We are pleased to offer this exceptional 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera 4S Coupe finished in Arena Red over a black leather interior.  This two-owner example has been driven sparingly throughout its life and comes with an original window sticker and a clean bill of health.  It is now being offered with only 20,966 miles on the odometer by its seller in Pennsylvania.

The Arena Red finish on this Carrera 4S is said to remain in very nicel factory condition.  Detailed images are available in the photo gallery along with recent paint meter readings.  From the factory, this 993 highlights a widened body and 18” alloy wheels which come wrapped in 2008 dated Bridgestone tires.  Offered in an impeccably clean state, this ’96 C4S makes the ideal candidate for a collector's garage.

Inside, you will find a black leather interior that shows to be in excellent condition.  A few noteworthy factory options include automatic speed control, power seats, and a HiFi Sound Package.  All gauges and electronics are stated to be in working order including the aftermarket head unit.

This 993 C4S is powered by its original 3.6 L flat-six engine that puts out over 282 HP to all four wheels by way of a crisp 6-speed manual transmission.  A factory multi-link rear suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, and four-piston brakes all work in unison to create the incredible driving experience this car offers.  Additionally, this example is factory equipped with a desirable Motor Sound Package.  The seller notes that a service was performed last year which included the replacement of all fluids and filters.  It is said to remain in excellent running condition.

The sale will include two keys, factory books, service records, an original window sticker, tools, an air pump, and a clean Carfax report.

@rak1161 your comment has been removed by the administrator.

Pcarmarket acknowledged the error of the model year on this listing that you referenced. It has been corrected and a comment has been made to reflect it. All of your additional comments do not seem to have any validity and seem to be personal against the seller. The seller has proven to be very responsive and accommodating to all interested parties. We ask that anything valid that you wish to share be done so in a professional and ethical way.

@nosubstitute4porsche What I was attempting to point out is that a compression test by itself, in the case of the 993, will not necessarily disclose badly worn valve guides, the replacement of which requires a veteran Porsche mechanic and a bunch of money. In my case, with the tt, the seller paid for the valve job, but I spent 6.5K of my money as a result of “while you’re in there” syndrome. My 750 bevel drive Ducati’s suffered similar valve guide issues, but that’s another long story. ...maybe it’s me and bronze alloy and not Porsche. These are amazing, dependable, durable, handsome and fun to drive. They have their own “look” and personality like no other car. I have had 2-911’s, a 930, 2 -993na’s, a 993tt, a997S and my present 991S. I have been driving 911’s for 31 years and the 993’s are my favorites. I am an old man who vividly remembers much that didn’t actually occur, and have forgotten much that did. If you buy this wonderful car drive it...a lot. It will reward you far more than the depreciation will cost you.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 10 monthsago

@GT37148 Hello. I see what appears to be residue on the front of the two covers in the photo. I finally got access to a lift and removed both covers and took some photos which I hope to have posted shortly. Having said that I need to also state that there was no residue on the inside of the covers or on the floor from when the car was left on the lift for several(about 9 hours).sorry for the delay and thank you for your patience

@Narbeh Thank you. My opinion is that the health of the motor is "intact" I am not out to have an unhappy buyer.I appreciate the"community" looking out for each other. Before I would sell a "unhealthy car" I would just as soon keep it. Thank you for your understanding in advance. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have. I am here and available.. THANK YOU AGAIN.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 10 monthsago

@Solomonschris Thank you.. Is my understanding that a leak down test is no guarantee that the motor is in good working order or did I misinterpret your statement? THANK YOU

  • Solomonschris (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@narbeh I don’t believe it has ever been the norm that the seller was expected to pay for the PPI. The extra cost of a leakdown would be almost insignificant for a 993 selling for what this one will. Maybe the norms are changing here as well, in the world of 100K plus “sight unseen” car auctions. When shopping for my 993tt I walked away from a car when the seller would not allow a leakdown to be performed.

  • Narbeh (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@Solomonschris agree. been down that road many times myself in my search. Would behoove the seller to provide this information and would provide assurance to the pool of interested parties including myself that the health of the motor is intact.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@Solomonschris thank you for your input sir

  • Solomonschris (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

This is a lovely 993 in a great color combo. The low mileage does not mean that there are no expensive engine issues. I purchased a 1996 993tt that had 23k miles. It had fine compression, with no discernable “wiggle” of any of the valves, but on the firm advise of posters on the Rennlist 993tt forum I had a leakdown test performed. It showed high 90’s in 5 cylinders but in the teens in one cylinderThe culprit was badly worn valve guides on the one cylinder. The seller, a fine gentleman, paid for a valve job. Some 993’s had valve guide material that wore out very early...most did not. I sold one of my 993na coupes with 58k that passed its PPI leakdown with numbers in high 90’s.

If this car is as represented, it deserves to bring the high numbers it is likely to achieve, but I would advise a leakdown be performed by a Porsche specialist with 993 engine rebuild experience. GLWA

  • SShrem80 (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

not clear is the car located currently in Dallas PA or Montana?

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 11 monthsago

    @Narbeh Hello again
I do not have a compression check. Having said that I am confident that the car has great compression and that the performance will not disappoint. As previously mentioned I am getting access to a lift where I will take underside photos. To my knowledge there are no leaks. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR INTEREST AGAIN.. I am hoping to see the rear quarter panel and door paint meter readings posted soon as I sent them yesterday at about 5p.m. e.s.t. Car is ready to drive anywhere with no problems..

