1996 Porsche 993 Twin-Turbo Speedster Custom

Up for auction is this custom 1996 Porsche 993 Gemballa twin-turbo Speedster widebody.  Purchased by its seller in 2011 at 28k miles, this 993 Cabriolet had already been treated to a Gemballa steel widebody transformation, an upgraded H&R suspension, “Big Red” brakes, and a Prototech twin-turbo conversion for a reported output of 450 HP at the rear wheels.  It has since been further customized with unique body styling, Matte Grey paint, Speedster components, and a bespoke leather/Alcantara interior.  With over $250k reportedly invested in this build, this one-of-a-kind widebody 993 is now being offered by its owner of the past 10 years out of Pennsylvania, with approximately 38k miles showing on the odometer.

Wide steel fenders, fiberglass ducted rocker panels, and a fixed rear wing were all installed as part of the initial Gemballa transformation under previous ownership.  This example was later sent to Wicked Motor Works in California to undergo a custom Speedster styling conversion using all OEM parts including a short windshield, door glass, and a signature double-hump rear fairing.  A modified 997 Turbo front bumper was also installed along with a custom rear bumper featuring a carbon fiber diffuser.  This Cabriolet was then custom painted in a Grey color derived from the Lamborghini Reventon and finished with a matte clear coat.  Other modifications include a Strosek removable hardtop with Alcantara lining, a center taillight delete, and aftermarket Avant Grade forged wheels finished in satin grey with a contrasting red pinstripe.

Inside, the cabin has been completely redone in Terracotta and black Bentley leather. The design of the interior is said to have been inspired by the 997 Speedster, and some noteworthy features include new black factory carpet, 997 hardback Sport Seats, Gemballa instrument faces, a custom center console, carbon fiber and aluminum trim, a Speedster rear shelf conversion, OEM carbon/aluminum shifter and brakes handles, and a custom re-covered RUF steering wheel.  Added technology includes a wireless tire pressure monitoring system, an integrated K40 radar detector, and a Clarion NX501 system that offers GPS, satellite radio, a back-up camera, iPod connectivity, and more.  The seller reports that the electric door locks, power windows, and handles have been retained.

The 3.6 L flat-six engine in this example was brought to Prototech in Florida to receive a twin-turbo conversion including a performance ECU tune as well as custom intake and exhaust systems.  A dyno test reveals a claimed output of 450 HP at the rear wheels, which is transferred through a 6-speed manual transmission.  Other performance upgrades include an adjustable H&R suspension, a larger front sway bar, and Porsche Turbo “Big Red” brakes.  A major service was recently completed by Gulf Motorsports in Pompano Beach at a cost of approximately $10k and service records are also said to accompany the sale.

This sale will include a clean title.  Offering upgraded performance and custom looks unlike any other 993 on the road, this one-off Gemballa twin-turbo Speedster is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.

@SStone thank you for the feedback. I may evaluate what option I would have to make a cash offer as well

@GT3Fun Hi. Thanks for your interest but I am just looking for cash sale at this time.

I am interested in the car. Would you consider a trade or partial trade of a Ferrari F 355 Berlinetta ? If possible let us talk

@BarryLe Understood and happy to make any sale from any buyer continent upon personal inspection of the vehicle.

Scot: As I have said numerous times throughout this auction, what you have with this car is simply spectacular and so “one of a kind”. It is truly an epic build. However, the car is so epic that I guess I can’t bring myself to bid on it without seeing the car in person, driving it, and reviewing its documentation. Sorry.

@SStone Wow looks like Pcarmarket is employing censorship on the comments. This is your game and you get to make all the rules. Far be it from me to set your standards. My comment was only an ask for further documentation of this antique that was all not inflammatory at all. Unless you are afraid of the term “caveat emptor”.

There are better platforms to sell your cars out there. I for one will after this obvious censorship will never place any future cars on Pcarmarket.

Let’s see how long this one stays up.

@BarryLe Great video about a similar conversion. I saw this on eBay last year and try to buy it. I wound up selling for over $200,000. The speedster windshield is $50,000 alone.

Strong bid from starbunn. I think he wants this Speedster. I have decided the car is too far over the top for me to bid to win but I love the car.

@tchronister unfortunately agree with you. Wildly modified speedster not bad. But C minus on the ad presentation. Start up videos need to see the instrument cluster, and how about some under carriage photos. A 25 yo antique like this one needs a much deeper inspection.

Seller you want this car to go high no doubt. You will have to do a heck of a lot more work to show an honest represented car. Or maybe air cooled 993 junkies don’t care about that.

Beautiful car with no documentation caveat emptor.

@BarryLe Hi. Unfortunately I will not be able to do this before the auction ends as I am in a different location than the paperwork. The car is up-to-date on all service required. If anything is needed on the car, I will stand behind it.

  • BarryLe (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

    Scot: Can you post a copy of the latest service with Vinnie at Gulf Motorsports?}

For once I can't find the right words to say.

Embarrassed, for someone. Wow. A lot said in this thread I cannot even talk about how poor this car is.

  • SStone (seller) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@Hi Confirming this car was never involved in any sort of accident whatsoever.
I have a clean and clear FL title in hand.

@993David C2 narrow body cab. Then was converted to steel turbo front and rear fenders by gemballa.

  • SStone (seller) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@BarryLe thank you for the compliment! I am a devoted air cooled guy but also have a soft spot for the new targas. Porsche did a great job in the design. I have a second home in delray and I am sure as life progresses will eventually make the move permanently. I have put a ton of energy and resources into the car and you will not be disappointed. You can also talk to Vinnie from gulf in pompano. He knows the car well.

  • 993David (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Hi, did this start out as a c2 or c4. Apologies if I missed it in the description.

  • BarryLe (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@SStone Scot: Your Gemballa 911 is simply spectacular and the perfect car for Boca Raton. Like everyone else with money these days, you should be relocating to South Florida to enjoy the good weather and the low taxes. I love your car I will likely bid. My daily driver is a very highly optioned Carmine Red 2018 Targa 4GTS with a 7 sp. manual. To be honest, I’d rather drive your car around Boca. It truly is a one of a kind build.

  • SStone (seller) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@BarryLe I’m sorry, I have since transported the car back to Philadelphia. Perhaps we can set up a FaceTime walk around?

  • BarryLe (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Scot: Since the car was at Gulf Motorsports recently, is the car still in South Florida? I am in Boca Raton for the winter season and I am interested in your 911. I have two of my own that are very special. I would like to see your car. Thanks.
