DT: 1987 Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe

Up for auction is this exemplary 1987 Porsche 930 Turbo presented in black over a specially ordered Champagne leather interior.  Having undergone over $15k worth of documented service over the past few years, this 1987 example is said to remain in impeccable, highly original condition with all tags and stickers still in place.  Highlighting factory options including a power operated sunroof and iconic Fuchs wheels, this Turbo shows approximately 64k miles on the odometer and represents an incredible opportunity for a discerning air-cooled enthusiast.

The black finish on this 930 is shown to remain in great condition with some mild signs of age-appropriate wear (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  The seller indicates that an extensive professional detail was recently carried out at a cost of approximately $2k.  Noteworthy features include seductive wide fenders, a distinctive “tea tray” rear spoiler and factory Fuchs wheels in black.

The specially ordered Champagne leather upholstered cabin is said to be in excellent original condition.  A couple of small holes have been left behind from an old cell phone mount which can be seen near the center console in the photo gallery.  Factory options include a black velour luggage compartment, a power operated sunroof, left-seat lumbar support, an alarm system and Blaupunkt radio.  The seller notes that some weathered body seals have been recently replaced along with the sunroof felt and confirms that all gauges, electrical components and accessories are fully functional.

This 930 carries its original air-cooled 3.3L turbocharged flat-six engine which sends 282HP to the rear wheels by way of a number’s matching 4-speed manual transmission.  A comprehensive service was carried out by Butzigear and Wheeler Auto Service in CT, two well respected Porsche specialty shops in the area.  Over $10k was spent to bring this car up to the owner’s standards which included mechanical service, A/C system maintenance, ignition system refurbishment and the installation of a new battery.  There have been no performance modifications installed on this Turbo and it is said to remain in phenomenal driving condition.

The sale of this 930 will include a set of two keys, original books and accessories, service records and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.  Do not miss out on your opportunity to add this exquisite 1987 Porsche 930 Turbo to your collection.

@Ccristo I'll do my best to respond inline to your questions below:
Great car! Brings me back some high school memories (in CT BTW)! Just a couple questions before I bid.
    1. How many owners? Tried to read Carfax, but want to confirm. One of the owners on carfax when moved and re registered from NY to Greenwich was the same owner but technically counted registration as 2nd owner. Currently according to carfax its a 4 owner car but in reality 3.

    2. Is it equipped w/ the Catalytic Converter? I’m a CA resident and need it to pass inspection
The car retains all of the original factory exhaust system and catalytic converters. It should pass any states emissions.
    3. Is it the original Turbo, has the engine been removed and taken apart, does it show any noticeable Oil leaks?
Its the original turbo, the car if parked for 2-3 weeks will leave a tiny amount smaller than a dime. About as leak free as you'll get out of a Porsche from this generation.
    4. Do the service records you mention show mileage and has it ever been in an accident?
Records do have the mileage yes. The car doesn't show any signs of an accident. Had some dings pulled out by paintless dent removal.
    5. Can you provide a PPI? Compression test results etc...
I don't have a pre purchase inspection, you can pay to have one done and I can recommend someone in the area if need be.
Thank you for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it!
    You are welcome sir.

  • TurboSupraGuy (seller) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@Carrerafan I emailed a quick walk around and driving video to them, guess they haven't had the time to post yet..

  • Carrerafan 1 month, 2 weeksago

Hi, no walk around video? thx

  • TurboSupraGuy (seller) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@sculptedmetal - Thank you sir! The paint appears mostly original and all the factory vin tags are in place. There are some normal rock chips and dings in the front as you'd expect.
Yes the cam housing leak was addressed and leak free. Passenger door card photo is my body causing a shadow in the shot, sun was behind me.

    Thank you for your questions.

Should have a couple more photos and video added here shortly.

beautiful car! Questions: 1) is paint original throughout 2) is that a stain or shadow on the passenger's side door card? 3) Was the cam housing area oil leak addressed?
    Thanks for your answers.

can you add pics of the trunk without the carpet, thanks.

  • Silver930 1 month, 3 weeksago

Yeah thats pretty funny to ask what your reserve is in a auction. LOL some times you have to wonder I guess its a left over thing from Ebay so is the snipping bidding mentality I see at Auctions. With Time endings and the reset button those days are gone.
Not sure about Wheelers Automotive in New Haven CT. Not good Porsche mechanics from what I hear in the Porsche community. Best of luck with the Auction looks like a cool and well kept 930 Coupe.

@Deanster there are two soft ding/scuffs on the original muffler yes. Happened at some point unloading car from trailer.

  • Deanster 1 month, 3 weeksago

Is that impact damage on muffler?

  • vintiquemotors 1 month, 3 weeksago

@Aeajrhas4kids Start bidding to find out. Very bad etiquette to ask that question.

  • TurboSupraGuy (seller) 1 month, 3 weeksago

@Aeajrhas4kids the reserve was set to reasonable number for such a car. Out of respect for the spirit of the auction I will not be disclosing that number. Thanks for your interest and hope to see your bid.
