Now available for auction is this 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe finished in Silver Metallic over a Light Red leather interior. Among the first sports cars to use a turbocharged engine, the 930 left its mark on the automotive world with its impressive power and distinctive styling. Specified with equipment for the U.S. market, this 1979 example also features a factory limited-slip differential which allows the driver to make the most of the car’s 3.3L flat-six turbo engine. It was acquired by the seller in February of 2019 and has recently undergone a major service in preparation for sale including new ignition components, seals, fluids, filters, belts, and more. With just over 41k miles showing on the odometer, this classic Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California accompanied by owner’s manuals, a toolkit, and a Porsche Production Specifications certificate.
This 930 is finished in Silver Metallic, and the paint is said to appear nearly all original with the exception of the lower front bumper which has been previously refinished. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. Offering some of the most iconic stylings of the air-cooled era, this 930 is characterized by its wide fenders, front air dam, black stone guards, Tea Tray rear spoiler, and classic 16” Fuchs wheels.
Complementing the exterior finish is a striking Light Red leather interior. Only minor signs of wear are noted on the driver’s seat. Original specifications include an electric exterior mirror (right) as well as an electrically operated sunroof. A factory radio remains in place.
This 930 is equipped with a turbocharged and intercooled 3.3L flat-six engine paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox and factory optioned limited-slip differential. This U.S. market example generated as much as 265 HP and 291 lb.-ft of torque when new. Compared with the standard 911 of the time, this Turbo features firmer shock absorbers, larger rear torsion bars, and upgraded brakes similar to those used on the 917 race car. Recently in 2021, the seller carried out a major service in preparation for sale including a new valve cover gasket set, fluids, filters, spark plugs, belts, a distributor cap and rotor, fuel cap seal, axle boot kit, oil return tubes, transmission shaft seal, and adjustment of the clutch cable. The seller notes that the exhaust system equipped is non-compliant for the state of California.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, two keys, a toolkit, and a Porsche Production Specifications certificate. A beautifully appointed collector-grade example, this 930 just might be the classic Turbo you’ve been waiting for.

@Icamdarren so what if it's a 79? You know what's concerning... No driving video, no underside photos, trying to pass off as original paint. Meter readings finally at the end of the auction. Selling dealer has been trying to sell this car for a long time, you'd think they'd have their ducks in a row in trying to market it on an online auction especially since it was a no sale one month ago for $110k at Bonhams. Please already, what's your connection.
@Icamdarren no concern to me. I was out 15k ago. Adding paint meter reading at literally the last minute is silly!
@RotesAuto What’s the concern. It’s a 79.
And your timing?
@Icamdarren not silly, informative to those who were concerned over the conflicting statements regarding the repaint.

@RotesAuto Beautiful car. A few minutes left and you throw a silly comment out.

Auction wording says paint is said to appear nearly all original although the PPI says car was repainted. Any information on the repaint? Paint meter readings? Any old service records? Underside photos? Looks great but so many unknowns.
Nice colors I think. At least it's not Brown. Needs a driving video. It idles nice, but how does it Go?!

@TangerineT Those items have not been done yet. The Rocker shaft seal is still good but will need to be done in the next year or 2.
It never ceases to amaze me re some of the comments / questions . Someone is actually asking essentially for you to divulge your Reserve ?! Aye aye aye ! Great looking car by the way
@samimi Sorry the car does not come with the original Exhaust.
@RRM26 Looks like there were several recommended services not performed, to include heater lever, alignment, and especially the rocker shaft seals. Were these ever done?
@samimi now I know what you are looking at while waiting in the pick up line.
Wow.
What’s the price desired for this?
Beautiful car! Since the current exhaust doesn't pass California smog, do you still have the original exhaust?
