The 1987 model year featured a more powerful flat-six engine for the 911 Carrera along with a new 5-speed G50 manual gearbox providing a more refined driving experience. This 1987 example is a Carrera Targa finished in Venetian Blue Metallic over a Silver Grey Special Leather interior. It comes equipped with an optional limited-slip differential, Sport Shocks, electric Sport Seats, cruise control, and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. It was acquired by the seller about two years ago and has since been serviced with new oil and fuel lines. This Targa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York with approximately 71k miles showing on the odometer.

This 911 is finished in Venetian Blue Metallic (L36P) with a removable black roof panel, a black Targa bar, integrated front fog lights, and a PORSCHE-logo tail panel reflector. The car rides on factory 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels dressed in Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, this Targa features Silver Grey Special Leather upholstery including optional electric height-adjustable Sport Seats. Other accessories include a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, a Blaupunkt Reno SQR 46 radio. New speakers were installed in May 2023 and custom Coco floor mats are fitted in the front footwells.

An air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 217 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. Four-wheel disc brakes came standard, and this car was factory-equipped with optional Sport Shocks. The seller indicates a major service was completed under their ownership at a cost of approximately $8k including replacements of fuel and oil lines.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, service records, a Porsche Production Specifications Certificate, and a clean title.

This is a very nice looking Carrera Targa. But it's not an SC, not a coupe, hasn't even had a minor motor refresh. It is not a 92k car. Should have taken the 72k offer and moved on.

  • mikecib 2 weeks, 5 daysago

I thought the $72k bid was high, but if you want it you want it. But $92k for a non-coupe G body w/ 70k miles? No way.

  • eggsandwich (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 5 daysago

Fantastic vehicle. This will go to a lucky buyer. Very nicely presented.
The seller was very honest and responsive when I contacted him. Thank you!
I threw out almost all my cassette tapes years ago so I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Very nicely timed bid @ Targatues17

Good afternoon, with less then 24 hours to go, I’m going use this platform to talk about a great charity event in South Florida on 4/20, next Saturday. Sorry PCAR if this isn’t proper etiquette but it’s important. I’m not affiliated with this charity but I’m taking my 992 Targa there next Saturday and if anyone in the South Florida area is free with a special car please join me. It’s at Homestead Racetrack and it’s called Ride2Revive. They rent out the track for the day and let us on to drive kids struggling with serious medical conditions, obv not at high speeds, around the oval, this is a NASCAR track FYI. Anyway with 9 days to go they still need drivers, it’s a $500 donation and you go with your car and have a very special impact on a kids day and life! Check it out and let me know if anyone can attend. This is so much more important then talking about my car, I can’t explain how excited I am for this event!!!

Thank you all for the interest up to this point. I’m around the next 2 days to answer any questions I can. Again the car is at PCAR headquarters in Oyster Bay, NY. If you have interest and are local please arrange to go see her in person. Also, please check out the updated gallery showing the stamps in the service manual that go back to 1987 when she was born as well as pics showing the floorboards as requested.

@Kk1340 Thank you for your interest in my Targa. I will ask PCAR to provide a close up picture as they have possession of the car. I’m not going to remove the glue, it never bothered me and I feel along with the patina on the targa bar it adds to the vintage feel of this driver.

  • Briandl (seller) 3 weeksago

@eggsandwich This is the best question yet…Pearl Jam Ten, and no it’s not included sorry. When I upgraded the speakers last spring (invoice uploaded) I also wanted to upgrade the stereo but refused to lose the cassette deck so I kept it. Thanks for the comment and the sharp eye picking up the cassette in the deck, the case is in the center console. 😀

Please clarify which tape cassettes you are providing with the sale of the car. My bid will vary depending on your answer!!

Seriously, love that authentic period touch! I’d keep a pencil in the glovebox for the passenger to rewind the tapes on long journeys!!!

    Yes, showing my age.

    Beautiful car!

