Now available for auction is this 1986 Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe finished in Paint to Sample Ruby Red Metallic. One of the most iconic Porsches of all time, this 1986 Turbo was sold new in Illinois and came optioned with a limited-slip differential, brown full leather upholstery, a sunroof, rear window wiper, and electrically operated Sport Seats. This 930 was acquired by the current owner in 1998 with approximately 26k miles and has been used very sparingly over the past decade. It was also treated to a major service in April of 2021 including a top-end engine rebuild, a new turbocharger, and gearbox synchronizers. This striking 1986 example is now being offered for auction by its longtime second owner out of Florida while showing approximately 44k miles on the odometer.
This 930 was ordered in Paint to Sample Ruby Red Metallic, a shade that was normally unavailable for the 1986 model year. Several touched-up chips and scratches are noted on the front fenders, and the seller reports the front hood, bumper, and valance to have been previously refinished along with a small area on the left front fender behind the wheel. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report. The factory 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels are adorned with colored Porsche center crests and come dressed in a set of new Yokohama Advan tires.
The cabin is trimmed in brown full leather upholstery with a matching dashboard and carpeting. Optional equipment includes a sunroof, rear window wiper, a steering wheel with an elevated hub, and electrically adjustable Sport Seats. The original leather dashboard and headliner are noted to be in great shape and the seller reports very slight wear to the driver’s upper seat bolster. Upgraded speakers have been installed along with a new period-correct Blaupunkt radio retrofitted with Bluetooth connectivity. The air conditioning and sunroof mechanism have been recently serviced and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
This 930 derives as much as 282 HP and 289 lb.-ft of torque from an air-cooled 3.3L flat-six turbocharged and intercooled engine. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual gearbox with a factory optional limited-slip differential. In April of 2021, a major service was completed by Moss Wells of Jacksonville, Florida, including a top-end engine rebuild, installation of a new turbocharger, new gearbox synchronizers, a brake service, and thorough inspection.
This sale will include a spare tire and a clean title. An automotive icon of the 1980s, this beautifully appointed Paint to Sample 930 Turbo awaits its next owner.

Re : swapping out the 4 speed for a 5 speed trans
Most would prefer the car ( Porsche ) to be as " original " as possible
for the highest resale value ( imho )
Also, I have found, the 4 speed is really all you need for these 930 Turbo's
I totally dig my 1987 930 ! ( 39 K miles )
That said, I did upgrade the exhaust, inter-cooler, steering wheel and radio.
But have and will keep all factory parts for the future
BTW the exhaust upgrade, Fab-speed muffler by pass I believe, made a really BIG difference
in performance and sound
Hope you get this beauty !
You will enjoy I'm sure !
Good luck

This car is super clean on top and underneath. Impressive example in a unique color combination.

@Moby242 Swapping in a later 5 speed is not that simple...as for nitrous, well you can give it a try!
@Defender-90 The dash and steering wheel are brown leather that matches the seat. Both are original to the car.
With it being a 4 speed, can you just add a 5th gear in the box to make it faster top end? Do you think with the recent top engine rebuild that it could handle a bottle of nitrous oxide?
is the dash seats and steering wheel black?
Very nice looking 930 turbo
Not that many miles at 44, still in that sweet spot for selling I believe.
The exterior and paint looks in very good condition as does the interior.
Having recently purchased my new 1987 930 Turbo, very interested in how this auction goes
Good luck to all
I just uploaded a large number of pictures that show the recent work that was done. This includes detailed photos of the motor rebuild, and gear box. All highly detailed.

I’m excited to offer this 930 here. I’ve known this car for years and was recently asked to sell it for the long term owner. Besides the great color, it has received a major service. To say that this particular 930 drives great is an understatement. The power is intoxicating, it handles great, and there are no squeaks or rattles.
The car is available for personal inspection. Please contact me directly through the Contact Seller button. I’m happy to answer questions either through comments or Contact Seller.
