This 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa comes finished in Meteor Grey Metallic over a black interior and had been under the care of its previous owner from 2004 up until the seller’s purchase in 2019. The car is accompanied by invoices dating back to the early 2000s including the replacement of the clutch, ignition wires, and rear shocks along with the installation of an upgraded steering wheel, rear wing, and a center-exit performance muffler. Showing approximately 136k miles on the odometer, this Targa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Missouri.
This 911 is finished in Meteor Grey metallic with a black Targa bar and removable roof panel as well as a heated wraparound glass rear window. A matching Carrera RS 3.8 style rear wing was installed under prior ownership along with an aftermarket performance muffler with dual center-exit tailpipes. The seller notes the original muffler is included in the sale. The car rides on 17” Porsche 996 Twist wheels which come finished in black and were mounted with Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position SL tires in 2016. The brake calipers are painted red and records indicate the car was refinished in 2008. The seller notes one scratch near the right headlight as well as a small touched-up chip near the left headlight. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black interior has been fitted with an upgraded three-spoke leather sport steering wheel and features electrically adjustable front seats, power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, and a sound system featuring an aftermarket Alpine Bluetooth head unit as well as upgraded Pioneer and Infinity speakers. All gauges and accessories are said to remain fully functional.
An air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 207 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle. Service records show the ignition wires were replaced in 2003, a new clutch was installed in 2010, the rear shocks were replaced in 2013, and a new battery was installed in 2016. Under current ownership, the DME relay was replaced along with the fan and A/C belts, hood struts, and evaporator blower motor. The seller notes the A/C uses original R12 refrigerant and the fan impeller is slightly bent and rubs on the housing upon startup. The plastic motor housing is also cracked.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, service records, a car cover, a battery charger, the original muffler, a front bra cover, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for looking at this car. It is in great shape for a 1985. I have owned it for 4 years and a friend of mine owned it for 15 years prior. He added a number of upgrades (wheels, wing, tires, stereo, steering wheel) and had the exterior refinished.”

See you there
I’ll park as close to Clayton as I can.
I can be there in 15 minutes.
@BigDaddyK How about we meet at Schnucks on Lindbergh and Clayton? What time can you be there?
Sir: I'm available anytime now. Just tell me when and where.
@BigDaddyK It looks like it might stop raining this afternoon. What time this evening are you thinking?
Sir: I could make Thursday after work, or if you want to do this weekend we can. It’s supposed to rain Thursday.
@BigDaddyK Has this thread been shut down?
@BigDaddyK Did you say you could make Thurs evening?
Sir: I can’t do Wednesday. I’m not sure how we can get in touch with each other directly. I guess we can set up a time and location to meet up. I can do Friday afternoon if that works for you.
@PTSSTL Wednesday evening after 7p will work as long as my flight is on time.
After work Thursday, most of the day Friday, and this weekend. Is there a way that we can privately exchange information?

@the8thbif I talked to the previous owner who had it from ‘03 to ‘19. Neither of us are aware of a rebuild, just fixing anything needed i.e. changing out the plugs/wires and just overall tuning of the engine. Clutch and alternator, blade fan, and housing have been replaced.
Has the engine ever been rebuilt?
