Built as a tribute to the legendary Carrera RSR race cars of the mid-1970s, this 1991 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Coupe features a full DP-Motorsport RSR Body Kit finished in Speedway Green over a fully customized black leather and Alcantara interior. Constructed by the experts at Perfect Power in Illinois with special attention to lightweight materials, this race-focused backdated 911 was further enhanced with a 997 GT3 4.0 crankshaft, a Chrome-Moly rollbar, Ohlins coilovers, RUF anti-rollbars, Kevlar brake lines, and much more. Winner of "Best Air-Cooled Porsche" at Amelia Island's Festival of Speed in 2019, this outstanding RSR-style backdate is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Illinois after being driven approximately 750 miles since the build.

The bodywork has been customized with a full DP-Motorsport 2.8 RSR Body Kit composed of a carbon-Kevlar mixture and refinished in the rare shade of Speedway Green, also known as Ascot (Shamrock) Green (258). Details include RSR-style lettering, hood straps, black-finished horn grilles, lightweight door handles, custom aero mirrors, pop-out quarter windows, a prominent fresh air induction integrated into the engine lid, and a black-finished dual-exit muffler. A set of custom 15” forged wheels come dressed in Avon Racing tires with hand-cut tread. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin presents fully customized black leather and Alcantara upholstery, contrasted with green stitching throughout. Completed with a special focus on lightweight materials, numerous aluminum panels are fitted along with Cobra Misano Lux seats covered in leather and Alcantara with green stitching with carbon fiber backrest shells. The shifter, pedals, custom mechanical window mechanisms, grab handles, and leather-covered floor mats are also made from aluminum. Alcantara covers the headliner as well as the MOMO Prototipo steering wheel which frames 911S-style gauges with stainless steel bezels. Additionally, a leather-wrapped chromoly integrated rollbar is equipped.

The naturally aspirated flat-six engine received a 997 GT3 4.0 crankshaft with lightened components, cross-drilled and stroked to 82.4 mm for a 4,095cc displacement. Power is sent to the rear wheels through the reportedly original 5-speed G50 manual transmission. A new GT3 oil pump and intermediate shaft with straight-cut gears have been fitted along with Pauter connecting rods, Mahle racing forged pistons and cylinders, Xtreme heads, and Elgin cams with 9m rocker arms. The equipment also includes a Motec M130 predictive ECU, knock sensors, Jenvey throttle, a custom air intake, RSR-style Rennline camber plates, and a carbon fiber fan shroud. The suspension consists of Ohlins TT 36 coilovers and RUF anti-roll bars while stopping power is provided by slotted, ventilated, and cryogenically treated rotors with new brake calipers and Kevlar brake lines. The seller adds that there are no outstanding maintenance items.

This sale will include a clean title.

    The owner / builder of this car is a class act, and real enthusiast. I bought a car from him years back, and he was great to deal with. I hope this car makes it out west to Rennsport reunion later this year!

    I’m building a 964 right now that has a fraction of what this car has and the cost is already north of 280k. I’ve also driven this car and as the previous owner of a turbo 3.6 , 991 GT3 and current owner of a 997 cup I can tell you that this car is fast, incredibly nimble and balanced and an absolute thrill to drive.

    @s14kev Actually, it doesn’t funnel water into the engine. There is a filter built into the deck lid that could be changed from underneath. It’s also quite easy to block the opening when you’re washing the car. If you were filling the scoop opening with a hose, you would eventually saturate the air filter, and it would start dripping into the engine. Just drawing air through a K & N filter in the engine compartment costs up to 15 hp due to the high intake air temperatures on a big engine like this. So this air intake system is extremely functional. The scoop also could have been reversed, eliminating the washing/water drain issue. It still would’ve drawn cold air, but it would have been without any ram effect-and we couldn’t have that! It’s not a problem driving in the rain. As long as the air is being drawn through the filter, a little bit of rain in the intake is harmless.

    Cool decklid airbox mod! Would hate to wash this on a regular basis though. Nice funnel for soapy water.

