Up for auction is this custom built 1979 911 SC rally car.  Having been used by the last three owners as a track vehicle, this SC was purchased by Redline Racing in 2010 from a PCA driving instructor in New Jersey.  Redline would continue to upgrade and race this car until 2016 at which point the last owner, Owen Gibson of T2V Racing and Restoration, had purchased it.  This SC was then sold to the current owner in 2018 who brought it to Redline service for a bare-chassis overhaul.  Fully outfitted with top-of-the line performance equipment, this 911 SC is now ready to be fully enjoyed by it's next owner on the street or track.  It now shows approximately 42k miles on the odometer and is being offered for auction by a seller in Arizona.

Originally finished in white, this 911 was repainted red a just few years ago.  The seller states that the paint shines nicely and comes protected with a layer of ceramic coating.  All four fenders and both doors are reportedly steel with the hood and rear decklid being made of fiberglass.  Front and rear Turbo bumpers have been fitted and powder coated along with the custom bumper guards and skid plates.  The Eric Linden roof rack is a recreation of an early factory rack and has been powder coated as well.  This custom build rides on chrome steel wheels which are 7 inches in the rear, 5 1/2 inches in the front and come wrapped in Maxis rally tires.  All glass windows have been replaced with lightweight Lexan including a removable rear window.  All external lighting consists of LED's including the H4 Hella headlight bulbs.  Built to race just about anywhere, this 911 SC certainly looks the part.

Inside, Vintage Recaro seats with forced air ventilation have been fitted along with a Sparco steering wheel and quick release hub.  New carpets and door panels from Autobahn were installed and the dashboard was retrofitted with full LED lighting.  An Autopower bolt-in roll bar has also been powder coated and integrated into the interior.  The factory sunroof as well as all other accessories, electrical components and gauges are said to be in excellent working order.  The seller also states that every component of this car has been cleaned, inspected, repainted or replaced as needed.

The 3.0L SC motor has been completely rebuilt from crankshaft to air filter.  The entire fuel system was gone through including the pump, accumulator, warm-up regulator and fuel distributor.  New factory fuel lines have been installed from front to rear along with new injectors and a resealed fuel cell which is good until 2022.  The exhaust system consists of B&B stainless headers running to custom Flowmaster mufflers with turn down tips which can be directed either down or to the side.  Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a limited slip 915 gearbox with close gear ratios, a Sachs sport clutch, and dry sump with optional fan cooled external oil cooler.  Built to handle off-road driving situations, the suspension is set to give 9 inches of clearance under the steering rack.  Other items on this car’s impressive list of upgrades include:

  • 23mm Rear Torsion Bars
  • Adjustable Sway Bars Front and Rear
  • Elephant Racing Spring Plates
  • Electric Dry Sump Oil Pump System
  • 930 Turbo Tie Rod Ends
  • 928 GTS Front Brakes
  • 930 Front Calipers Mounted in Rear
  • Coleman Floating Rotors
  • 32mm Axles and New CV Joints

The seller states that the new rally build, including the 3.0 motor and transmission have just under 1k miles of test driving in all conditions including rain, city, mud, back roads and track.

The sale of this exciting, custom built 911 includes comprehensive invoices , documentation and a clear title in the seller’s name.  The result of countless hours of planning and development, this SC is totally different from anything else on the road, or off.  Do not miss your chance to own a truly unique vintage Porsche that can be driven to its limits almost anywhere.

Before I changed the front and rear suspension I photographed all the settings from the last NASA track event. Change four shocks, four torsion bars, wheels and tires then adjust the ride height back to track settings she will corner at 1.6 G's and brake at 1.6G's. All the rally equipment is removable and mounted to the front and rear factory albumin turbo bumpers. I have the front and rear fiberglass racing spoilers along with light weight aluminum racing seats, gutted steel doors. Yes the both windshield and head light washer system is in and working.
