Now available for auction is this 1992 Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer finished in Gulf Blue over Orange Suede.  Renowned for advanced engineering, outstanding build quality, and unparalleled attention to detail, Singer has become the foremost custom Porsche restorer with a long list of clients waiting years in advance for their own allocation.  Beginning with a road-legal U.S. market 964 Carrera 2, this Singer commission was thoroughly disassembled, structurally enhanced, and transformed with custom back-dated carbon fiber bodywork. Inside, the bespoke Orange Suede custom weave interior has been masterfully crafted to the owner’s exacting specifications.  Large Brembo brakes were also fitted along with an Ohlins suspension, a close-ratio 6-speed G50/LSD transmission, and a hand-built 4.0L flat-six engine developed by Ed Pink Racing Engines in California.  Now under consignment by its original owner, this exceptionally well-executed Singer 911 is being offered for auction out of Miami, Florida, while showing just over 6k miles on the odometer.

Upon arrival at Singer’s facility, this 964 was comprehensively disassembled before the unibody was media blasted to bare metal and treated for rust prevention.  The chassis then received additional fortifications and custom fabrication in preparation for the new retro-style carbon fiber bodywork. This example has been finished in classic Gulf Blue with ghosted satin side stripes and orange Porsche lettering.  It was also optioned with a fixed carbon-fiber roof panel along with a center-fill hood, an external rear fender mounted oil filler, and body-colored rear bumperettes.  The hood and decklid hinges have been crafted from perforated aluminum while the doorframes and exterior brightwork are nickel-plated.  Modern lighting is also incorporated including state-of-the-art Hella Bi-Xenon headlights which were developed for P1 Prototype race cars.  This Singer rides on newly developed 17” forged aluminum Fuchs-style wheels sized 9”x17” up front and 11”x17” in the rear. These extremely strong and lightweight wheels have been specified with RSR-finished centers and open lug nuts.  Behind these wheels lie custom orange painted Brembo brake calipers with white Porsche lettering.  An additional set of Gulf Blue painted wheels will also accompany the sale.

Inside, you will find a painstakingly crafted Orange Suede interior with a suede-wrapped roll bar, Alabaster stitching, and custom weave inserts with deviated “Robb Report” stripes in Gulf Blue.  The deeply bolstered Recaro sport seats feature decorative brass grommets and Gulf Blue seatbelts. The body-colored interior panels are contrasted by orange square-weave carpets, suede kick panels, and black drilled floorboards.  A custom black suede-wrapped MOMO Prototipo steering wheel sits ahead of Gulf Blue instrument dials with classic off-white markings.  Mounted in the center of the dashboard is a thoroughly restored and modified Becker Mexico radio head unit which comes paired with an amplifier and high-end modern door speakers.  The front trunk compartment has also been beautifully upholstered with diamond-stitched leather.

The quilted leather-lined engine compartment houses a naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six which has been meticulously developed and hand-built by the engineers at Ed Pink Racing Engines in California.  This engine retains the case of a 964 and uses a custom crankshaft along with new pistons, cylinders, connecting rods, cams, cylinder heads, throttle bodies, and an optimized lightweight stainless-steel exhaust. The engine is paired with a MoTeC M1 series ECU operating in conjunction with dual MoTeC Power Distribution Modules and Bosch components that replace the entire fuse system.

Up to 400 HP and 315 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a custom close-ratio 6-speed G50 manual gearbox with a limited-slip differential.  An optional Ohlins suspension is equipped along with 993 Turbo-derived Brembo brakes paired with cross-drilled carbon-ceramic rotors.  The original rack and pinion steering has also been replaced with the uprated 993 design.  Each Singer 911 is thoroughly tuned and tested prior to delivery, and its onboard data logging and diagnostics abilities allow remote access for service wherever the car is located.

This sale will include an additional set of matching seats, a second set of 17” wheels painted in Gulf Blue, documentation from Singer, and a clean title.  Now is your chance to skip the waitlist and get directly behind the wheel of a 911 Reimagined by Singer.

@zzwillin Right! Seller is holding out $9k instead of taking an approx. $300K profit on a 2 year investment plus they got to put thousands of miles on it too!

