Available for auction is this 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Cabriolet finished in Polar Silver Metallic over a two-tone Light Grey/Classic Grey partial leather interior. Representing one of the most significant developments of the Porsche 911, the 964 introduced a new twin-plug 3.6L engine and debuted major revisions to styling, aerodynamics, suspension, steering, and braking. This 5-speed Carrera 2 Cabriolet has extensive maintenance records dating back to 2003 including a 2018 restoration and a host of recent mechanical services. This 964 Cabriolet is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania showing approximately 70k miles on the odometer.

The exterior is finished in Polar Silver Metallic and was completely repainted during the restoration in 2018 including a new windshield, convertible top, lenses, and seals. The factory 16” C2 5-spoke wheels were recently powder coated and dressed in. a set of new Yokohama ADVAN Sport A/S+ tires. Apart from a few minor imperfections, the finish is described to be in very good overall condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, this 964 sports two-tone Light Grey and Classic Grey partial leather upholstery. The power front seats were reupholstered during the 2018 restoration. Other updates include a Function First shift knob, battery maintainer plug, new speakers, Lloyd floor and seat mats, and a Blaupunkt Bremen Head Unit that provides Bluetooth streaming and hands-free phone compatibility. The seller notes the vehicle was originally delivered without rear seats, although a previous owner was able to source and install a matching set. All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly apart from the manual spoiler switch.

This Carrera 2 is powered by an air-cooled 3.6L M64 flat-six engine that sends up to 247 HP to the rear wheels via a G50 5-speed manual transmission. This 964 underwent extensive maintenance in the last 2k miles including a new clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, dual mass flywheel, RMS, tie rods, fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter, valve cover gaskets, idle air bypass valve, engine belts, wiper blades, brake pads, brake sensors, brake rotors, a brake fluid flush, new spark plugs and coils, and an oil/filter change. It has also been upgraded with a new AGM battery, Focus 9 Technology Solid State Electronic DME Relay, and an A/C conversion to R134a. The seller adds that the steering shaft was replaced in 2002.

This sale will include two sets of keys, maintenance records, a jack and compressor, a spare tire, lug wrench, owner’s manual, a new Stoddard Toolkit, and a clean title.

The maintenance summary list in the gallery includes all the maintenance and work performed in case you don't want to read all the attached receipts! The Maintenance Summary (colored grid) is also a great way to get a quick read on when the last time common maintenance items have been addressed. I'm here all day to answer any questions on the car.

The driving video now available was taken yesterday. Apologies for the shaky camera work, I was driving and shifting with one hand. Every time I drive this 964, I am reminded of how terrific the dynamics of this platform are. Shock valving is simply superb for everyday driving, neither harsh nor floaty. The power assisted steering (a first for the air cooled cars in the 964) is just the right amount of assist and road feel is excellent. And the engine - so much low end torque you can drive very calmly and yet ready to rev and pull to the redline anytime. It's really a wonderful experience.
A reminder that the 1992 and later versions of the 964 feature a number of factory improvements not found in the previous years. These include the use of sealing rings for the cylinder to heads (which was the bane of the previous years), the use of a plastic intake manifold (less weight and better flow), rear brakes on the C2 went from 2 pistons to 4, the troublesome flywheel was changed to the reliable LUK version (this car has a brand new clutch and flywheel 2k miles ago) and an updated G50 transmission. The body got the Aero mirrors (teardrop style) as used on the RS America, and 16" Cup Wheels. It's a great generation to purchase.

I have taken this car on an extended test drive down the curvy, tree-lined roads of rural Pennsylvania. The engine runs fantastic and pulls like it was new. Seller is honest, and a perfectionist who spared no expense getting this car in top shape for sale. Under different circumstances, this car would not be up for auction - it would be in my garage.

Bid with confidence! This is one of the good ones.

I can also confirm that this car is in amazing condition! And is 100% as advertised. The seller is a Porsche enthusiast with a depth of knowledge and skills. I regret not purchasing a perfect condition 987 that he was selling years ago. Not aware of his reputation at the time, I didn’t know what I was passing up. Learn from my mistake :)

I have seen this car in person and no doubt in the condition of the car and the honesty of the seller he knows 964 well as he is my Indy for my 92 Carrera Cup car. I f I didn't have a Boxster and MX-5 I'll buy this in a heartbeat.

I’m surprised no one has asked about the towel being used to protect the convertible top plastic window. It is visible in the video above. I’ve been doing that since my Alfa Spider Veloce days - it keeps the plastic window in great shape when the top is down.

Greetings All and welcome to my auction of this incredible condition 1992 964 Cab. This is a car you can just get in and drive, with all maintenance and cosmetic issues addressed that you might find in a 30 year old 911. It's also very stock, other than the shift knob. If that bothers you the Classic Gray factory knob is available for less than $300. I'm a long time Porsche fanatic and this is a great example of the 964. Ready to answer any and all questions.
