Up for auction is this 1993 Porsche 968 Coupe finished in Grand Prix White over a Marine Blue leather interior.   This example features a desirable 6-speed manual transmission, upgraded front and rear sway bars, and 17” Cup II wheels.  This future classic is being offered in turn-key condition by the seller in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Grand Prix White finish on this 968 is said to remain in great condition with only a few minor rock chips on the front-end and minor scraping on the lower portion of the front bumper.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery.  This car sits on 17” Cup II wheels, that come wrapped in BFGoodrich tires.  An upgraded 30mm front sway bar and a 19mm adjustable sway bar in the rear increases the car’s rigidity and improves handling.  A new set of cross-drilled rotors have been installed on all-four corners complete with ceramic brake pads for increased stopping power.

Inside, you will find a very well-maintained Marine Blue leather interior that shows only a few creases on the front seats and slight cracking on the dash near the air vents which is typical of cars from this period.  A set of dimmable LED bulbs have been installed in the gauge cluster which allow for customized levels of illumination to suite your driving preference.  For a touch of modern convenience an upgraded Sony head unit with Bluetooth has been installed.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.0L inline-four engine that produces 237 HP at 6,200 RPM and 225 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 RPM. The responsive four-cylinder engine can propel this 968 to 60 MPH in approximately 6.5 seconds and continues on to a top speed of 157 MPH. Performance is enhanced by factory features including VarioCam variable valve timing system, optimized induction and exhaust systems, a dual-mass flywheel, and updated engine management electronics. The seller has increased this car’s factory performance with the addition of a Dinan engine management chip.

This car is said to be in excellent running condition with the following items recently serviced or replaced:

  • Timing and balance shafts belts
  • Ignition wires
  • Starter
  • Sunroof seals
  • VarioCam chain and chain guides

The sale of this 968 includes a master key, recent records, a clean Carfax, original 16” wheels, and the original radio. The Porsche 968 is quickly gaining favor with enthusiasts thanks to its distinctive aesthetics which set it apart from other Porsche’s of this era. This example serves as a testament that you don’t need to break the bank to get yourself into a future classic.

@JNasty There are only some cracks around the air vents on the upper dash. I will send a photo to PCMARKET. There is a gentleman in Grand Rapids, MI who can recover the entire dash in Marine Blue leather for less than $1,000. Until I bought a different car, I was going to send it out to be done. I will be glad to share the full information on this to the buyer.

Thanks @dnpcar, I was unaware Dinan ever made ECU chips for Porsches.

@etherwiggles The coolant is blue OAT coolant made especially for aluminum radiators and engines. The photo was taken when engine was cold. I will try and take a picture of the build sticker and send it to PCMarket for posting.

Can you put up a picture of the build sticker?
The coolant looks dark and low.

@Spokayman The timing and balance shaft belts were replaced 2 years ago. The 968 has the same hydraulic belt tensioner as in the 911. Yes, it is a Dinan chip. They developed it for the 968 and was purchased through Pelican parts. It allows the vario- cam to come into play at lower rpm's and last longer. I have the original chip which will be included in the sale. The plastic engine trim pieces were not on the car when I purchased it.

  • Spokayman (registered bidder) 4 years, 1 monthago

This 968 looks great in white, and it’s nice to read of recent maintenance.

How recently were the timing and balance shaft belts replaced? These are to be replaced on both time and mileage intervals.

Also, do you have the missing plastic engine trim pieces (front and back)?

Finally, the engine chip likely isn’t a Dinan unit as their products are for BMWs and late model Mercedes only. Can you clarify?
    Thanks.
