Now up for auction is this 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe finished in Guards Red.  Originally sold from Southpointe Motorcars of Florida, this 1987 Carrera was among the first 911’s to offer the desirable G50 5-speed manual transmission and also came optioned with a Champagne Beige Special Leather interior.  This Carrera was acquired by its owner in October of 2021 and has since been treated to approximately $6k worth of service including an overhaul of the A/C system, new battery, alternator, rebuilt tachometer, new valve cover gaskets, and restoration of the original Fuchs wheels.  Accompanied by the original window sticker as well as service records dating back to 1993, this sought-after 1987 Carrera is now being offered for auction by its owner out of California with just over 32k miles on the odometer.

This Carrera comes finished in its factory specified color of Guards Red.  The car is said to have been refinished at some point under previous ownership and the seller reports minor dings on the driver side front fender and another small ding on the upper center portion of the hood.  A small area of touchup is also noted near the driver-side door handle, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  The factory 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels have been recently refinished and dressed in Continental ExtremeContact tires.

Inside, this Carrera showcases a unique Champagne Beige Special Leather interior with an electric sunroof, alarm system, cruise control, and steering wheel with an elevated hub.  Standard equipment includes heated and electrically adjustable outside mirrors, integrated front fog lights, power windows, air conditioning, and a driver seat with electric height adjustment.  Under the current ownership, the tachometer has been rebuilt, the front hood struts have been replaced, the signal/horn contact ring was repaired, and the A/C system was serviced with a new Denso compressor, belt, and drier filter.  An aftermarket head unit has been installed and the original Blaupunkt radio will accompany the sale.  Very minor signs of wear are noted on the driver’s seat and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.

This Carrera is equipped with an air-cooled 3.2L flat-six engine generating as much as 217 HP and 195 lb.-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed G50 manual transmission.  Maintenance records will accompany the sale dating back to 1993 and the seller recently had an oil change completed along with the installation of new valve cover gaskets, a new battery, alternator, and replacement of the right-front brake caliper.  In September of 2021, a Porsche specialist recommended a 60k mile service to be carried out including a brake fluid flush, new shifter bushings, and transmission service.

This sale will include a set of keys, a toolkit, air compressor, owner's manuals, service records, the original window sticker, and a clean title.  A sparingly driven and well-maintained example, this 1987 Carrera just might be the classic air-cooled Porsche you have been searching for.

@M491 the car has not been driven on salty roads to the best of my knowledge. The car is dry with no leaks, I did have some minor speeage from the valve cover gasket (appox 2-3 drops every two weeks) if I didn’t drive it. I just hade the valve cover gasket replaced (5 miles ago in Sept). Since then I’ve seeing no seepage at all from the valve cover gasket. I’m currently loading additional pics of the underside. Don’t have a lift so doing the best I can from street level. They should post soon. Hope this helps.

I see no pics of the underside. Has the vehicle ever seen salty roads and is the engine completely dry underneath. Thankyou

@Alanlee1 the compression test was done at 31,714 miles, the car currently sits at 32,461 miles.

  • LRO (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Alanlee1 the compression test results are uploaded in the picture gallery. I’ve reached out to PCA so they can upload the invoice cover page for the compression test. Hopefully they upload it soon. Nevertheless the compression figures are there to view.

  • Alanlee1 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@LRO Is there anyway if you can provide a compression /leakdown report from PPI. My main concern is the engine leak on the age of the 911 (1987). Pls advise

  • Alanlee1 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@LRO Thank you so much for your time and explanation in detail. I am interested in it but also want to compare to 964

  • LRO (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Sprayed and lubed all suspension bushings. Hope this helps!

@Alanlee1 Hi Alan, I am the 5th owner. Car was originally purchased in Florida new, sold in 1999 to second owner who then gifted to his son, sold again in May 2020. I purchased in October 2020. Between previous owner and myself, the car has been driven approximately 700 miles. I have not done a 35K service and I have no record of clutch replacement. I recently (09/21) did $3,500.00 in service work at Specialized Porsche Riverside, I instructed the tech to throughly inspect car and complete necessary services. There are still recommended services for the vehicle as described in vehicle profile above. The car runs incredibly strong and the clutch show no signs of fatigue or maintenance issues. Hope this helps.

  • Alanlee1 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

How many owners of this 911 ? Have you finish any 35,000 miles services or clutch?
