Now available for auction is this 1983 Porsche 911SC Targa finished in Guards Red over a Grey Beige leather interior. Representing the final year of the 911SC, this 1983 Targa has resided in Florida since 2002 and is accompanied by a record of service carried out since then including an engine and transmission rebuild as well as the recent replacements of the clutch, flywheel, and rear axle assembly. A well-maintained driver-grade example, this final-year 911SC Targa is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Florida with just over 192k miles showing on the odometer.
This 911SC comes finished in Guards Red with a removable roof panel and black Targa band. Other details include a lower front spoiler, rectangular front fog lights, chrome headlight bezels, and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels fitted with colored Porsche center crests and Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires. The rear half of the car was refinished in 2004 and some additional touch-ups were performed the following year along with refinishing of the Targa band. The exterior exhibits various cosmetic flaws and imperfections as depicted in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, this Targa sports Grey Beige leather upholstery with matching carpets and a black dashboard. An aftermarket MOMO steering wheel was equipped in 2013, the A/C was upgraded with a new Kuehl compressor in 2017, and the shifter assembly was rebuilt in 2021. Cracks are present on the dashboard and the door pockets are missing from both the driver and passenger sides. A modern Pioneer head unit and upgraded door speakers have been equipped and the seller reports the dashboard clock is nonfunctional.
This 911SC is equipped with an air-cooled 3.0L flat-six engine rated at 180 HP and 175 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine was rebuilt in 2004 at 170k miles followed by a rebuild of the transmission in 2006 at 176k miles. An upgraded MSD ignition box and blaster coil have been installed and the seller has provided the following maintenance log dating from 2002 to the present:
Accompanied by a clean title, this 1983 911SC presents an excellent value for any driver in search of a classic air-cooled Targa.

@Roma I didn’t have a lift so I couldn’t get any good underside pics. From what I understand when I did bring it to a local shop, the rust didn't go through under when the mechanic had it up on the lift, not a “rust bucket” l. I wish he took pics. If you want to talk to the mechanic, you can call Kevin at KMW Motorsports in Boca. He’s an air cooled specialist.
Without any underside pics I assume any amount of underbody rust would be in commensurate with what is on the body?
Last day, looking forward to making a deal with someone. Good luck to all the bidders. I’m here to answer any questions. Thanks.
