In 1986, the Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe was introduced specifically to homologate Chevrolet's new sleek fastback body design for NASCAR racing. Based closely on the Monte Carlo SS, the Aerocoupe received a sloping rear window, a race-inspired deck lid spoiler, 15” aluminum wheels, an F41 Sport Suspension, a Performance Axle, the Gauge Package with a tachometer, a sport steering wheel, and a 5.0-liter High Output V8 engine. This example comes finished in White with Red stripes over a Maroon interior. Initially purchased at Michael’s Chevrolet in Morgantown, North Carolina, and held as part of a private collection until recently, this Monte Carlo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania.

The styling of the Aerocoupe featured a long sloped rear window for improved airflow, reduced drag, and stability. Each example was also fitted with a rear deck lid spoiler and unique 15” aluminum wheels. This Aerocoupe comes finished in White (11) with Red race-inspired stripes. Equipment includes integrated headlights & fog lights, a T-top with removable panels, aerodynamic exterior mirrors, and distinctive “SS” badging & decals. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with Maroon cloth upholstery and a matching dashboard. The driver-focused dashboard layout presents controls and gauges which are specifically positioned for quick readability. Equipment includes bucket seats, a 3-spoke leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, and an air conditioning system. The optional C4A equipment package also includes an ETR AM/FM stereo with a cassette player & a clock, power door locks & windows, twin remote exterior mirrors, a power trunk opener, and halogen headlamps. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.

Power is derived from a 5.0-liter 4-BBL High Output V8 engine generating 180 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 4-speed GM Turbo Hydramatic automatic transmission with overdrive. Standard performance equipment includes an F41 Sport Suspension and a 3.73:1 Performance Axle. The seller adds that a safety inspection was performed in 2021, and there are currently no outstanding maintenance items.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, sales literature, some documentation, and a spare tire.

The seller would like you to know: We are proud to present this 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aero Coupe, originally purchased at Michael's Chevrolet in Morgantown, North Carolina. This one-owner car has been beautifully preserved and is believed to have only 11,137 miles! At one time in automotive history, cars that raced in NASCAR actually bore a resemblance to cars available to the public. The famous slogan "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday" was truly the reality in showrooms. Between 1986 and 1987 GM made a slight change to the Monte Carlo's design, and that was the sleek fast-back style rear window. To be eligible for NASCAR, however, GM had to sell at least 200 cars. Those 200 cars have become some of the most sought-after collectible cars in the world. This aero coupe is not one of those 200 but it is indeed one of 6,252 ever made. It still has its original 305 high output V8 with automatic transmission and 3.73 rear end.”