  • zzwillin 2 years, 10 monthsago

I feel like the seller kinda owes pcar their 5 grand regardless of how this turns out

  • JAB12 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@Mouse19 Can't be too greedy sometimes. I am almost shocked that Pcar accepted such a high reserve. But then again it's a Singer so nothing should surprise me...

  • sthein (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@PeterPorsche - I opted to go with the Singer air cleaner system since it was the preferred setup for the torque-motor set up. The trumpets were, I was told, for the hp motor. The smog cams vs. the hp cams were also what I selected for torque but my cats were left uninstalled. As an old racer, I was after torque and not absolute hp. The variations offered for the car are huge and the new owner may wish to visit Singer and explore all that's offered.

  • PeterPorsche 2 years, 11 monthsago

@sthein This one also has the velocity stacks. Fantastic upgrade. :) Your assessment on brakes is spot on. The carbon brakes have squealing tendencies....

  • sthein (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

.........to all interested parties: every Singer is commissioned. Most are equipped with the Spinneybeck, woven leather but some are not. It is an upgrade; make it two colors, like this car, and it's additional. There are three engine options and this is the highest spec--the 4.0. The transmission is the highest spec, as are the Ohlins The roll-bar is an extra, as well. So are the seats, and that second set (!) and wheels. The only upgrade not selected are the carbon brakes. I have these and they are more than adequate (yes, on and off the track), but get the wheels dirty. There are more options not specified--seam welding or stitching, as an example. I explored opening rear quarter windows and gutter removal but was advised that the carbon-fiber connection, at some points with the factory steel, was problematic. Drew, Sin Quo Non and earlier named Cerberus, the Singer that's sort of midnight blue with gold wheels, obviously did more. The long and short: these are expnesive cars that seems to have appreciated and will, in my opinion, continue to do so. The wait is long just to begin the process, the wait during the actual build is long, as well, and donor cars are not getting less expensive and easier to find--and the requirement for the donor is that is an unhit, straight car. I suspect begining to end is 4-5 years, as stated. My thoughts are, this is a temendous car, not easily, cheaply or quickly duplicated, that is worth close to or exceeding a mil!

  • ebaptista (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@PeterPorsche I have to agree with you, perfect assessment.

  • PeterPorsche 2 years, 11 monthsago

BTW, I'd bet this one crosses $1M. These are $1.3-1.4M cars in a few years.

  • PeterPorsche 2 years, 11 monthsago

I've toyed with the idea of commissioning a Singer over the years and have talked to them several times but have regrettably balked. This commission probably cost mid $600's plus donor car. If you ordered this build today, it would be $750-800K PLUS donor car. Prices out of Singer have been climbing for quite a while. Nearly impossible to do one under $750K "all in" these days with most builds approaching $850K w/o donor car. In a few years we'll be talking about how these things used to sell for under $1M....

  • markmich (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@ebaptista Right now a good estimate is 3 1/2 to 4 years. Good estimate would be $800-825K plus the cost of the donor car

  • Craignyc (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@vvadler that’s my car in the PCARMARKET series

  • ebaptista (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@Craignyc Depending on the build slightly more than that and likely to wait close to 5 years as of Today

  • Craignyc (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@Robschumacher you would be paying mid 600s and waiting 3-4 years

  • ebaptista (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

A Few more hours left, lets get it up there so this beauty can find a new home !!!! Super excited !

  • bq11waller (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@Robschumacher Judging by how much owners of Singers love them, the incredible color and build on this car, and a 3+ year waiting list to build one... I’d say there will be a pretty hefty premium on this and rightfully so. If you want this tomorrow (and I do!!!) you’ll have to step up.
I’m sure new pricing will also greatly increase with the Williams car on the road soon and production costs rising like everything else. Either way. I hope it sells and someone gets to take home this spectacular machine.

  • Robschumacher (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Getting up there in price. What would this car cost if I commissioned it thru Singer and a 2 year wait? What am I paying for the available NOW effect --- or is it a discount?

@markmich I own an Emory. Check out this is my car episode 1. Amazing cars and Rod is great to work with.

