Unveiled at the 1989 North American International Auto Show, the original Dodge Viper was created as a visceral modern roadster inspired by the Shelby Cobra. This 1994 example is one of just 246 units to have been exported to Canada for the model year and comes finished in Viper Red over a gray leather interior and features an uncommon air conditioning option. Showing approximately 29k kilometers (~18k miles) on the odometer, this RT/10 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.
This Viper features a distinctive silhouette with its elongated front and rearward cabin and comes finished in Viper Red with a black removable soft top and removable glass side curtains. Exterior details include a large front grille, a large clamshell front hood, fender louvers that sit just ahead of the doors, and side-exit exhaust outlets. It rides on 17” aluminum alloy tri-spoke wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport tires with 60-70% remaining tread reported. The seller notes very slight imperfections, and the front lip and exhaust show some rubbing.
The cockpit features two manually adjustable sport seats trimmed in gray leather with a matching center console, dashboard, and door panels. A true purist’s sports car, this first-generation Viper offers only basic amenities including a glove box, a 12-volt outlet, a speaker system, and a suite of analog instrumentation. Air conditioning was also first offered in 1994. The seller notes the clip for the shifter trim is loose.
This Viper is equipped with an 8.0-liter V10 engine that was codeveloped with Lamborghini and factory rated at 400 HP and 465 lb.-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. Handling is controlled through a power steering system and independent suspension while stopping power is provided by ventilated disc brakes at each corner. The seller reports an oil change to have been performed under their ownership.
