Available here for auction is this 1986 Porsche 944 finished in Guards Red over black. Benefitting from the 944’s mid-cycle update of 1985, this 1986 example features a redesigned interior among many other mechanical improvements. This particular 944 also comes equipped with factory front and rear anti-roll bars, desirable Sport Seats, an upgraded MOMO steering, and 17” Boxster wheels. Showing just over 32k miles on the odometer, this 944 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
This example has been previously refinished in its original color of Guards Red. A ceramic coating has been applied and the seller notes a scratch on the front hood, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report. The car rides on 16” Porsche Boxster S II wheels which come dressed in a set of new tires.
The black interior features power-operated Sport Seats, a detachable sunroof panel, an aftermarket radio, and a red and black leather MOMO steering wheel (original included). As a post-1985 model, this 944 also features a redesigned dashboard with larger air vents, revised switches, A/C and heating controls, and four round central instrument gauges.
This 944 is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5L inline 4-cylinder engine which was updated with redesigned combustion chambers and modified cam profiles for the second phase of production. Approximately 150 HP is delivered to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. An oil and filter service is said to have been carried out recently and there are no outstanding maintenance items reported at this time.
This sale will include the original owner's manual, a repair manual, the original steering wheel, a Porsche car cover, and a clean title. A nicely presented example of Porsche’s most iconic transaxle sports car, this lower-mileage 1986 944 is just waiting to be cherished and enjoyed by a new owner.

@Dj oops. Missed that. Thx.
@Awingold Says in the description "This example has been previously refinished in its original color of Guards Red." This is fine by me, I'm just curious about the extent of the work.
@Dj you think it was repainted?
Bare metal re-spray of the entire car? Was there any bodywork or damage?
Is a 25% delta on the paint readings panel to panel normal?
Can anyone tell me why I see a lot of 944s with a dent on the hood in generally the same exact place? This car shows a similar dent.
However...what a BEAUTY!
If a woman this gorgeous walked into the bar, I would forgive the dent on the hood, and I would not give a crap if she had a firing sticker! (By the way, what is a firing sticker?)
Thanks, Everyone!
A firing order sticker is missing on the right side of picture 104. It's located on the square detail just above the rotor cap. I sold my 87-944 Turbo last year, and it took me 2 years to find a reproduction firing order sticker out of England. Once your bidding closes, let me know if you are interested in getting one....
@joseph there is one on the firewall
Looks like you are missing a firing order sticker on your car.
