The Porsche 911SC was offered between 1978 and 1983 with the name ‘Super Carrera,” powered by a 3.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine. This 1979 example comes finished in Grand Prix White over a black partial leather interior and has been tastefully customized under previous ownership with widebody fender flares, a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, an upgraded sound system, a leather dashboard, a central dual-exit exhaust, and more. Acquired by the seller in August 2022, this U.S.-market example is said to have been meticulously maintained under long-term prior ownership as part of a private collection in Vancouver Island, Canada. This non-sunroof 911SC Coupe is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.

This Coupe is said to have been refinished in Grand Prix White approximately 12 years ago from its factory-specified shade of Oak Green Metallic and fitted with wide Turbo-style fenders. Additionally, rear Euro-style bumperettes were fitted along with a dual-exit central exhaust system. It also features a sunroof-delete option and rides on Italian-made replica 16” Fuchs wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes T1R tires. The seller notes very minor signs of road wear on the front bumper. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The Black partial leather interior has been modified with a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, a Kenwood stereo, Kicker speakers, and a trunk-mounted amplifier. The seller notes the air conditioning system has been removed, a leather dashboard was installed in replacement of the original cracked vinyl upholstery, and rear seats with leather backrests were installed. The rear seatbelts and straps are missing, causing the seatbacks to fold down when braking.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine sending up to 180 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller adds that service items throughout August 2022 included replacing window motors and installing a new turn signal/high beam switch lever and new dual horns. Additionally, a compression test was conducted and showed all six cylinders rated between 150-160 psi.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know:Offering up my extremely well-maintained 1979 911sc sunroof delete and widebody in Grand Prix White. Originally green, the car was converted to GPW and had the 930 steel fender flares installed at that time. The paint job and the fender flare application were impeccably done and you would not know this was not a factory M491 factory installation upon inspection. Other modifications include a twin center dual exhaust, Momo Prototipo leather steering wheel, and aftermarket stereo w/amplifier in the trunk (great sound from the speakers and more particularly from the exhaust notes). It shows 149,000 miles on the odometer, although true miles are unknown. 16" Fuchs with Toyo Proxes T1R w/225/50/16 and 245/45/16. As noted, this is a factory sunroof delete and does not have air conditioning. Recent 2023 projects included the replacement of window motors for both windows, new turn signal/high beam toggle and switch, new dual horns, and rear seats with leather uppers. The previous cracked dash was just replaced with a vintage leather dash. The interior, exterior, and motor are in excellent condition, particularly for a 44-year-old car. Originally a US car, it was owned by a prominent collector on Vancouver Island for many years and was properly looked after.”

Yes these are 930 steel fenders front and back. The installation and subsequent GPW paint job was exceptionally well done.

It will not be a problem importing back to US as this is 25+ years old and formerly registered in CA.

  • tdb1997 (registered bidder) 4 months, 3 weeksago

any knowledge as to if this would be possible to reimport back to the US (specifically CA)?

  • Buh_buh (registered bidder) 4 months, 3 weeksago

Skier1, is the car reliable enough for a small road trip home for the winning buyer?

  • skier1 (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

@JBoxerGT2. The AC compressor was the only equipment removed.

  • skier1 (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

@maladent. Crested center caps are very easy to find and relatively inexpensive. I like the look without them but if the winning bidder wants them, I will source and install for you!

  • JBoxerGT2 (registered bidder) 4 months, 3 weeksago

Wow! From one of Porsche's rarest colors, to Grand Prix white. Was the AC compressor the only thing removed as far as A/C goes? Not much of a weight savings measure to then add heavier wheels and tires. At 180hp new, with stock wheels and tires, would it drive faster then, than 25 years later drive with bigger wheels and tires? HP loss due to its mileage and age would be factor. Something to think about. Looks pretty clean, and presentable. Sounds healthy too. Could be a bargain for the right bidder. Wishing the seller good bids and top dollar 👍

@skier1 I’m curious if you tried to find crested caps for these wheels? I know it’s small stuff but I sweat the small stuff…

    1822. Thanks for your inquiry.
The wheels are high quality replicas I believe from Italy due to the stamping. These are the stamps on the inside as requested by someone recently. Fronts are 16x8 and rears 16x9. Rears have 2" H&R spacers as shown in the photo gallery.
The tires are Toyo Proxes 225/45ZR/16 up front and 245/50ZR/16 in back. Date code is 3616 which means approximately August 2016 manufacture. They are still soft, handle well with decent tread left so should get you a season or two if you’re comfortable on 7 year old tires.

What size and make are the wheels? Fuchs?

Hello Porsche aficionados and auction participants. I am happy to answer any and all questions during the auction and I welcome any locals, WA residents and anyone else who can make the journey to see this car in person. It is worth the trip.
In the meantime I will address questions thus far.
As far as the previous BaT action is concerned, it did 'sell' for $66,911 to a local who viewed and drove the car several times. At the close of auction they informed BaT, that they could not come up with all the funds and then contacted myself to see if I would take installments or a partial payment plan. This individual purchased my Tea Tray spoiler in October 2023 and was confident he would win this car. I am very excited to re-list on Pcarmart as a platform with so many quality Porsche listings and experts in the crowd.
edgy4sure - it does have a very small drip. Most of my past Gbody's had very small drips and was never a concern for me. It does not burn oil and the compression is great.
Ccoucap - I will assist in every way to make this as seamless as possible and am getting some quotes this week on brokerage and duty fees.

@Buh_buh I followed this one on BaT. It supposedly sold for $66,911 - not sure why it's for sale again 3 weeks later.

That Oak Green frunk though. 😢

Do you have a broker involved yet in transportation, customs, etc to bring into the US?
    Any estimates on cost?
Do you still have the A/C components that were removed?
    Thanks
