Up for auction is this 1992 Mercedes-Benz R129 300SL-24 finished in Smoke Silver Metallic over a Champagne leather interior. Among the most admired generations of Mercedes’ iconic SL-Class roadsters, the R129 is renowned for its supple ride and impressive build quality. This 1992 300SL-24 is equipped with a type M104 24-valve DOHC inline-six engine which sends power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission. This SL is said to have remained under the care of its original owner up until 2014 before it was eventually acquired by the seller in Florida earlier in 2021. Described as being highly original, this SL is now being offered for auction while showing approximately 69k miles on the odometer accompanied by the original owner’s manuals, keys, warranty booklet, and a painted hardtop.
This R129 is finished in Smoke Silver Metallic (702) with darker silver lower body cladding, a dark brown convertible soft top, and matching painted hardtop. The paint is reported to be all original and detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This SL rides on factory 16″ Gullideckel wheels that come dressed in Michelin Pilot HX tires dated from 2018.
Inside, this SL is appointed with Champagne perforated leather upholstery, matching carpets, a black dashboard, and decorative wood trim. Driver amenities include an electrically adjustable and heated seat with memory, cruise control, an electrically adjustable steering column, automatic air conditioning, a headlight cleaning system, power accessories, and a locking storage compartment. The original Becker Grand Prix 2000 radio remains in place and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
This 300SL-24 carries an M104 3.0L inline-six engine featuring dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. Compared with the outgoing 188 HP M103 SOHC engine offered for the R129, the newer 24-valve M104 offers a higher output of 217 HP. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed 5G-Tronic automatic transmission, and the cooling hose for the transmission is said to have been recently replaced. The previous owner had addressed all routine maintenance through Mercedes-Benz of North Scottsdale, however, the records remain with the dealer and are not to be released per local privacy laws. There is absolutely nothing to hide nor to work on this excellent Roadster.
Please keep in mind that this version is loaded withe the Famous MB 6 Cyl-DOHC - 24 Valves engine. A bullet proof, powerful and excellent engine. Six cylinders are part of the Legendary history of Mercedes Benz.
Other than that, this power plant gives this particular Body, a perfect and better Balance that you might expect. Way much better that a V8 engine.
Providing with; Better handling, smooth suspension, better brake response, almost maintenance "free", less Gas consumption, less weight and definitely and not arguable;
A "Superb" Performance response as you might expect.

Good evening and thanks for watching this beautiful and if you allowed me to say, Very unique and hard to find well preserved, pampered and garage kept piece.
Looking at the condition is very impressive but driving it and verifying that every other electronic power components and/or remote control mechanism work like it should by the time it left factory is more tan impressive. Looks like nobody even touch the spare tire, etc.
