Now up for auction is this 1988 Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate.  Referencing the model’s early appearance in the 1967 film starring Dustin Hoffman, this “Graduate” edition Spider was offered with the same twin-cam 2.0 L engine and drivetrain from the Quadrifoglio and Veloce models.   This 1988 example is reported to have been garage-kept and carefully maintained under the current ownership with a brand-new convertible top recently installed.  Now showing just over 73k miles on the odometer, this Spider is being offered by its seller in Georgia accompanied by a color-matched removable hardtop, a collection of documentation, and a clean title.

This Spider is believed to have undergone a relatively recent respray in its original Alfa Red color, and the seller indicates the finish to remain in good condition with only minor cosmetic imperfections (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  Exterior features include a rear decklid spoiler and a brand-new vinyl convertible top.  Pininfarina badges are also affixed on the sides laying claim to the Italian firm’s design work.  This example rides on 15” Alfa Romeo “phone dial” wheels normally seen on the Quadrifoglio model, which are currently dressed in newer Michelin tires.  A color-matched removable hardtop will also be included in the sale.

Inside, the black vinyl interior is said to be in very nice condition while remaining mostly original.  2 small cracks are reported on the dashboard and 2 aftermarket speakers have been installed on the rear deck. The A/C has been converted to R134 and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.

This Graduate is equipped with the same 2.0 L inline 4-cylinder DOHC twin-cam engine utilized in the Quadrifoglio and Veloce models.  126 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle.  Regular maintenance has been kept up to date including the recent installation of a new battery as well as a full service and inspection earlier in 2020.  Some maintenance records are included, and the seller reports this Spider to be in strong running order.

This sale will include a set of 3 keys (ignition, door lock, and glovebox), the original jack and toolkit, a removable hardtop, a binder of paperwork and records, and a clean title.  This well-maintained Alfa Romeo makes an excellent choice for any enthusiast in search of a vintage Italian sports car.

    I was caught off guard with PCAR's CarFax reporting that there was an accident in 1989. I ran the CarFax when I got the car earlier this year and there was no accident reported on it. Even more curious, if you look at it, they noted that they didn't have the information reported until 2009!? I had always trusted CarFax, but now I don't know.
    I just went out directly to the National Motor Vehicle Information System to check and they have NO record of an accident! I have examined the car very closely, and while there has been a full repaint recently, there is no indication of any repairs to the front left that I can see. If it had bumpoed into anything, it was repaired beautifully. I will do more reseach and report back. Mike

    @bradsbikes The car is in Dacula right now. I have it in my garage. I drive it to the store (2 miles) a couple times a week to keep it happy. They don't like to sit for along time. :-)

    @bradsbikes I am in Marietta.

    Is the car currently in Marietta or in Dacula?

    @mikethies It looks like I was mistaken on its history. Car Fax shows the car being in Missouri and Ohio, early in its life. Our records show that it has been in Georiga since before the year 2000.

    This is a low mileage "Southern Car" being that is has resided only in Carolina and Georgia, mostly in and around Marietta, GA where there is no salt on the roads. It is rust free as indicated in the video with a magnet text. A detailed examination showed it to have a full, intact undercoating, and no rust in the trunk, the engine bay and wheel wells!
