This left-hand drive 1987 Land Rover Defender 110 V8 Country Station Wagon was imported from the UK to the United States where it subsequently received a full frame-off restoration, including the installation of a Chevrolet LS3 V8 crate engine with a 4-speed 4L80E automatic transmission, a repaint in Waitomo Grey Metallic, conversion to a Defender 130-style pickup bed with a custom roll bar, a fully refreshed custom interior with black diamond-stitched heated leather seats, a sunroof, front and rear steel bumpers, a rear tire carrier, upgraded LED lighting, MaxXtrac Mach 5 18” wheels with BFGoodrich K02 all-terrain tires, a Dakota Digital instrument cluster, a Puma dual-core heating and air conditioning system, HD power steering, and more. Showing just under 1300 miles since the completion of the restoration and engine swap, this modified Defender 110 is now being offered at auction by the seller based out of New York.
This Defender was subject to a frame off-restoration which included rust repair and a full repaint in the modern Land Rover color of Waitomo Grey Metallic (1AR) and a conversion to a Defender 130-style pick-up bed that features a custom black roll bar, a spray-in bed liner, and a Hi-Lift jack mount. It is reported that new door skins, door seals, stainless steel hinges, and associated hardware were also fitted during the restoration. The undercarriage was also said to be undercoated using Waxoyl rustproofing. Details include upgraded LED headlights, tail lamps, and turn signals, a black roof and black wheel arches, a Puma hood, an RDX black grille surround, black chequer plate on the hood, front bumper, and rocker panels, front and rear mudflaps, a steel front bumper with a Defender-branded crash bar and LED running lights, a rear steel bumper with a hitch receiver and a Mantec rear tire carrier, and Fire & Ice side steps. The seller reports some minor stone chips and wear throughout, detailed images are provided in the gallery. The MaxXtrac Mach 5 18” wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich K02 all-terrain tires, including a full-sized spare mounted to the rear.
The interior is laid out in a 2+2 configuration and features two Puma XS black leather heated seats with diamond-stiched inserts, and two matching rear seats. Amenities include a Puma dual-core heating and air conditioning system, cruise control, a Dakota Digital custom instrument cluster, a manually-operated sunroof, Exmoor carpeting, front and rear locking storage consoles, a Kenwood double din stereo head unit, and custom rocker panel switches.
The original V8 engine has been replaced with a Chevrolet 6.2L LS3 V8 crate engine, the same powerplant found in the fifth-generation Camaro and C6 Corvette. Up to 430 HP and 424 lb.-ft of torque are sent to all four wheels through a 4-speed 4L80E automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Other modifications include a Frostbite 3-core radiator, upgraded HD power steering, and a new stainless steel exhaust system.

@Protour2003 unfortunately I was not able to post the receipts because the owner is away but he does have a substantial amount and they will go with the truck. As for the brakes. They are 4 wheel disc brakes called the big brake upgraded. They are EBC, the Land Rover ones were too small. They stop the truck perfectly.
Can you tell us about the brakes! I see 4 wheel discs. Are they original land rover, or were they replaced during the restoration? Discs look small for a big, heavy truck with this much power. Still no luck with receipts?

@stuff it is a defender 110 crew cab. You would search for a canopy that would fit that model.
@imperial Was the conversion performed using 110 double cab pickup parts?
If I wanted to put a topper/canopy/cap/etc on the bed of this Defender, would I buy a 110 double cab pickup topper?

@Protour2003 He does have receipts and I am working on getting them to post. It has Fox racing shocks. The current owner purchased this car from Florida when the engine was just installed. He had his mechanic install all new wiring in the truck and gauges , did the interior , and had the roll bar made and the bed sprayed. He then drove it for roughly 1300 miles. My customer has had several custom cars done by his in house Mechanic and the work it top quality. There were no corners cut when he finished this truck.
@Protour2003 the owner purchased this from a builder in Florida that installed the engine and trans which is roughly 2 years old. He had his mechanic install all new wiring and gauges add fox racing shocks and did the interior of the truck. He does have receipts for the work and parts. I am working on getting them so I can post it.
@stuff it is still a 110 frame but the back was made to look like a 130 style pickup bed.

@emerge949 it’s a new LS3 motor so I would imagine you could but I suggest you contact either a local emissions shop or GM and ask them directly.
Great looking Defender. Any idea if it can be registered in CA given smog reg's?
Cool looking truck. Few questions; Do you have info on who did the work on this or more importantly, receipts? Can you provide more information on suspension improvements? Also, just so I'm following correctly, this was a wagon that was "chopped" (for lack of a better term)?