  • sthein (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

At the risk of "overstaying my welcome," I count 6 owners and one "owner-to-be" (so far) and each shares my view--Singer turns out spectacular cars that often are the pride of collections but a car that many owners drive the most. This car, just a few years old, is typical--it was driven. It's not unusual, with other makes costing close to this, to see them just sit. Part of the ownership experience is clearly to use this car, as intended. I hope this car finds a new owner but I'm sure it will take much more to pry this loose from the current owner, who undoubtedly waited years for the car. I will encourage each owner who has written in, and other owners to contact Dave (see earlier comments), at Sun Valley Auto Club, so he can assist me in creating a database of owners. While we all value privacy, many of us are open to helping others, sharing thoughts, and helping make this a reality for others.

I also have e an Emory Outlaw on order, build should happen in 2022.

  • Gman (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@markmich Thank you! Currently I’m building an Emory Outlaw. The donor car is a 62 Twin Grill a non matching numbers car. I can’t figure out a color combo. I’m leaning towards a blue. Any suggestions?

  • markmich (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@Gman It is difficult to find a Singer that isn't outstanding. Yours is particularly nice. Love the exterior and interior color choices.

  • markmich (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@Redshift75 That is a beautiful car

  • Redshift75 2 years, 11 monthsago

Singer #20 Connecticut here .. almost 9k miles since Jan 2016. Best car overall that I have owned ..

  • Webs1958speedster (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

    @sthein Hi all,
I own Boston #76. I’ve driven it about 6,000 miles and loved every second of it.
It truly is the best Porsche I’ve ever driven. I’d love to part of an owners group. I’ve been surprised the guys at Singer hasn’t initiated one,. Those guys have been great before, during and after my build!

  • sthein (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@Rpwyman Thank you; it does get driven. Stop me and say hello. Actually, this has been a good experience. I have been surprised and embraced the participation and welcoming nature to @marckmich's inquiries, as well as the welcoming nature of the Singer community. Many are active participants in this and other car forums, in general. These interchanges have motivated me to initiate efforts to create a Singer Owners' Group, initially a private database of owners and maybe a public forum will follow.

  • ebaptista (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Guys I really appreciate all the comments and all the current owners stopping by to chime in.

    Happy bidding

  • Rpwyman (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@sthein I have seen your car a few times around PL. its beautiful!

  • Roma (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@SVAC luv, luv, luv the comment “.....just hit 10,400 miles driving to work.” That is how you get the true and meaningful value from all Porsches, reimagined or not. Well done. And what an amazing car that spec is, full stop.

  • sthein (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@PeterPorsche - I can't say, specifically. I know that COVID has had an impact on their business, like many. I spoke with Mark yesterday, who has an order that was due the end of this year, and was told his car will be delayed a year. I think his order is high 200-something. The order, although numerically sequenced, is only a rough guide as things get reshuffled due to changes, upgrades, politics and more. It would appear as if SVD is delivering about 3 a month now, was targeting double that but, as mentioned, COVID has had a big impact. The car, IMHO, and others, is worth waiting for and not likely to depreciate. I also understand that factory consolidation efforts are planned or underway, which may help. I am heartened by the few owners who have written it and I'm now begining to explore an owner's group, if there is interest. In the meantime, continue to write it and know this is a FABULOUS car that is available NOW, not in years to come!

  • PeterPorsche 2 years, 11 monthsago

Really cool that there are some actual owners here to answer some questions. I'm curious how many commissions have been built to date? @sthein and @poloton , looks like you both got your deliveries in 2018 at #130 and #107. Has SVD crossed the 200 mark yet? I know there's a big wait list, how many can they produce a year?

  • peloton (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Since I see a little gathering of owners starting here, I have #107, the Oregon commission. I live in southern Oregon. A little over 2k miles on mine since it was delivered in October 2018. I enjoyed being plugged in to the build process that took 2.5 years. It had a few issues early on, but Singer Vehicle Design (SVD) handled them just right. The car is a total joy to drive and hear and feel, and the attention to detail everywhere on and in the car is top notch - SVD's reputation is well known and, IMHO, well deserved.

  • Gman (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

I own Singer #117 'HONOR ROLL' which was featured in a recent Jay Lenos garage episode on You Tube. I have 16 Porsches in my collection and when getting home from being out of town for awhile the first car I drive is the Singer or the R. Everything you've heard about Singer is true. Phenomenal build quality and a blast to drive. I was recently offered $900,000 from a well known dealer and $925,000 from an international auction house. Also a Singer sold at auction last year for around $825,000 and it did not have a/c so the car offered here seems way under the money.

