The updated 944 S2 model was introduced in 1989, adding a new convertible top version to the model range and featuring a new 3.0-liter inline-four engine, revised suspension, and Turbo-style bodywork. This 1990 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet is one of only 2,402 examples sold in North America over a three-year production run. It comes finished in Black over a Linen leather interior and is equipped with a 5-speed manual transaxle. It was purchased by the seller several years ago and has been fitted with a replacement cabriolet top, new leather seats, and new custom-made carpeting. Showing approximately 47k miles on the odometer, this 944 S2 is now being offered for auction out of New Hampshire.
This 944 S2 is finished in Black with a replacement tan German canvas soft top installed under current ownership. Equipment includes pop-up headlamps, integrated fog lights, body side moldings, a body-colored rear diffuser, and chrome 16” Design 90 wheels. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing damage to the right side in 1993.
The Linen interior has been refurbished with new leather front seats and custom-made black carpeting. Accessories include a four-spoke black leather steering wheel, power windows and mirrors, automatic climate control, a digital clock, a Blaupunkt equalizer stereo, a 10-speaker sound system, and a Bluetooth audio module. The seller notes the rear speakers have been replaced and the original Linen carpeting is included in the sale.
Power comes from a 3.0-liter inline-four 16-valve DOHC engine. A 5-speed manual transaxle delivers up to 208 HP and 207 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels. Standard equipment includes independent suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars, power steering, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes with ABS. The seller indicates the timing belt was replaced at 37k miles.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a tire inflator, a car cover, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Southern car, no rust, never driven in snow, new German convertible rag top, electric top operates as it should. Driven less than 1000 miles each summer since I have owned it. I drove it from Alabama through the Blue Ridge Mountains to New Hampshire, drove beautifully, no issues the entire trip!”

@b.flippo ,
Yes, it was. Thank you for being nice. I appreciate it.
***The comment on the IMS could also be a glitch in Pcar's site and the comment was meant for another listing. Recently, somehow, one of my comments ended up on a completely different auction than the one I was watching.
The 944 doesn't have an intermediate shaft because it doesn't have a flat six engine. So since there's no IMS, by default there's no IMS bearing to fail. The 944 has a very traditional multivalve 4-cyl engine similar to other 4-cyls produced by other manufacturers of the time, so asking about the IMS bearing is either an intentional joke or incredibly ignorant. Here's to hoping it was a joke...
@b.flippo I am familiar with IMS bearing issues with Boxsters… never heard or read about S2s with IMS issues…have you?
IMS? Please, say you're joking.
@S1lv3rF0x IMS?
How about the IMS?

@ghnissan You certainly are entitled to your opinion. "This car is factually and transparently represented." ?
In the section labeled " The seller would like you to know: ..." Seller states that "...never driven in snow, ... Driven less than 1000 miles each summer ...""I drove it from Alabama through the Blue Ridge Mountains to New Hampshire..." The distance from the northern most part of Alabama to the sellers address in NH is a minimum of 1200 miles, and that's assuming it was a one way trip and parked until the next summer. So factually and transparently? Perhaps. Honestly? That'would be a stretch.
Bid in the amount of $3,500
I agree with the seller. This car is factually and transparently represented.
Good luck today.
@RobertLHX Are you a seller or just a jerk, criticizing commetors for making legitimate observational comments? If what I stated wasn't true, I could see your point, but it was factual. To answer your question though, if I were going to be a bidder, I am not anymore. Anyone thinking of buying from a seller with an attitude like yours towards potential customers would be well served to rethink the idea.
Bid in the amount of $3,100
@TheVintageCarGuy - have to agree with the seller on this one. People who are bidding can see the quality of the vehicle themselves.
@TheVintageCarGuy Are you a bidder or just a jerk, criticizing cars for grins ?
Bid in the amount of $2,250
This one should go relatively cheap. To say the paint is a little rough would be an understatement. Glwta

@ride786 check out undercarriage photos, just loaded.

@ride786 North Hollywood Speedometer checked all gauges and replaced bulbs in the instrument cluster.
@ride786 I don't have a lift, I will try to see if a local garage will put it on a lift tomorrow. Pictures of the undercarriage with an iphone is impossible...I did send the instrument cluster to be refurbished at a place in LA, to clean, fix lighting display and just general restoration. I can't remember the place that did it....I'll see what I can find for information (it was a while ago).
Good morning it’s possible can you put some under body pictures
I had a couple of those my question is speedo meter ever been fixed or replaced .I believe those cars have issue with them after a certain age they get broken is there any leak underneath the engine Please let me know thank you
There is no evidence of any damage to the right side, as you can see in the pictures. Whatever minor damage occured it was repaired long before I boaught the car. Everything looks and operates as it should.
@PorschePhil It was a minor fender bender that occurred when previous owner had the car. I didn’t know it existed until I saw carfax…
