This 1995 Porsche 993 Carrera began life as a Cabriolet and underwent a Speedster-style body conversion using a mix of genuine 964 Speedster and 993 Turbo components. It comes finished in Guards Red and features 18” Speedline-style wheels, a C2S split-grill decklid, Turbo S rear quarters, Bilstein PSS10 coilovers, sport mufflers, and a custom black leather interior with carbon fiber trim and RS-style bucket seats. Said to have been kept as part of an esteemed Porsche collection in Beverly Hills, this custom Speedster-bodied 993 is now being offered for auction out of California while showing under 29k miles on the odometer.

The Speedster body conversion uses a shortened windscreen and double-hump tonneau cover from a 964 Speedster, 993 Turbo S rear quarters with integrated air scoops, and a Carrera S split-grille decklid as well as 993 Turbo bumpers, rockers, and fenders. The car has been refinished in Guards Red and rides on 18” Speedline-style wheels with polished outer lips and grey-painted centers. Other details include Turbo S front fog light inserts, dual exhaust outlets, headlight washers, red-painted brake calipers, and a “993” rear model designation. The car is said to have been professionally built using knowledge and specifications from the only two factory 993 Speedsters ever built. The seller adds that the exterior is in very good overall condition and the previous owner displayed this car at many Porsche events. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, this 993 features a custom black leather interior with red deviated stitching, carbon fiber RS-style door panels, and RS-style bucket seats with Guards Red painted backrests. Details include red seatbelts, black carpet floor mats with red “993” embroideries, Speedster logo door sills, aftermarket pedal covers, carbon fiber dashboard and center console trim, a carbon fiber instrument surround, a custom Speedster logo tachometer, and a three-spoke steering wheel, gear knob, and parking brake handle with carbon fiber trim. The rear seats have been removed and the radio is deleted with a carbon fiber cover in its place. Driver amenities include power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, and a central locking system. All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly, although the seller recommends checking the A/C system.

An air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 272 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. The car has been modified with aftermarket sport mufflers, 993 Turbo "Big Red" Brembo brakes, and upgraded Bilstein PSS10 coilovers. The seller indicates that the car is due for routine annual maintenance.

This sale will include some documentation and a clean title.

    I saw 3 - 993 Speedster conversions at Bruce Canepa's amazing facility at the start of Monterey Car Week this year. Their drive off is towards the beginning of this video. I own a customized 911 Speedster as well, but this is your chance to purchase one for a fraction of what they would cost to build today! https://youtu.be/JJg9A7Nd5ts

    Just so everyone is aware, all the real speedster parts on this car are basically impossible to find. It could be argued that the parts on this car are worth 2-3x where the bids currently are.

    Currently clean Colorado title. Not sure on the carfax, could be a mistake. I don’t know, we didn’t build the car, just facilitating sale for client and we have done some minor service work. The car is very nice and won’t disappoint.

    Why does the description say clean Carfax report where the first entry of the Carfax shows the car was stolen in NY and in 1996 a salvage title was issued? What state is the car currently titled and registered?

  • 993fan (registered bidder) 5 months, 2 weeksago

    Great looking build, very well done. Also wanted to point out that this is also a 718 coded car, meaning it was among the first 1,500 993s built that had quite few 964 parts on it from the factory.

    @Austinrussell Can you send me contact info about the speedster top you have?
    Thanks

  • Shuvlpan (registered bidder) 5 months, 2 weeksago

    Can you post a close up in focus picture of where the cowl and window frame meet. With the door open door open.

  • Shuvlpan (registered bidder) 5 months, 2 weeksago

    @Austinrussell - Austin, contact KMH Motorcars in West Palm. They will have interest.

  • Workshop5001 (seller) 5 months, 2 weeksago

    @wickedmotorworks you are welcome to get in touch to discuss

  • wickedmotorworks (registered bidder) 5 months, 2 weeksago

    @Workshop5001 There is 2 days and a few hours remaining before the auction ends. And we’re in LA as well, is there a reason you can’t show us the car for inspection, in the next two days?

  • Workshop5001 (seller) 5 months, 2 weeksago

    @austinrussell it does have a top, not sure why it isn’t shown in album, it is in our complete album we submitted. @wickedmotorworks doesn’t look like I will have time to show the car before auction end. It’s in storage in LA. Work was done in Colorado I believe name of shop is in file of paperwork with the car. It was someone I hadn’t heard of , but as stated previously the work was done to high standards and the paint job is very nice… This car was a bit of a novelty for the current owners speedster collection which included one of every speedster generation ever built, and every year of 356 speedster built… it looked great sitting with the rest of the collection. This car won’t disappoint.

  • Workshop5001 (seller) 5 months, 2 weeksago

    @brandon993 no idea on CARFAX. Car currently has a clean title. This is a conversion put together car from all real speedster parts on a low mile 993 cab. The work was done to high standards. Previous owner’s hobby was taking this car to shows. There are also bunch of articles on the car if you google 993 speedster.

    @workshop 501
    1. Where can I come and inspect this car?
    2. What shop performed the conversion?

    @Austinrussell
    1. What do you want for the soft top and windshield frame? And what are their conditions?

  • Austinrussell 5 months, 3 weeksago

    Does this car have a soft top under the double hump shell? If not, I have the Corte nos oem 964 speedster soft top and frame available
