Available for auction is this 1991 Porsche 944 S2 finished Alpine White over a Classic Grey interior. This 1991 S2 is reported to be one of only 510 U.S. market coupes to have been produced for the 944’s final year of production.  It was purchased by the seller from its original owner about three years ago, who had kept the car garaged and covered from new while carrying out all routine service through a local Porsche dealership.  Since acquiring the car, the seller has replaced various mechanical components and installed some tasteful upgrades including Porsche M474 Koni Sport shocks and springs, a Club Sport steering wheel and center console delete, and 17” Cup 2 wheels.   It is now being offered for auction by its second owner out of New Jersey while showing just over 68k miles on the odometer.

This 944 S2 is finished in Alpine White and shares its body styling with the Turbo model including an aerodynamically revised front fascia, rear valence, and spoiler.  The car has been garage kept throughout its life and the front hood is believed to have been previously refinished for cosmetic purposes, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This example rides on a set of upgraded 17” Cup 2 wheels with colored Porsche center crests, and the original set of Design 90 wheels will also accompany the sale.

Inside, this 944 features a well-preserved Classic Grey partial leather interior with an upgraded OEM Club Sport steering wheel and center console delete.  A new OEM shift knob and boot have also been installed and the original steering wheel, airbag, and floormats are said to accompany the sale as well.  The car retains its factory Blaupunkt "Reno" radio and all gauges and accessories are reported to be fully functional except for the remote rear hatch opener.  The rear hatch remains manually operable and a new remote switch will be provided to the next owner.

Power comes from a 3.0 L inline 4-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle that sends as much as 208 HP and 207 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels.  The current owner has installed an upgraded Dansk sport muffler and OEM Porsche M474 Koni Sport shocks and springs.  The original owner reportedly carried out all routine service through a local Porsche dealer including the last timing belt replacement in May of 2018. Service records are said to accompany the sale dating back to the original purchase. Some of the more noteworthy recent items addressed by the current owner include timing belt re-tensioning in 2019, a brake fluid flush, and a new battery that has been installed within the last month.

The sale of this S2 will include the original spare tire, toolkit, and a clean title. With its tasteful upgrades and well-documented history, this final model year 944 S2 is just waiting to be enjoyed by a new caretaker.

@rhmoritz Thank you. It looks like this car was previously listed on BAT and noted repainting.

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1991-porsche-944-s2-3/

The seller notes that the front end of the vehicle was partially repainted in 2001 after being damaged by a falling tree branch. A ding on the passenger-side rocker panel is shown in the gallery below, as is a scratch under the emblem on the rear hatch that was touched up prior to the seller taking delivery of the vehicle in 1991. The seller reports that the car was never driven in the winter, and also that it was garage stored and washed by hand.

Gentlemen, thank you for your questions and concerns. The S2 has a resilient, dent resistant polymer "soft" nose section. The body and paint are in the same condition as when I took delivery from the original owner three years ago. I am unaware of any front end or fender damage/repair. As always, I welcome a reputable third party inspection or PPI prior to auction closing.

@tlippold that’s why I was asking as well.

  • tlippold 2 years, 11 monthsago

The driver bumper cover lines and fender/hood lines do not look quite right. The driver headlight also looks to be up slightly. Any previous damage to the front end or driver fender?

  • rhmoritz (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@Dj The front bumper has not been refinished or repaired.

  • Dj 2 years, 11 monthsago

Hi seller, was the front bumper redone?

@rhmoritz This car was Purchase at my local Porsche dealer in Barrington they have great tech's working there I would love to bring this car back home to IL I have wanted one for a daily driver for a while. The fact that it came originally from this dealer is a plus.

  • rhmoritz (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@rnau68 I will upload requested photos of the original steering wheel and D90 rims today.
Unfortunately the original owner did not retain the window sticker. However, I do have the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, which I will add to the photo bucket as further documentation. The option sticker (pic#53) denotes the following codes:
    454 - cruise control
    573 - A/C
    650 - Removable sun roof
946 - Partial Leather front seat covers

  • rhmoritz (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@pheasantrun Yes, the A/C works great and quickly cools the cabin. Thanks for the positive comment.

  • RNAU68 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Please provide pictures of the original steering wheel and the original set of Design 90 wheels and the Morony window sticker showing options

  • PheasantRun (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago
