Available for auction is an early Porsche 911 SC 930/04 big port 3.0 liter engine.  This engine had recently undergone a fresh top end rebuild. New piston rings and ARP head studs were replaced at that time along with a Carrera tensioner update.  There are but a couple of hundred miles on the freshening and it is reported to be a very strong motor running stock cams and pistons.  The cylinder heads have been freshened up with the valves and guides found to be all within specs.  The engine is believed to be in the 80-90 thousand mile range so it was no surprise that the heads only required light machining and fresh seals.  The engine can be crated for nationwide shipping.

@PCARMARKET @PCARMARKET. How do you know if you won or the reserve was met?

  • PCARMARKET 4 years, 3 monthsago

@P60vette hello. Perhaps you are new to the site. No scam here, when bidding a temporary hold is placed on the card. Should you win, that hold becomes a charge. Please feel free to read the terms in the How it Works section.

    Thank you.

@gwarvo I have no idea to tell if the reserve is met.

  • P60vette (registered bidder) 4 years, 3 monthsago

@gwarvo I’m well aware of that, but what about my 10 percent of what I bid? I can understand a buying fee, but a fee on losing bidders? Sounds like a scam!!!

RNM. Would be nice if the reserve was that low, but I see these engines going for well over $10k.

  • P60vette (registered bidder) 4 years, 3 monthsago

@Thomasc1819 I don’t have a clue if the reserve was met, and what about my 10 percent deposit ?

  • Thomasc1819 (registered bidder) 4 years, 3 monthsago

I've never bid on this site. Is the auction over? Was I the winning bid?

  • P60vette (registered bidder) 4 years, 3 monthsago

    Did you sell it?

  • Thomasc1819 (registered bidder) 4 years, 3 monthsago

    @Miles.S Hopefully NY!

Engine has the stock cams installed. Motor is all together. I am going to guess freight would start at $500. Depending on where it is heading.

Hi there! Unfortunately, I do not have any photos of the tear down. I purchased this from a buddy in our local PCA. A local aircooled Porsche specialist performed all of the work. Stock pistons were cleaned and new rings installed. Cylinder heads cleaned, valves ground, and new valve seals installed. The ARP studs were installed and everything resealed. Timing cases have tensioner stud backs sealed as well.

    Hi Miles,
I would like further information on exactly what was done after you removed the cylinders, was any work done to the pistons themselves other than rings ?
    Cylinder head refresh ?
Do you have further picture of your tear down
And was all this done by a certified Porsche specialist
