Available for auction is this 1980 Mercedes-Benz R107 450SL finished in Orient Red over a Beige leather interior. Produced for 18 years, the Mercedes-Benz R107 was the first SL-Class roadster to offer a V8 engine. This 1980 example was acquired from its original owner out of Florida in 2020 and comes equipped with a removable painted hardtop, Bundt wheels, cruise control, and power windows. Now, this SL is being offered for auction by its seller out of California showing just under 71k miles on the odometer.
This R107 comes finished in Orient Red (501) with a custom double-pinstripe, retractable soft top in burgundy, and a removable painted hardtop. Other features include lower front fog lights, chrome mirror caps and wheel-arch trims, U.S. specification bumpers, and 15-hole light alloy 14" Bundt wheels dressed in Michelin tires from 2014. The cabin is trimmed in Beige (235) leather with matching carpets and wood inlays on the dashboard, and center console. Features included power windows, automatic climate control, central locking, cruise control, and the original Becker radio. The seller confirms all gauges, electronics, and accessories remain fully functional.
A fuel-injected 4.5L M117 V8 engine rated at 160 HP drives the rear wheels by way of a 3-speed automatic transmission. A small collection of service records are said to remain from its previous owner, and the current owner is said to have performed standard oil and filter changes as needed.
