Offered between 1978 and 1983, the 911SC was given the name ‘Super Carrera,” powered by a 3.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine. Finished in the traditional Porsche shade of Guards Red over black leather upholstery, this Coupe has been upgraded with a lowered European-spec stance, Turbo tie rods, 16” wheels, Tartan cloth seat inserts, TAG Heuer rally timers, SSI heat exchangers, a Dansk stainless muffler, and more. Fortified with a rebuilt engine, a recent engine & transmission oil change, and the installation of new fuel lines, pumps, filters, and more, this SC is now being offered for auction by its seller and PCA member out of Florida with approximately 126k miles on the odometer.

This Coupe is said to have been previously refinished in its factory-specified shade of Guards Red. Equipment includes a sunroof, H4 headlights, dual exterior mirrors, and impact bumpers. The seller adds that the stance has been lowered to European specification, new brake calipers were installed, and 16” Fuchs wheels are mounted with older Continental tires measuring 205/55 up front and 225/50 out back. A fiberglass ducktail decklid will accompany the sale, and the exterior of the car is described to be in driver condition with the presence of some paint chips and scratches from road use. Some autocross attendance is reported, and one small rust spot behind the battery has been cut out and treated with zinc and paint. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is appointed with black leather upholstery. It has been tastefully modified to include red and blue Tartan cloth seat inserts, an upgraded radio with a USB connector, vintage TAG Heuer rally timers, and a Rennline trunk stiffener, fan cover, and metal floorboards. A WEVO shifter is also said to accompany the sale. The seller notes the fuel gauge tends to fog when high humidity is present, the electric radio antenna is currently inoperable, and the A/C has been removed, although all other gauges and accessories are working properly.

The air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine produces up to 180 HP and drives the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed 915 manual transmission. The seller states the engine was rebuilt under previous ownership, and they acquired the vehicle at 123k miles on the odometer with 14k miles since the rebuild. Recent service items are said to include an engine and transmission oil change along with replacements to the fuel lines, pumps, filters, and accumulator. Additionally, the fuel tank is said to have been removed and inspected, followed by the installation of a new tank filter. Mechanical upgrades include SSI heat exchangers, a Dansk stainless steel muffler, Bilstein shocks, and a European-specification suspension set-up.

This sale will include a clean title, a WEVO shifter, a fiberglass ducktail decklid, and a battery charger.

The seller would like you to know: “I have owned this car for several years and belong to the local PCA - the car has always been kept inside my shop. The car has been a favorite at auto crosses and events and is a joy to drive - just the right amount of Vintage Hot Rod Style and reliability. The car is a perfect candidate for someone who wants a great driving SC that's not priced out of sight. Drive it - Enjoy it while you continue to improve it in your own way...”

Thanks for the question - no I don’t have that - PCAR Market did not suggest that .
I may have time to add that later today but the auction may be over by then ?

  • vwagcmc (registered bidder) 3 monthsago

Do you have a driving video in the car going through the gears?

  • Long007 (seller) 3 monthsago

Battery corrosion area is about 1.5 inch
X 6.5 inch . Metal was removed and ground out and tested with Zinc and then painted it to protect it- this behind the battery at top of battery . It never bothered me so I never took the time to patch it .

Hello - the car is an original AC car ,
However the AC is not installed. My plan was to install the new electric AC offered by
    Classic Retrofit ..

  • AnyOldIron (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

@long007 does the AC blow cold? is anything at all Non-operational on the car?

  • Long007 (seller) 3 months, 1 weekago

Hello - those are the points that Fog lamps would be installed / mounted - I do not have the lamps.

    Thanks

  • AnyOldIron (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

What are we looking at in Pics 41 and 42? I’m not familiar with that piece / missing piece. Thank you.

  • Kevinmr (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

Yes be fortunate you don't have to deal with Calif requirements! Any car 1976 or later has to be smog compliant, and it isn't a rolling date.

Anyway, someone in Calif can buy your car and swap in some period correct exhaust equipment for the biannual testing...so I don't want to rain on your sale. Just requires a bit of work as the SSI etc don't work here. 49 other states don't care!

  • Long007 (seller) 3 months, 1 weekago

Thank you and Not Familiar with CA exhaust requirements - Sorry to hear that !

  • Kevinmr (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

Very nice driver. Too bad the exhaust is no bueno for Calif. GLWTA!

  • Long007 (seller) 3 months, 1 weekago

Hey thanks for the question - the car sits pretty low and is level. We took the pictures on an uneven gravel lot - that could be contributing to it ? The oil stains on the manifold are from sitting for longer periods of time without driving. In storage these engines will pool oil in bottom of cylinders and some can weep past into the combustion chamber, After sitting a long time on start up it will smoke for a min. The engine is very dry and when used regularly it does not occur.
I’ve only driven the car 3000 miles since I’ve owned it so it does sit for a month or so at a time . Thanks

  • Bruce914 (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

Good looking car. Should the front be a little lower? Signs of oil leaks on exhaust and decklid - have those been addressed?