Good afternoon and thank you all once again for your interest in my Targa. The car has just arrived at PCAR headquarters and it has been confirmed that the substance on the door sill is glue, I was actually told this when I bought the car 2 years ago from Tim Holt in PA and completely forgot to be honest. As for the rear left quarter it’s chipped paint that was touched up. PCAR is taking a close up pic of this and posting. I apologize for the delay with this as I’m out of town and was waiting for my very good friend to bring the car to PCAR, thank you Jeff! I do not have leak down and compression numbers sorry, the car has run great for me the pst 2 years with minimal oil on my garage floor. Please keep the questions coming, I will do my best to reply promptly.

  • Kk1340 (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 2 daysago

i am also wondering about the rust on the passenger door sill. any compression and leak down numbers available. thanks

  • Speedj1 (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 2 daysago

Many folks here have concerns about possible rust or corrosion; could the seller please chime in to confirm what we may or may not be seeing in the photos as it’s hard to tell.

Also, photos with carpet peeled back revealing the condition of the floorboards would be appreciated. It’s such a great looking Targa.

  • mikecib 3 weeks, 2 daysago

Briandl regarding corrosion, the paint definitely appears to be cracking near the bumper/tail light on left rear quarter panel photo. Is that the case?

  • nvrnrcdnbdy (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 2 daysago

@Briandl Got it. Thanks. Regarding the corrosion, looks like I had the photo numbers wrong or they changed. Can you clarify what's pictured in photos 99, 101, 106, 107, 108 on the passenger door well/runner? Thanks.

  • Briandl (seller) 3 weeks, 2 daysago

@nvrnrcdnbdy Hi and thanks for your continued interest in my Targa. The AC was converted and it works well and blows cold but to be honest I don’t use it much bc I’m predominately driving the car with the top off.

  • nvrnrcdnbdy (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

@Briandl One more question, how's the AC? Based on the records it looks like it was updated to R134a a few years ago. Is that correct?

  • nvrnrcdnbdy (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

    @PCARMARKET_MODERATOR Thanks!

  • PCARMARKET_MODERATOR 3 weeks, 3 daysago

@nvrnrcdnbdy Service records have been added to the listing gallery.

  • nvrnrcdnbdy (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

Hi. Thanks for the response but I don't see the service records. Are you still uploading those? I'm just looking to see what was done in the mentioned major service. As for the corrosion, can you clarify what's pictured in photos 78, 78, and 80 on the passenger door well/runner? Thanks.

  • Briandl (seller) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

Good morning and thank you for checking out my Targa. This is the 2nd Porsche and Targa for that matter that I’m selling on PCAR Market. I purchased this car in March 2022 and have enjoyed driving her for the past 2 years. I’m selling her because I have a newer Targa that I’m using more and I’m out of garage space. Anyway, this is a beautiful car and the color is spectacular. I’m having her moved to PCAR headquarters in Oyster Bay, NY later today as I’m out of town and they will be able to assist with showings. All lights, switches and gauges are working, the driving video was filmed last week, and she ran beautifully. Immediately after purchasing I took her to Werks1 in Sea Cliff, NY for a full service. For those of you not familiar Werks1 is a very well regarded air cooled shop on Long Island. I’m going to be uploading all service records that I have in my possession. The service manual also has been stamped showing multiple services from back in the day. The Targa top was restored in 2014 with Dan Petchel in NJ, invoice will be uploaded. Over 95% of my driving was with the top off and she was always garaged during my ownership, but I never saw a leak during washing. The Targa bar has some patina to it, never bothered me so I didn’t paint. I’m not aware of any corrosion/rust on the car. Last oil change was in May 2023, invoice will be uploaded today. I do not have any compression and leak down numbers, sorry. I bought the car as is with the service records shown and have throughly enjoyed the limited miles I have put on her. I apologize for the delay in getting this intro out, I’ve been traveling all weekend and will be checking at least once a day going forward. Thank you again for your interest in my Targa.

  • ikieo (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 5 daysago

Hi, nice car. Is there corrosion near the left side rear light as shown in the picture 69? Other areas of corrosion? It appears that the targa roll bar cover could use a repaint? Last oil change and brake and clutch fluid change?
    thanks
    Ken

  • Kk1340 (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 5 daysago

Lovely Targa! Is there some discoloration in the leather on the drivers seat, maybe rear too - or maybe the lighting?

Are you planning on uploading service records?