  • Narbeh (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

can you post a photo with the rear hatch open

  • Narbeh (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@nosubstitute4porsche i'd like to see service records on the vehicle, especially seeing how wet it is underneath. have you had a chance to pull the lower engine cover off and snap some photos? are there any leaking seals? the SAI's get clogged if the car sits and is not driven, which requires a ton of service work. do you have any compression results to share as well?

  • 356rehab (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

    @nosubstitute4porsche Thanks

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@356rehab Hello Quarter panel or as you described(rear fenders) paint meter readings will be added shortly(this evening. Door meter readings will follow.. Again as previously stated car is 100% factory applied original paint, thank you

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@rak1161 Thank you. I suppose that might be because that is while I have had the car? I am not sure how the car fax works and why there is nothing there for the past 4 years. Perhaps if you are local and you would like to see the car we can arrange our schedules?

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@GT37148 Hello. I am trying to access a lift nearby to where the car is currently. The owner of the garage is co operating and I will get them as soon an our schedules can align. Sorry for the delay.

  • rak1161 (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@nosubstitute4porsche Thanks. Can you provide a more recent Carfax that covers the last four years. The one below only goes to 2016.

  • GT37148 3 years, 11 monthsago

@nosubstitute4porsche - Have you had an opportunity to determine the source of residue on the engine cover panel?

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@rak1161 Good day. Thank you for your questions.
    1) I purchased the car from"THE ST LOUIS CAR MUSEUM" so yes they sell 911(s) and other cars and btw are really nice people.
    2) I reside in Dallas and Montana the listing agent for pcarmkt used my Dallas residence.
    3) Prior to being sold or traded to the St. Louis car museum the car was owned by someone in Missouri. I hope this helps and thank you again

  • SShrem80 (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

    Hubba Hubba
    thats a pretty car

  • DanWong 3 years, 11 monthsago

Bid in the amount of $40,000

  • rak1161 (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@PCARMARKET Also would be good to get an updated Carfax. The one shown in the photos only goes through 2016. Seller indicates that he purchased vehicle at St. Louis Museum — do museums sell 911’s? — and Carfax indicates second (and current?) owner is in Montana and Missouri but the seller says they are from Dallas, PA. Just trying to sort out history. Thanks

  • PCARMARKET 3 years, 11 monthsago

@rak1161 This vehicle is a 1996, and was an oversite on our part. Sorry for the confusion.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@Narbeh Hello. I have driven the car sparingly and it has been brought up to temp at a minimum of once every 3 weeks in the winter months. When we have "very mild winters" as was the case in 2019 I took it for a short drive on clean roads with no salt etc as the undercarriage shows. From about April to November I drove is (again sparingly) about every 2 weeks. No lights and I am not sure what you mean about secondaries? No reseals that I am aware of and I am trying to get access to a lift to see about leaks as the "cover" has to come down.. THANK YOU

  • rak1161 (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

Not that it changes much, but it appears from the window sticker and Carfax that this is a 1996 car, not 1997

  • jdf1271 (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@siabond26 I agree. I'd say from what I see available in the country as well as being sold this car could easily pull in $120-$130

  • siabond26 (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

Recently a 1997 Arena Red over Cashmere Beige Coupe narrow body with 40k miles sold for $70k (including buyer's fee) at a different auction site, this 997 C4S wide body with 20k miles has to be worth way north of $100k for sure

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@siabond26 THANK YOU..Sorry it hasn't really been detailed(seriously) we needed to get pictures before I had the chance to give or get it really taken care of. I am somewhat embarrassed to be honest.THANK YOU AGAIN, for your nice words..

  • siabond26 (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

  • 356rehab (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

How long have you owned the car? And would please provide paint meter readings for the back fenders and doors....thx in advance

  • GT37148 3 years, 11 monthsago

nosubstitute4porsche - Can you please comment on the residue on the engine protection panel (images immediately following the wheel images).

  • Narbeh (registered bidder) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@nosubstitute4porsche how often was it driven and brought to temp in the last year? any check engine lights that came on and were reset? any issues with secondaries? any leaks/reseals?

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@Narbeh Hello. I have records from the seller(st Louis car museum and I did the oil and other services as mentioned myself. I can assure you the car does not disappoint. The pictures are great but seeing it in person (in this case and in everyone who has seen it) crates the wow affect that arena red/black displays.. THANK YOU..

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@ColnagoC64 THANK YOU.. I can check if I have the original radio however if you win the car and I don't have it ,I am sure we can work out getting you one. BTW the radio currently in there is an ALPINE and in my opinion outperforms the stock one. I can see why you may want the original and I understand.. I will check and follow up asap.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@DT Hello, I purchased the car from the St. Louis museum and it was my plan to use it sparingly as I am not one for long trips. I have vehicles that I have taken to Long Island(drive to America) shows etc.I purchased the car for weekend drives and to do cars and coffee etc. I do regular oil changes/etc. and have exercised this car regularly, just no out of state trips obviously. As the children get older unfortunately their toys and the luggage increase.. lol THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR INTEREST..This car will not disappoint.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (seller) 3 years, 11 monthsago

@tuto13 hello thank you for your interest. I am not sure on production numbers however I agree that it appears this combo is rarer than others. I have nothing to prove that but I have been drawn to this combo as it was less common. THANK YOU AGAIN..

  • tuto13 3 years, 11 monthsago

wow, I will be watching this very closely, as I have the fraternal twin to this car (mine has 40k miles and no sound package, and came with root wood shifter and e-brake). I have always been looking for another Arena Red/triple black 1997 (or 96-98 for that matter) C4S without success. They seem to be more common with Cashmere and Grey interiors. Just curious what the production numbers are for this particular combination...