    @burnrubr if you look closely in picture number 191 you will actually see the trophy pointing to the Guntherwerks car at Amelia island. We were parked next to it for the Festivals of Speed show and our green car took first place for all air-cooled Porsches. Yes, I would agree that our car probably is a little more visceral in that it runs lightweight Lexan windows and has minimal sound deadening material other than everything being covered in leather.

  • burnrubr (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

    a fraction of a Singer's price or Gunther's with probably more RVDE! (Real Visceral Driving Experience)

    I can't resist jumping in to talk about Sol and Perfect Power. Sol helped me find and buy my first Porsche in 1986. It was a very solid 1973 911S with 60,000 miles.

    For many years it was my daily driver and I racked up over 220,000 miles before asking Sol to personally oversee an entire mechanical and cosmetic overhaul/restoration. We chose to increase the engine from the normal 2.4 liter to 2.7 liters (MFI) but the rest of the car was restored to original specs.

    When it was done it was absolutely breathtaking and it subsequently went on to win many Concours events including "Best in Class" and also "Best Overall Porsche" in the Celebration of 60 Years of Porsche Automobiles at the Hilton Head Concours d'Elegance in 2008. Most notably, one judge submitted a letter stating "it is clearly the benchmark by which other early 911s are measured."

    I'm mentioning all this as a testament to Sol's and Perfect Power's incredible attention to detail and immense technical capabilities. I have personally inspected his Green Beauty many times and without exception I am always left speechless. The build quality and specs rival anything any other builder is turning out. You really need to see it in person to fully appreciate it.

    Anyway, I'm be holding my bag of popcorn and cheering on all the bidders over the next few days!

  • Perfpow (seller) 10 months, 3 weeksago

    @gruppe993 Sorry. No protective film and thanks for the bid!

  • Perfpow (seller) 10 months, 3 weeksago

    @gruppe993 No, this car has no heat or a/c. That’s why we did pop out rear windows! This car was all about saving weight. Electric air conditioning and heater boxes can be added, but we were trying for low weight. There is no rust on the car. In fact, the underside of the car is all original. The floor of the trunk was prepped and painted, but was not sanded and smoothed.

    Few questions;

    Does the car have air conditioning and heat?

    Any paint protection film?

    Lastly, image 122 on the bottom right of the photo, is that rust bubbling under the paint?

  • burnrubr (registered bidder) 10 months, 3 weeksago

    @Perfpow amazing build! good luck!

  • Perfpow (seller) 10 months, 3 weeksago

    @burnrubr Because of the higher redline I originally was going to shorten up the gears, but they ended up quite good, and I cut the red line from 7800 to about 7500 rpm.

  • burnrubr (registered bidder) 10 months, 3 weeksago

    @Perfpow my 92 Carrera Cup weighs around 2700 lb with a measly 270 crank hp and she scoots and yours has over 300 whp and say lighter by almost 400 lb! Does the G50 short geared?

  • Perfpow (seller) 10 months, 3 weeksago

    @burnrubr I am going to weigh it on Monday because I can’t remember what the exact number was after the chrome-moly rollbar was installed, some of the final interior pieces were installed and fuel was filled but I believe it’s still under 2300 pounds. That gives it a power to weight ratio that’s slightly better than a new GT3.

  • burnrubr (registered bidder) 10 months, 3 weeksago

    Perfect Power started hot rodding and racing 911s in 1981. This Speedway Green 964 represents our take on a modern air-cooled version off the 2.8 RSR that can be driven on the road or the track. The centerpiece, as on all Perfect Power builds, is the engine. This one is built on a brand new 964 crankcase from Porsche along with a brand new and reworked, 4 liter crankshaft, GT3 oil pump, Pauter rods and straight-cut intermediate shaft gears. The interior is designed to be attractive with high-quality materials yet super lightweight. Lexan windows with custom window mechanisms, lightweight body panels in carbon fiber and Kevlar, with lightweight 15 inch wheels are all part of the 2.8 RSR theme. Mechanically no expense was spared.
    Please ask any questions you might have. It’s really important to us that this car is understood by the market. This car is a joy to drive. Reliable, docile and fast.
