Now available for auction is this 1993 Porsche 964 RS America finished in Grand Prix White. Following the success of the 964 RS in the European market, enthusiasts in the United States demanded a lightweight, purpose-built 964 model of their own. In collaboration with racing legend Vic Elford, Porsche introduced a track-oriented, lightweight car based on the Carrera 2, named the “RS America”. One of only 701 examples produced, this RS America was sold new in Michigan and spent time in Oklahoma, Maryland, and Virginia before being acquired by the current owner in 2016. The motor was rebuilt approximately 10k miles ago and features ported & polished original cylinder heads by Xtreme, Dema Elgin custom cams, lightweight Carillo connecting rods, Jenvey Dynamics individual throttle bodies, bespoke handspun aluminum trumpets by PJ Motorsports, and a tune by Dawes Motorsport.  Additionally, this 964 has been fitted with lightweight carbon-kevlar bumpers, a Guard Cup limited-slip differential, a Voltphreaks lightweight battery, Ohlins TTX dual-adjustable dampers, a Fabspeed dual-outlet RSR-style exhaust system, and a front strut brace. Now showing just over 69k miles on the odometer, this RS America is being offered for auction by its owner out of New York accompanied by a host of factory original parts.

This Coupe comes finished in Grand Prix White (P5) and features a unique Carrera spoiler, “RS” designations on the lower rear quarter panels, and an “RS America” model designation on the rear decklid. The original bumpers have been swapped out for lightweight carbon-kevlar units and a pair of modern projector-style 9Eleven headlights have been equipped along with a set of 18” BBS E88 wheels mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Some patina is visible in the form of spiderwebbing in the taillight lenses and a few small chips as depicted in the gallery. Paint meter readings are also provided along with a clean CARFAX report.

The RS America weighed in just shy of 3,000 lbs from the factory, while this example has been lightened with the removal of the optional air-conditioning system, radio, and more to achieve a wet weight of 2,590 lbs (w/ ballast). It came factory fitted with special lightweight carpeting, cloth seats, basic door panels with pull straps, and a rear seat delete. The cabin features an aftermarket MOMO Competition steering wheel and a set of Recaro bucket seats with red safety belts and custom pepita houndstooth inserts. Both the factory optional radio and air conditioning have been removed, and all other gauges and accessories are said to be working properly.

This RS America is powered by its original air-cooled 3.6L flat-six engine, which now produces a dyno-tested 364 HP thanks to its numerous modifications. It was rebuilt approximately 10k miles ago using including the installation of ported & polished cylinder heads by Xtreme, Dema Elgin custom cams, Carillo connecting rods, Jenvey Dynamics individual throttle bodies, bespoke handspun aluminum trumpets by PJ Motorsports, a Fabspeed dual-outlet RSR-style exhaust system, and a tune by Dawes Motorsport. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a modified 5-speed G50 manual gearbox, which includes an FVD Goldenrod short shifter, a Guard 2nd-4th gear set, and a Guard Cup limited-slip differential. The suspension has been fitted with Ohlins TTX dual-adjustable dampers, a front strut brace, and corner balanced for optimal performance. Images of the dyno sheet and corner balance alignment can be found in the gallery. The seller notes the work was largely carried out by reputable subcontractors of Singer Vehicle Design including Jae Lee, engine designer who worked with Cosworth to develop the first Singer flat-six engine.

This sale will include the original exhaust and headers with heat exchangers, the original limited-slip differential, a spare wheel/tire, the original engine connecting rods and springs, stock steering wheel and airbag, factory A/C compressor, the original intake/plenum, and a clean title. Extracting even more performance and sensation from the visceral RS America, this uncompromisingly tuned 1993 example is an air-cooled driving enthusiast's dream come true.

    @bergx7 Understood. It's been a bit of a scramble and you're correct.

Spring is hopefully near so back on the road soon

Good action and strong bids on this hot rod. Speaking as a fellow hot rod owner, you may consider posting additional receipts and documentation given your price expectations. I would start with the engine build receipt and receipts for the other major items (Guard, Ohlins, etc.) and also add compression/leakdown. A few minutes of paperwork and few hundred bucks to confirm engine compression/leakdown is healthy will bring the desired top dollar! Jealous of whoever this ultimately goes to...

  • Rollingart1 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@bergx7 Topped it off a couple of times; maybe 3-5 changes would be my guess. Did it seasonally in the spring regardless of interim mileage

  • bergx7 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Thanks, so in the 10k miles or so since it was built, how many oil changes were done and has any top up oil been added in between or not to your knowledge?

  • Rollingart1 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@bergx7 Idk about quarts/1000 miles; it doesn't appear to be too thirsty.

No oil analysis to assess wear in but she was broken in properly.

No compression/leakdown - although stock heads were re-done (ported & polished) by Xtreme.

    No drone at cruise.

  • burnrubr 2 years, 1 monthago

Bid in the amount of $110,000

  • bergx7 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

A few questions in case i jump in:
    1. How is oil consumption? 1 quart per 1000 miles? more/less?
    2. Have you done any oil analysis to look at how its wearing in?
    3. Compression / leakdown available?
    4. Any drone from the dual exhaust at cruise?

