We are pleased to offer this 1980 Ferrari 308 GTSi finished in Rosso Corsa over a black leather interior. Introduced in 1980, the 308 GTSi was the first of the 308's to feature Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. Fewer than 2,000 examples are reported to have been produced before the introduction of the 308 Quattrovalvole in 1982. This first-year 1980 example is said to have spent its life garage-kept and has undergone a recent engine-out belt service. Now with just over 28k miles showing on the odometer, this 308 GTSi is being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.

This example comes finished in traditional Rosso Corsa with a removable black roof panel and features U.S. specification bumpers and turn signals. The 308's bodywork was styled by Leonardo Fioravanti of Pininfarina, who is responsible for some of Ferrari's most celebrated designs including the Daytona, Dino, Berlinetta Boxer, and F40. The seller notes the finish remains very well presented, additional photos can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This 308 rides on factory 16” Cromodora wheels dressed in BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires showing date codes from 2016.

Inside, you will find a black leather interior with matching black carpeting and a leather dashboard. This example features several period accessories including a leather-wrapped three-spoke Nardi steering wheel, Blaupunkt radio, and a Clifford alarm system.  The cabin exhibits some signs of age and patina, and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to remain functional.

Power comes from a Tipo 106 V8 engine equipped with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and Marelli MED 803A Digiplex electronic ignition. As much as 202 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle with a gated shifter. The CARFAX report highlights several services dating back as far as 1998, including the replacement of the thermostat, water pump, coolant reservoir, and drive belt tensioner in 2019.  The seller notes that a major engine-out belt service has also been recently completed in 2021.

This sale will include a toolkit and a clean title. Finished in Rosso Corsa and sporting a traditional gated shifter, this one-owner 308 GTSi may very well be the vintage Ferrari you’ve been searching for.

@Crave Thank you for the additional information and complete transparency.

    Hello bidders,

Please be advised that this vehicle is NOT a one-owner despite the Carfax record and title of listing here. Carfax has not been around long enough to register the owner's previous to the most recent one. Service records from 1981-1998 show that the vehicle was serviced under three additional names bringing the total number of owners to four. I apologize for this oversight in the listing. We have multiple vehicles on the website and the title of this one flew under the radar. Nonetheless, this Ferrari comes with complete service records of its over 40 year lifetime and remains in excellent condition. GLWTA

@Interested Yes, the previous owner was a collector who kept the vehicle in his display garage. As a result, it was hardly driven during his ownership. A repaint was performed due to the Ferrari's age. The wear on the seats is similarly evidence of age rather than usage. Yes, we do have service records for the period between 1981-1998. All major services from this time are recorded in the Ferrari's original service record manual. I can provide pictures if you like. Lastly, the tachometer and speedometer are both in working condition.

@Gblankoph There are no leaks or rust on this example.

  • Crave (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@rhmoritz Yes, mounting screws on the stereo plate are not present. However, the stereo is securely positioned without them.

No horse in the race hear but wanted to chime in.
The wear on seats and everywhere else looks spot on.
41 year old car repaint seems normal but seller response would be helpful. Looks like nice one owner car that should find a new home. GL2ALL

03/28/2005 - 06/02/2011, only 94 miles driven over a span of six years?
    Why was this vehicle repainted?
The left side of the driver's seat seems very tattered for being driven 28K miles.
Are there any other records of the 17 years before 05/29/1998?
As others pointed out, the clutch pad seems very worn out for only having 28K miles.
Is the speedometer stuck at 5 mph?
Is the tachometer stuck at 500 RPMs?

That’s significant wear and tear on the clutch pedal for 28k miles. Is the stereo face plate missing it’s mounting screws?

  • Coachmule (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@SkyMotorCars if flipping old tires adds 20k I’ll buy a whole bunch of cars and flip the tires. Or better yet how about buy some good Michelin’s for it.

  • SkyMotorCars (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Flip the tires around, add $20k to the value….

  • Crave (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@Coachmule Hi. Yes, the Ferrari will pass emissions in California as this is a US spec vehicle equipped with catalytic converters. We do have the receipt on the belt service, though no one has performed a recent PPI. As far as service records, we do have an extensive binder that details the majority of the vehicle's service history. I will be happy to share the records if you so desire. Please let me know.

    Thank you for your questions.

  • Coachmule (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Good afternoon will this car pass emissions in California? Are the catalytic converters on the car , you have service records going back how far ? Do you have the receipt on the belt service has anyone done a ppi inspection? Love the car but worthless if it can’t pass smog.

  • jbauto (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Gages are cloudy, but it looks like a clean 1 owner. The T/A's are kind of refreshing to see. GL

  • Crave (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@rhmoritz Hi. The tachometer is functioning perfectly fine. Thank you for clarifying though. Yes, the tire choice is a bit different, but the previous owner felt they paired well. To each their own.

  • rhmoritz (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Hard to tell if the tach was functioning in the video. Can you comment? Unusual to see RWL tires on a Ferrari.
