Introduced in 1983 as an evolution of the 924, Porsche expanded its 944 lineup in 1986 with the Turbo model. This 1986 example is refinished in red and features a reupholstered black interior and replaced interior trim components. It boasts 16” phone dial wheels, a refreshed suspension set, a refurbished head, a limited-slip differential, a MOMO steering wheel, a short-shift kit, Koni dampers, a MagnaFlow muffler, an Alpine CD stereo, and Pioneer speakers. This 944 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

Originally finished in Guards Red, this 944 Turbo underwent a repaint in 2022, during which time the brake duct shields, air scoop channels, badges, and weather seals were replaced. Its exterior features include a sunroof, pop-up headlights, fog lights, a rear spoiler, and a polished single exhaust outlet. It rides on 16” phone dial alloy wheels, refinished under current ownership, fitted with BFGoodrich G-Force Comp-2 A/S tires (205/55 front and 225/50 rear) installed in 2022. Additionally, the Porsche-branded calipers were refinished during this period. Detailed images are provided in the gallery, along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the seats underwent reupholstering in black vinyl during the current ownership. Further refurbishments in 2022 involved vinyl coverings along the dashboard and replacing rear trim panels, rear headliner, shifter boot, glove box cover, and various interior trim components. Other features include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, an Alpine CD stereo, Pioneer speakers, power windows and locks, cruise control, and air conditioning. A  MOMO steering wheel and short-shift kit have been added. The seller notes wear in the lower left corner of the dashboard and misalignment of the glove box door. All gauges and electronics are reported to be working properly.

The turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four engine underwent modifications during current ownership, including a venturi delete kit and extensive refurbishment involving a valve job, replacement of valves, valve guides, head gasket, battery, front crankshaft seal, timing belt, water pump, alternator belt, battery temperature sensor, air conditioning receiver drier, air conditioning control unit, coolant hoses, fuel lines and seals, and ignition components. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential and is further enhanced with a Magnaflow muffler. In 2018, the clutch hydraulic cylinders were replaced, followed by a transmission fluid change in 2022. Also in 2022, maintenance included a power steering pump rebuild, steering rack resealing, and replacement of front and rear sway bar bushings, tie rod ends, front wheel bearings, brake pads, and brake hoses. Additionally, the vehicle features Koni front struts and rear shock absorbers.

This sale will include the owner’s manuals, service records, a spare stock steering wheel, two keys, and a clean title.

Holly 951... Did I do the math right? I added up around 50k + of recent receipts just from Stuttgart Performance?!? I hope @Chrisngill22 owns that or part of it ;). Anywho.... guessing it would be hard to find a more well done revive / restro that's this ready to rip! Clearly an open checkbook project. Guess we'll find out soon if someone gets a killer deal or if 'the bid goes on'... if I didn't have a cherry '81 931 and a '88 951 project on the lift currently awaiting EVERYTHING that has been done here, my fingers would be bidding right now! @Chrisngill22 holler if you want another 951 project AND a near perfect 931 trade??? GLWTA!!!

@Rickyracer954 can’t think of a better 944 than this one to recapture that enthusiasm and experience. The extra power under the hood is a nice touch too.

  • Rickyracer954 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

I bought a new 944 from Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville in 1984, the same color, and really loved the car and always wanted another one to enjoy.

  • Chrisngill22 (seller) 1 monthago

@Guyrichie thanks it was a quite an experience getting it to the condition it’s at now I hope the next owner enjoys it as much as I did in my time owning it.

@Kendall01 hi thanks for your question you’ll have to forgive these pictures they’re a bit older but yes after I had it painted some of the panel gaps were a bit big so I did take it back to the shop that did the paint job and had them adjust some of the penals especially the front bumper and the fender gaps to the hood.

  • Kendall01 1 month, 1 weekago

Hi Chris. Beautiful car! When the respray was done were any body panels adjusted? It looks as if the front area might have a few gaps from misalignment. I saw where there were no accidents so Im just curious. Not really a big deal as Im looking for a daily driver. Thanks! GLWS
