For the 1987 model year, the Porsche 944 S was introduced featuring an improved engine with dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder as well as larger anti-roll bars, progressive springs, and reinforced wheel bearings. This 1988 example comes finished in Black and is equipped with a 5-speed manual transaxle sending power to the rear wheels. It was acquired by the seller in December 2022 from its second owner of over 20 years and benefits from a major recent service including a new battery, timing belt, and water pump. This 944 S is now being offered for auction out of New York with approximately 43k miles on the odometer.
This 944 S is finished in Black and is distinguishable as an “S” model by its body-colored side moldings featuring “16 Ventiler” (‘16 Valve’) script on the front fenders. Equipment includes integrated front fog lights, pop-up headlights, a removable electric tilt sunroof, a glass hatch with a rear window wiper, a black polyurethane rear spoiler, and a Dansk muffler with a polished exhaust tip. The car rides on 17” 996 Twist wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps and Sumitomo tires (2014). The original 15” phone dial alloy wheels are said to be included as well. The seller states that the paint is all original and notes some small scratches on the lower front valence as well as a small dent on the driver’s side door. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in black vinyl and leather upholstery with matching carpets, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel. Other equipment includes power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, a digital clock, and a sound system with an original Blaupunkt radio. The interior is described to be in excellent condition with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional.
The 944 S features a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline-four DOHC engine with four valves per cylinder, a magnesium valve cover, dual knock sensors, and a 10.9:1 compression ratio cylinder head. Up to 190 HP and 170 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller states a service was completed within the last 200 miles including a new battery, timing belt, and water pump as well as changes of the oil, coolant, brake fluid, and clutch fluid.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, a car cover, some documentation, and a clean title.

@ 211Broadway your comment was removed because there is no asking price.There should be no discussion on price with the seller. We have an agreed contractual reserve, and the car is in position to sell through the auction. If you have a price in mind, bid accordingly, you may lose the car if you don’t.

The issues have been address. As stated in my previous comments. The wipers work intermittently. The power seat works in the up but slow in the down. The digital clock does not work.

The wipers work intermittently as the car was probably never driven in the rain. The motor may need a service. The driver power seat works in the up position, but is slow in the down. Power mirrors, windows, locks and sunroof are all fully functional.

To all bidders, I personnaly inspected this car. I encourage you to wait for seller's response to my question below. Perhaps the issues I saw have been repaired, but will be nice to have a confirmation from the seller.
It is a great car which needs some work, in my opinion. Perhaps all the issues I saw have been fixed/repaired. If all repairs have been performed, I see no reason why this car will reach a nice market value upon sale.
