Available for auction is this striking 1988 Mercedes-Benz W126 560 SEL finished in Anthracite Grey Metallic over an Alpaca grey leather interior. Embodying an era of quality, durability, and engineering, the W126 S-Class has become a modern classic that is rapidly gaining favor among the enthusiast community. Notable factory options on this example include rear power reclining seats with footrests, heated front seats and premium audio system. This example is said to have been exceptionally well-preserved throughout the years. Showing 25,701 on the odometer at the time of cataloging, this 560 SEL is being offered by its seller in Nassau County, New York.
Outside, the Anthracite Grey Metallic paint is said to be entirely original, showing in great condition along with all chrome, moldings and rubber seals (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). Factory 15-hole alloy wheels are retained, beautifully reconditioned in November of 2020, wrapped in a set of Cooper Lifeliner Touring SLE tires. The exterior is noted to be free of modification and showing little to no flaws.
Inside, the Alpaca gray leather interior is shown to be in impressive condition with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional. Some noteworthy options include dual-tone horns, heated front & rear seats, power rear seats with recline, a sunroof, an original Becker “Grand Prix” radio and decorative wood veneers throughout the cabin. All interior features are noted to be functioning properly. It should be said that the air conditioning system was recently serviced, converted to R134a, and fitted with a new OEM compressor and dryer.
This luxury sedan is powered by a 5.6 L type-M117 V8 engine mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Approximately 238 HP and 287 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels providing for effortless cruising. Notable and recent service items include a new battery, a replacement rear section of the muffler, and oil pan and transmission fluid pan gasket replacements in late 2019. More recently, in March of 2021, a full tune up was performed highlighting spark plugs, distributor rotor cap, timing adjustment, replacement control valve and idle control valve, driveshaft bearing and a top up of levels. This 560 SEL is noted to be in excellent running order.

Thank you for viewing my auction. I acquired her in September 2019 from a close friend of mine. The car was purchased by his father in law. It has been started and ran regularly. The paint is original throughout. There is a small bubble on the left fender ( size of a dime) that I will leave to the next caretaker to decide. Overall the vehicle is in excellent condition, whoever wins the auction will be extremely pleased. The rear seats in this car are heated as the front and they recline with the door mounted switch. This car is built like a bank vault, you can feel the quality of craftsmanship when you close the doors. I recently acquired another vehicle and I don't have the garage space for it anymore.It's time to let someone else be the next caretaker. Feel free to ask me any questions, I will do my best to answer them.