  • bergx7 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@rollingart1 very cool car. Similar in ethos to my 4.0 liter built 997 GT3. This is what the RS America should have been from the factory and is significantly more fun and faster than a stock RS America (which are, lets be honest, not particularly special to drive compared to a stock C2).

The pool of buyers that have the talent and knowledge to drive and maintain this is indeed smaller that people looking to squirrel away another one into a collection but that's the beauty of something like this: its going to be driven and seen. Its frankly too far "gone" for someone to put back to stock and that's a great thing. To do so would be a waste of excellent engineering.

Needs a little TLC on small aesthetic details but mechanically it looks completely dialed and using all the right parts. I already have an air cooled hot rod in the garage but I am watching this one...

  • Bored (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@Beandip83 Agreed. Great car but I would have kept it stock. GLWA

  • Rollingart1 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@Beandip83 Thanks for the kind words;) feels like mission accomplished regardless of pricing

  • Beandip83 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@Porsche964993 I don’t disagree that this is. gem of a car with all the thoughtful upgrades to improve on the ethos of the rs but with a 2k mile original rsa recently sold for just over 200k I find it hard to see this thing going to 250k. Market will decide but it seems modified cars, no matter how well executed don’t bring home the premiums oem one’s do. Gorgeous car, love the driving videos and by the looks of it this thing really moves. Glwta

  • Porsche964993 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Easy 250k car all day long

  • Rollingart1 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@bergx7 Have ITG filters as well/ only been running with trumpets & screens for abt 6 months.

  • bergx7 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Stunning build. How long has the car run with just mesh filters on the ITBs? Do you have foam filters that fit this setup?

  • Rollingart1 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

    @burnrubr Yes to crank.

Simply exquisite; she has a wonderful duality. So much torque and so well tuned she takes throttle inputs in every gear at low rpm's- provided one has some finesse.

  • burnrubr (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

I assumed the posted HP is crank? How is she to drive OP?

  • Rollingart1 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

    @RumbleAuto @stevetheodore

Thanks! Had a gt4 but the RSA was soo good punted the gt4;) it's the gearing on the gt4 which really killed it for me- same reason I swapped for a short gear set (2-4) from Guard.....the stock gearing on the 964 is perfect if your building for emission standards not drivers....

  • Rollingart1 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@PLAY_HARD No leakage; I've been running them for 2 1/2 years; approximately 10k miles on them.

  • Rollingart1 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@fatcam Tons. Will upload the major stuff.

  • PLAY_HARD (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Seller, could you provide the specs of the E88? How long have you owned it? Any sign of leaking?

  • fatcam (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Any service records / documentation of the engine build?

  • RumbleAuto (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

    What an awesome RSA!

  • DubbleDeez1 2 years, 1 monthago

@burnrubr I figured that's what happened... did make me laugh though!

  • burnrubr (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@DubbleDeez1 lol yes I thought it didn't go through and push the button again . I'll try but I'm limited on budget and I assumed to be outbidded anytime soon.

  • PorscheGeek (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

I have had the pleasure of seeing this RSA ripping it up on Snake Hill Road in Lloyd Harbor on an early Sunday morning while I was doing the same in my 996 - and it looked and sounded amazing...then a few weeks later I was able to examine this RSA inside & out & under the bonnet while it was on display at the Manhasset Concourse D'elegance and it is absolutely stunning - - Good Luck

  • DubbleDeez1 2 years, 1 monthago

what a gorgeous car.. the sounds in the driving video are pure rapture!

@burnrubr... did you just outbid yourself!?!

just a note... Peter and the team at DAWES are gentlemen and very knowledgable and I have no affiliation with seller or Dawes... best of luck and thanks for bringing it here..

  • Foxtrot (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@Rollingart1 Thank you for getting back to me...so the necessary stock equipment to restore the hvac system are all accounted for and included - correct? Are the original seats included as well? Thank you again...what a great looking "stance"...!

  • Rollingart1 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@hootie Correct. Missed that on the listing; thanks for noting the discrepancy I will have Pcar adjust accordingly

  • hootie 2 years, 1 monthago

beautiful car, but the BBS E88s are 18s not 17s

  • Rollingart1 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@Wilbur Thanks very much; Jae was incredible to work with & learn from.

A better & nicer man can't be found.

  • Wilbur (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Jae Lee is the man, no doubt. His motors were used in Singers wearing Cosworth badges. Figure that one out. Jaes Motors, Cosworth badge.
    Epic build.

  • Rollingart1 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@Foxtrot Thanks very much. No apologies needed.

It was a labor of love and quite the experience learning from and befriending the builders; especially Jae Lee of Mirage International- a master craftsmen but a finer man.

No functional A/C; seats are not stock/ Recaro pole positions.

  • Foxtrot (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Did you fund the rebuild 10k miles ago or did a previous owner of the RS? Are those the original seats in an RS? I re-read the description and couldn't find the data - if I missed it I apologize. Just confirming, A/C is not currently functional, correct?

    Beautiful car.

  • Rollingart1 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

Professionally built using the finest air cooled craftsmen around; the chief engine architect was Jae Lee of Mirage International. Jae built some of the very first Singer 911's and bestowed this beauty with an unbelievably well constructed beast of a motor pushing north of 360 hp from a matching #s 3.6.

I know the seller personally lol.

    Bid with confidence.
