Being auctioned is a 1978 911 SC Coupe that has been converted into a one-of-a kind off-road “Safari” build.  Reportedly sold new at Hahn Porsche in Fellbach, Germany, this SC made several appearances at concours events in Europe before being exported to the United States.  As a European market vehicle optioned without a sunroof, radio, or air-conditioning, it was the perfect candidate for what would become one of Makellos Classics most unique and ambitious projects to date.  Completely rebuilt from the ground up in 2018 using top of the line performance parts, this Safari SC gained plenty of attention at the 2018 SEMA show and was featured on the cover on Total 911 magazine.  This head-turning 911 now shows just 86k miles and is being offered for auction by it's seller located in Escondido, California.

Looking prepared to take on the Dakar Rally, this Safari 911 is a far cry from its factory configuration.  Some exterior modifications include 9eleven Raven S headlights and a fiberglass rear deck lid with ducktail spoiler.  The Cibie rally lights help to complete the off-road look while serving as practical utilities.  Custom fabricated front and rear brush guards with aluminum skid plates protect the engine, transmission, and fuel tank.  This 911 rides on fifteen52 Outlaw 003 wheels which come wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion K Gravel tires.  The seller states that body appears to have been repainted in Guards Red by a previous owner and that a small amount of bubbling is present at the bottom of the front right fender.  With all of its vintage off-road charm, this Safari build has plenty of character and is sure to draw crowds just about anywhere it goes.

Loaded with exciting upgrades, the all-business interior of this Safari 911 beautifully compliments the rugged vintage-racing theme.  A Rothsport Racing quick-release steering wheel hub and Sparco 215 rally steering wheel have been installed along with Rennline aluminum floorboards.  Recaro SR3 seats are upholstered in black leatherette and red mini-pasha, a pattern carried throughout the interior on the door panels and rear side panels.  The rear seats have been deleted and new carpets have been installed.  Performance safety features include 4-point PRP harnesses and a custom double cross-braced roll cage welded to the rear strut mounts.  Front shock reservoirs are mounted to the custom fabricated front strut brace. A Rennline smuggler’s box lid and air blower cover have been fitted.  Topping off this brilliant interior is a Wevo 915 short shifter equipped with a wooden shift knob.  All accessories and electrical components remain fully functional and there are no unsightly flaws to speak of.

This 911’s peppy 3.0 liter flat-six engine sends power to the rear wheels by way of a 915 5-speed manual transmission, which has been upgraded with short-ratio Guard 2nd-4th gears and a Wavetrac limited-slip differential.  The air-cooled heart of this 911 has been enhanced with billet 964-grind camshafts, TIG-welded stainless steel headers and Elephant Racing finned oil lines.  Engine and transmission mounts have been upgraded with brand new WEVO semi-solid mounts and a custom exhaust makes for some truly great sounds.  Suspension equipment includes 3-way adjustable KW Clubsport coilovers with rally-spec valving, remote reservoirs, camber-adjustable aluminum KW front top mounts, fixed KW rear top mounts, and KW dry-break fittings for front shocks.  Also installed is a full Tarret Engineering 935 front suspension kit with custom heavy-duty ball joints, 935 rear spring plates, bump steer tie rod kit, rear monoball cartridge, front and rear sway bar and drop link kit, and 930 tie rod kit.  The rear shocks are steadied by custom-fabricated and reinforced strut mounts with bracing.  The seller states that this 911 has only been driven about 2,500 miles since the build and performs exceptionally well; photos and records of the entire build process will be provided.

Included in the sale of this outstanding custom build will be extensive records and documentation concerning the recent work performed and a clean Virginia title.  Also included will be a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirming the production date, serial numbers, original color, and equipment.  A removable off-road UMP intake system has been added, however, the stock intake system is also included with the sale.  The result of countless hours of planning and hard work, this crowd-pleasing build is different from anything else on the road.  Do not miss your chance to add this one-of-a kind Safari 911 to your life.

Welcome to this auction on our 1978 911SC Safari. I wanted to comment and Clarify everything that will be included in the sale. The decals that you may have seen in some of the pictures have been removed so the car currently looks like the main picture of the auction. Included in the sale is all of the records that we have on the build of the car a Virginia title and some documentation from before we had the car. The car does come with the tool kit as well. Also included in the sale is the roof rack that you see in some of the pictures listed here, spare magnus walker outlaw 003 wheel and the custom external air cleaner system. Feel free to ask any questions and we will try to get back to you as quickly as possible. Good luck and thank you to all the bidders.
