Now up for auction is this 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa finished in Guards Red.  This 1985 example reportedly came factory optioned with a limited-slip differential and factory Sports Suspension and has been treated to over $20k worth of refurbishment and upgrades in recent years including new rubber seals, custom interior trim and upholstery, upgraded projector headlights, and a full engine rebuild.  Showing just over 84k miles on the odometer, this classic air-cooled Targa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Ohio.

This Carrera comes finished in the traditional Shade of Guard Red with a black Targa band and removable roof panel.  The door seals and Targa top seals have been recently replaced and modern-style projector headlights have been installed.  Some signs of road-going wear are present on the rocker panels and wheel arches, additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.  The factory 16” Fuchs wheels have been recently dressed in a set of new Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport tires sized 205/55 front and 225/50 in the rear.

Inside, the cabin has been redone with new black and red houndstooth upholstery along with Rennline aluminum pedals, door handles, door lock pins, and door lock knob bezels.  Other customizations include an aluminum ignition surround and instrument bezels as well as a wood-rimmed MOMO steering wheel and 917-style shift knob.  The original Blaupunkt Bremen radio has been retained and paired with upgraded Infinity speakers.

This Carrera is equipped with an air-cooled 3.2L flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox that sends as much as 207 HP to the rear wheels.  The car is said to have also came factory optioned with a limited-slip differential and Sports Suspension package.  In 2015, over $12k was invested in a full engine rebuild including all new seals, belts, hoses, ignition components, a new clutch, and much more.  A corresponding invoice is provided for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include the original owner's manuals, spare tire, some invoices and a clean title. Tastefully customized and with a fully rebuilt engine, this Targa is just waiting to please its next owner.

Does anyone think the headlight rings would look better in Guards Red than black?

Does anyone think the red and black houndstooth upholstery clashes with the Guards Red exterior color? Maybe it is just the photography. Looks like a nice 85 Targa. It would look nice next to my Carmine Red 2018 Targa 4 GTS 6 speed. I am going to bid.

Love the interior upgrades. Could you comment on the air conditioning and if it works? Also any undercarriage pictures to show any oil leaks and condition of the motor and transmission? Thanks