  • PeterBruce (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

    Tangled Up In Blue ....

  • PeterBruce (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

These are spectacular cars. Crazy cost, but you get what you pay for ... I’ve seen up close, the #100 car by Singer at the owner’s warehouse, the one J Leno featured and signed, under the hood ... just perfection. There is no substitute.

  • sthein (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@markmich - I think Pcar can’t help but if you haven’t, reach out to Dave Stone at SVAC (Google it in Idaho) and get info and contacts with some Singer owners, including me. Dave is knowledgeable and sells donor cars, as well as putting on an annual event that Singer co-sponsors. I have found him honest, unpretentious, and straightforward. Steve

@SVAC I have 11,000 plus. Recently the battery started showing signs of pooping out and the original supplier, Interstate, replaced it under warranty-no charge. The fuel cell was replaced by Singer, also without charge. Mine was an earlier flangless type and the gasket would weep. Those have been the only repairs other than the typical small things that one often finds on new cars--alignment, lights, etc. Mine had the common problem of cat-less cars, there was a drone between 1800 and 2800 rpm but we solved it without resorting to a titanium exhaust option. These cars are fabulous, fabulously expensive but seemingly a good investment, although that was never our goal. Just drive em like you stole em!

  • SVAC (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@markmich SVAC stands for Sun Valley Auto Club

  • markmich (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

  • SVAC (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@sthein Steve, How many miles on yours? Just hit 10,400 on mine today driving to work.

  • SVAC (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@markmich I'm happy to discuss Singers as well. I own the Sun Valley Commission. They are the best cars in the world.

  • sthein (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@markmich You might also try direct messaging Drew Coblitz (Coblitz) on Instagram. I believe he purchased one Singer used, then commissioned his own called: Sine Qua Non. Petrolicious did a video on his car https://petrolicious.com/films/porsche-911-reimagined-by-singer-sine-qua-non.

@markmich @markmich, I have written to Pcar, giving them permission to alloow us to facilitate an off-line dialogue. Let's see what happens. I can say the wait is long but worth it--although I am "drinking the kool-aid"! These cars are professional restomods and I have sprung for another restomod--the Alfaholics's gta-r 300 but that wait is 5 years; I hope it's not my coffin!

@sthein I would love to discuss your Singer ownership experience. I'm not sure if there is some way to communicate privately.

I am "kinda" an expert, having car #130, which is the Point Loma Commision. This appears to be the Southampton Commission, although it may or may not have been something else--although still a Singer commissioned car, earlier. I say that because there are several earlier items (the Becker radio, as as example, that was replaced with a Porsche Classic). Initial pictures show this car without a rollbar , the race seats (which are wonderful), and black gauges, which now show two in black and three in blue. It's important to remember that many of his commissions have gone back for subtle changes and updates--mine has benefited from two such "visits". I know of one car that changed hands and got the transmission replaced with a tiptronic and much of the striping, brake calipers and trim "feminized" in pink! I suspect Rob (the founder of Singer) and his crew know their audience and seek to fulfill their wishes! I will tell everyone here that they are every bit what they seem--fast, superior in every way and very expensive. I am sure there is over 2/3 million invested in this car. Rob is a perfectionist and it shows in a multitude of ways (look at how every piece of trim lines up; look for screws on the headlights or tail lights). I suspect, like mine, there really is no "build sheet;" yes, you spec it out but things change and it's not like it's all listed and priced. Rob and his crew helped me with many wishes I imagined (hidden cameras, a monitor in the sunvisor, twin electric odometers, etc) but never charged, per se. I understand that there is now a 3-year wait for the build to start and probably another 2, after that, for the build, itself. And, yes, I drive it all the time and now have over 11,000 miles on it (in about 3 years) and it hasn't missed a beat.

  • Monzos911 2 years, 11 monthsago

Hello, was this car in Puerto Rico?

  • ebaptista (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@chichi78 One gas on the front bonnet and one oil cap on the right quarter panel for the dry sump system.

  • chichi78 2 years, 11 monthsago

Random question - why 2 gas caps? This is the nicest car I have seen on PCAR. I envy the winning bidder. I would drive the heck out of this car. No storage for me.
