1992 Porsche 964 Carrera RS

We are pleased to offer this exceptional 1992 Porsche 964 Carrera RS Lightweight for auction.  Having been painstakingly maintained from new, this number’s matching 3-owner example remains in outstanding condition with approximately 34k original miles showing on the odometer.  Representing one out of a total 1,910 units produced for the entire world, this RS is the perfect choice for a dedicated air-cooled enthusiast.

This 964’s iconic Guards Red finish is stated to be in phenomenal condition.  The seller indicates that this RS has never been tracked or subjected to inclement driving conditions and appears to have been kept in a climate controlled environment its entire life.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery as well as paint meter readings.  With lightweight performance being the name of the game, this RS features an aluminum front hood, a seam welded chassis and thinner glass in the doors and rear windshield.  This RS retains its original lightweight magnesium wheels which are said to be in perfect shape.  An impeccably well-preserved example, the seller notes that the original Cosmolene protective gel can still be found intact throughout the undercarriage.

This RS is outfitted with a performance-oriented interior featuring Sport Bucket Seats upholstered in black and grey leather.  The interior is stated by the seller to be in pristine original condition with all gauges and accessories fully functional.  Special weight-saving features include lightweight door cards with red RS pulls, a rear seat delete, manual window lifts, and lightweight carpeting.  Amenities such as air conditioning, power seats, cruise control, radio and noise deadening were omitted from the RS in the pursuit of weight reduction.

This Carrera RS is equipped with a revised version of the standard 3.6L flat-six engine internally designated as M64/03.  Utilizing precisely matched pistons and cylinders as well as sequential fuel injection and Bosch electronic engine management, the M64/03 is capable of producing a claimed 260 HP and 275 lb-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a smooth G50/10 5-speed manual transmission with steel synchronizer rings as well as altered shift sleeves with taller 1st & 2nd gears.  Other factory drivetrain enhancements include a single-mass sport flywheel and an asymmetrical limited-slip differential.  Suspension upgrades consist of adjustable anti-roll bars, alloy transverse control arms, coilover shocks with stiffer struts and a 1.5” lowered ride height.

Modifications include a 100-cell catalytic converter and a Cup Car cross pipe for enhanced exhaust flow and sound.  Reported to be up-to-date on all due service, this 964 is being offered in excellent driving condition.

Following in the footsteps of legends like the 2.7 RS and 3.0 RSR, the 964 RS debuted in 1992 and was offered exclusively in the European market.  At the time Porsche did not consider it worth their while to import the car to the U.S. on account of its aggressive tuning and stiffened ride.  In turn, the RS has become one of the rarest and most collectible 911’s on American soil.

The sale of this remarkable 1992 RS will include original books and documentation, keys and comprehensive service records.  This vehicle is offered with a clear Alabama title.  Considered by some enthusiasts to be the ultimate 964, the Carrera RS is a true Porsche icon.  Do not let this incredibly rare opportunity pass you by.

@fryardds <<Is there a duplicate label on the inside page of the manual?>>

Yes; I apologize, it was uploaded to PcarMarket admin and should be in the gallery -- here is a DropBox link to the owner's manual option sticker - https://www.dropbox.com/s/0gmnx5in2sb34j3/1992-porsche-carrera-rs-2.jpeg?dl=0

<<I am assuming the trunk lid is original. Thanks.>>

    Correct.

@ehd911 Thanks for share those observations about the paint work done to the car. Yes, agreed the under side of the RS is in excellent condition. Makes sense the price reflects the paint work done in the past along with the mileage. Interesting the paper label on the underside of the trunk is completely faded, or it looks that way in the photos. Is there a duplicate label on the inside page of the manual? I am assuming the trunk lid is original. Thanks.

  • ehd911 (seller) 1 month, 3 weeksago

@fryardds Thank you for your interest. As shown in the large number of high quality photos & videos, the paint is in excellent condition for an original RS Lightweight that has some paint touched-up. The left rear quarter panel and hood have been touched-up per the meter readings, not visually noticeable (possibly some minor touch-up on other panels except the front fenders and top). No sign of accidents on any seams or underneath. All original fasteners, underside panels and engine hardware. Note that this RS Lightweight is priced to account for it's original paint that has been touched-up; offered $75k below fully original paint RS Lightweight comps of this class. However, there are few original RS Lightweights that are as pristine cosmetically and mechanically; needing nothing -- fewer that are actual comps and have been imported into the USA with a clear title. Other key/rare aspects of this RS Lightweight on this topic:

    - Original Wax On Underside & Components
    - Underside completely free of damage
    - No Bottoming/Scrapes on Front Underside as is Common
    - Never Tracked
    - Never Exposed to Winter/Salt Conditions
    - New Brake Pads & Rotors
    - 100 Cell Cat Installed & Cup Car Cross Pipe
    - Fender Liners & Underside Covers Original & Perfect
    - Motor & Transmission Free of Leaks and Have Never Been Apart
    - Original Magnesium Wheels in Perfect Condition
    - Original Factory Applied Cosmolene Protective Gel Intact
    - Low miles, 3 Owner Car (plus the selling dealer w/Clear Alabama Title)
    - Runs & Drives Perfectly
    - Needs Nothing

    Hello,
Based on those paint meter measurements have you found any areas of the car that have been repainted? Thanks.

  • ehd911 (seller) 2 months, 1 weekago

@burnrubr Will do, thank you; please contact me privately via the platform interface (as I don't believe the PcarMarket admin would like dealers posting/advertising their website via auctions, thus I want to be respectful).

@ehd911 ok thanks any website I can visit?

  • ehd911 (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago

@burnrubr We are a Porsche only collection that also markets Porsches worldwide; thus not a typical dealer.

    @ehd911 are you a dealer ?

  • ehd911 (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago

@camel993 You are very close; don't miss this significant below market investment opportunity over our trivial variance on an Alabama titled original Carrera RS Lightweight of this class & condition.
