DT: 1991 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Targa 5-Speed

Up for auction is this stunning 1991 964 Carrera 2 Targa presented in white over a beautiful black leather interior.  Standing as one of only 746 Targa variants produced for the model year, this example is exceptionally rare and desirable.  Having recently undergone a comprehensive service and inspection by a specialized Porsche technician, this 964 Targa is now being offered for auction showing approximately 69k miles on the odometer by its seller in New York.

The factory white finish on this Carrera is stated by the seller to be in excellent all-original condition. There are a few areas of road wear noted by the seller including a minor scratch on the front fender as well as  some touch up paint located on the rear bumper.  Images detailing the condition of the paint will be provided in the photo gallery along with recent paint-depth meter readings.  Exterior features include a distinctive wraparound rear window, a removable black Targa top, and original 17” 5-spoke Cup wheels which are currently mounted with Bridgestone tires.

This Targa is appointed with a gorgeous black leather interior complimented by decorative twin-stitching and black seat piping.  The seller has noted the interior to be in exemplary overall condition displaying minimal signs of wear or aging.  Factory options include power-operated front bucket seats as well as a Blaupunkt radio.  The seller indicates that this car remains entirely unmodified with all electrical components, gauges and accessories fully functional at this time.

This 964 is equipped with an an air-cooled 3.6L (M64) flat-six engine rated at approximately 250 HP and 228 ft/lb of torque.  Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a crisp G50 5-speed manual transmission making for a 0-60 time of approximately 5.5 seconds while reaching a top speed of 162mph.  A full service was recently carried out by a Porsche specialist including fluid changes, valve covers/bolts replaced, filters changed, belt sensor replaced, and drive belt replaced.  The seller reports that the engine fires up, runs and drives exceptionally well.

The sale of this well-presented Targa will include original books and documentation, two sets of keys, tools, service records and a clean Carfax report.  Offered with a clean bill of health as well as a clear New York title, this 964 is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.  Do not miss this rare opportunity to own a special 964 Carrera 2 Targa.

Any interest in a trade for a 2011 Boxster Spyder with 21k miles? Car is still under CPO, white ext/ blk int. w/ LWBs, PDK, AC, Sports exhaust etc. Excellent condition with services up to date.
I would require an extensive ppi on 964 and would travel to see your car in person. PLMK

I dont care about the head gasket issues. I am aware of the history of early 964 engines. But do we know this is the cars original engine? Thanks

@joebatters we have not had a ppi done on the vehicle. The car runs great. If you would like to send someone to look at it please let us know.

  • carsinc 1 monthago

According to the date of manufacture this car would not have had head gaskets. The changeover was in March of 91. With the engine serial number, we can be a 100% sure. That being said this is still a very nice car.

Has a ppi been done recently?
    Leakdown and compression test?
If not, any chance that one could be done before auction is over?

  • ryangfriedman (seller) 1 monthago

@carsinc all the pics requested were sent into Pcar - they will be posted shortly.

  • carsinc 1 monthago

Please show a pic of door jam vin # and production month. Also a pic of engine #.

Could I please see some close-ups of Targa top front and rear with top on the car. Thanks

Seller—is this a later car with head gaskets?
