Up for auction is this well-sorted 2-owner 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet.  Featuring a desirable color combination, freshly rebuilt G50 transmission, and extensive service records, this Carrera Cabriolet is a stand-out among other examples.  Remaining on the west coast its entire life, this Carrera was sold new in California before eventually making its way to sunny Arizona where it is being offered in excellent condition with 73k miles showing on the odometer.

The Grand Prix White paint on this Carrera is said to be in excellent garage-kept condition.  The seller emphasizes that a brand-new black cabriolet top has been installed bringing the exterior of this vehicle to a showroom-look.  This Carrera highlights original white-finished 16" staggered Fuchs wheels with polished lips.  These wheels are in excellent condition and come wrapped in new Bridgestone performance tires.

The beautiful tan leather interior shows to be in excellent condition as per the gallery photos.  All electronics and functions are stated to be in excellent working order including the upgraded sound system ($3k setup).  Both the air conditioning and heat have received a recent overhaul giving the next owner peace of mind.  This nicely spec’d Carrera was ordered new with the following options:

  • Climate Control
  • Cruise Control
  • Leather Interior
  • Power Windows
  • Power Mirrors
  • Blaupunkt Sound System

This Carrera retains its original 3.2L flat-six engine that is rated at approximately 207 HP.  Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a highly desirable G50 5-speed transmission that has recently been completely rebuilt.  The seller notes that every service was completed on time during this cars life with records to back it up.  A few noteworthy services performed on this 911 include:  a new clutch, filter and fluid change, all new bushings, and a rebuilt transmission.  The car is in excellent running condition.

The sale will include extensive service records, a clean Carfax report, Autocheck report, two keys, car cover, spare tire, tools, air compressor, and books.

@canyonclassics Great thank you for the additional meter info and pics.

@Shiver11 I just metered the car and the complete front end paint and cowl is all original and meters within range. The passenger rear quarter and deck lid are also original which rules out any front or rear accident damage. Both doors have been painted and they blended into driver rear quarter when doing repair. I did not get any meter readings higher than 7.0 around the car (3.9 to 5.0 is factory paint) which to me indicates no major body work, most likely just repairing parking lot damage or someone swinging the doors into things at a few times in the past. I have sent a bunch of photos to Pcar for upload.

@canyonclassics Any known paint work or service records identifying a respect? From several pictures it looks like there is a noticeable tone/color difference between the front fenders and doors which would indicate a nose job at some point.

@Jhacking33 will take those tomorrow and send over for update. Top is 10-10 FLAWLESS brand new with perfect clear rear window. Underside is perfect, no leaks, no rust as nice as you would expect a CA and AZ car to be. Bid With Confidence!

Beautiful car and I agree on the color combo; I had the same on an ‘09 Turbo. Do you have any photos with the top up and also of the undercarriage? Thanks!

@BlueTTop yes it's a fantastic color combo. I don't think there is any color combo more classic and luxurious.

  • BlueTTop 4 years, 3 monthsago

Thanks for the quick response! The color matched wheels look great.

  • canyonclassics (seller) 4 years, 3 monthsago

@BlueTTop it appears you are correct. Code 348 would indicate they were white from factory. I don't see that notated. They were done at a factory quality standard because they don't show a harsh tape line or paint irregularities.

  • BlueTTop 4 years, 3 monthsago

Were the wheels painted at the factory? The option code sticker does not reflect so.
