folks need to see the condition of the exhaust, suspension, floor pans, etc. Get her up on a lift and take a lot of photos and you’ll be thankful you did. GLWTA!

Mentions air conditioning as an option, but no components or controls are present.

  • richardrobert 1 month, 2 weeksago

Looks like a very very nice 3.0. Are you going to post pics of the COA, Engine and transmission serial numbers, pictures under the car? What about records of engine, transmission work? I'm assuming this was done during the restoration?
