DT: 1990 Nissan Z32 300ZX Twin Turbo 5-Speed

Now available for auction is this 1990 Nissan Z32 300ZX Twin Turbo finished in Glacier Pearl Metallic Tricoat over a charcoal grey interior. Featuring a 300 HP twin-turbocharged V6 engine, an adjustable suspension, and a four-wheel steering system, the 300ZX Twin Turbo showcased Nissan’s most advanced technology of the time and would go on to become one of the best-selling sports cars of the 1990s.  Fitted with some tasteful performance upgrades and treated to a recent timing belt and water pump replacement , this 1990 example is now being offered for auction by its seller our of Florida while showing just over 60k miles on the odometer.

The Glacier Pearl Metallic (KH6) finish is described to be all original and with only a few minor touched-up imperfections.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.  The Z32 features front and rear spoilers and a T-top roof with removable glass panels. Visually distinguishing the Twin Turbo from the standard 300ZX are horizontal slits in the front valence to feed the intercoolers as well as specialized badging in the rear.  The factory 16” wheels have been retained and are currently dressed in Toyo Proxes tires showing date codes from 2018.

Inside, this Z32 features a charcoal grey interior with power-adjustable seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows, and a Bose sound system. A leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 160-MPH speedometer, a 9k-RPM tachometer, and gauges for boost pressure, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level.  The bucket seats have been recently reupholstered, and the seller reports all accessories to be working properly including the rear window wiper, electric antenna, and A/C which has been fitted with a new condenser, expansion valve, and converted to R134a.

This 300ZX is powered by a 3.0L twin-turbocharged DOHC V6 engine rated at 300HP and 283 lb.-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential.  All Twin-Turbo models come standard with a HICAS (High Capacity Actively Controlled Suspension) four-wheel steering system, 4-piston brake calipers, larger 11” brake rotors, and an adjustable suspension with Sport and Touring modes.  This example has also been upgraded with a stainless-steel cat-back exhaust system and a Stillen ECU performance chip.  The timing belt and water pump were replaced in 2018 at 58k miles and a collection of maintenance records is provided in the photo gallery showing service to have been carried out over the last several years including routine oil changes, new fuel injectors, shifter bushings, a clutch slave cylinder, and more.

This sale will include a collection of records, a service manual, and a clean title.  One of the most iconic Japanese sports cars of the 1990s, this Z32 300ZX Twin Turbo has become a true modern classic, do not let this opportunity pass you by.

@rhmoritz Sorry forgot to respond to you regarding the Airbag.
As far as I know the Air Bag in this model car started an only as an optional in the 1991 series, not before. As a result there is no factory Air Bag in this series car.
    Thanks

@rhmoritz Good morning! Undercarriage pictures already posted.
Honestly I never cared about the center steering wheel emblem. I believe that here in Florida I might find an excellent used one or even a new one. I don't believe it is a problem.
Thanks for your interest. I will be around just in case there is any other questions/request.

I have a '91 model of basically the same car. The pearl paint is stunning in person. One of those that people over look until they get close enough to notice the pearl detail and then they absolutely love it . Mine has 180,000 miles on it since it's my daily driver all summer long. When those turbos kick in it is the most fun car I've ever owned. With proper maintenance it should last forever.

Noted that the steering wheel emblem is missing. Unfortunately the part is discontinued and no longer available from Nissan. Is the steering wheel an airbag equipped model? Any undercarriage pictures available?

  • Principe (seller) 3 weeks, 6 daysago

@rhmoritz Just to correct my response Two injectors I believe were replaced but it was not the solution to the problem. Replacing the OX Sensors was the correct fix.

  • Principe (seller) 3 weeks, 6 daysago

@rhmoritz Thansk for your interes. Yes the Turbos are the originals to the car and they respond as they should, The HICAS IS in good working condition. Everything is...
It is good to mention that this car have being owned for over twenty years and specially kept, serviced, pampered and etc, from a well known and longtime NISSAN Dealership Owner. It wasn't, of course bis daily driver. In any case he enjoyed and took care of it as one of his precious toys. All records are on file and posted I believe. As far as I remember , last year two of them have being replaced. In any case the issue was solved by replacing the OX Sensor and one other sensor. I found that the car was not properly idling and when started I
    used to smell gasoline. Tks

That is a really beautiful example and I just took time to share it with my network. GLWTA!

  • rhmoritz (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 6 daysago

Stunning example! Having previously owned and maintained a 91 TT, I have a few questions.
Do the turbos (original?) spool up and provide full power on demand? Is the HICAS fully engaged and operational? Have the fuel injectors been replaced/upgraded? Do the rear speakers work? Thanks.

I drove many of these back in the 90's when I worked for a Nissan dealer. Absolutely brilliant cars. Underrated in today's market. This looks like a fantastic example in a stellar color. Will be watching with great interest.

    Hi everybody.
I hope that you like this, to me, beautiful very quality Sport car. To me it's a very unique piece that called my attention from day one. This model together with his contemporaneous; Toyota Supra and Mitsubishi VR4 Twin Turbo also made history in the Sport Automotive Industry. They, (Japanese Automotive Industry), clearly showed, one more time, their capacity, ability and high end technology in order to produce and compete in the highest level, with all the other makes of Sport High end cars around the World.
On top of that and after owning quite a few European Sports Cars that I had and even that my Background is Italian and I am a fan and owner of a "Cavallino", I have to say that this an many other Japanese products, are way much more reliable, durable and better engineered and more sophisticated products that the ones that are more famous and definitively more expensive and also, famous for demanding very high and more than often, services and maintenance.
Even that they are no longer cheap as they use to, they still are very affordable and most important, they provide you with the ability of servicing as a daily driver if you want to. That's something to keep in mind. You can still drive them every day!!
No only to have one, but to enjoy it whenever you want and or at your desire.
    Think about it.
Thanks for your time and I hope that you Fellows stay safe and sound. But most important....Bidding on my cars!!!....
    The very best,
    Principe
